D-Link DSL-2750U compatible with Tikona Broadband or not? Posted: 02 Feb 2014 01:49 AM PST Hi ...
i have a Tikona Broadband at home with a RJ45 connector coming out from the signal device. i have 1 desktop PC and 2 Smartphones.
I want to purchase a Router with 300 Mbps speed, with a USB port for Data card/External HDD. After gone through various websites i have decided to go for D-Link DSL-2750U Wireless N ADSL2 4-Port Wi-Fi Router.
But it is a Modem + Router and has RJ11 WAN port But on various forum i have read that this product can be use with tikona broadband. But in Wajirpur Computer Market(Delhi) all shopwala told me that this D-Link DSL 2750 is a Modem + Router and will not work with Tikona Broadband. what should i do?
Is it compatible with tikona broadband? can i go online simultaneously on my 2 smartphones and Desktop PC? what will be the limitations of using Modem+router instead of a router (If it is compatible)? Please suggest some other Routers with similar configuration, 300 Mbps(large home), USB Port for data card and external HDD.(i dont want to go for TP-Link). My range is upto Rs 2500.
Please Help me out from this confusion. Thanks & Regards Ashwani |
Recommend me an internet plan @ CHennai ! Posted: 02 Feb 2014 01:39 AM PST Hi guys,
Iam from Adamabakkam, Chennai. I have been seeing this forum for quite some time and decided to ask u guys for teh same old question. What ineternet plan ??
Iam currently using BSNL ( not exactly because my ineternet is always down these days ). My plan is 750UL with FUP of 6gb @ 1 mbps and @512 kbps beyond that. The problem is BSNL BB has become unreliance in terms of connectivity and support ( even to my friends). So Iam right now looking for a plan which is good enough for my usage.
My requirements:
1. A decent FUP limit > 20 GB
2. Atleast 2 mbps
3. Cheap
4. Support
5. Should not be a headache like BSNL
I don't game much. I download a decent amount of movies and other stuff. As Iam working, I will not be using for the whole day. But whenever Iam at home, My system will be downloading something.
Recently I came across ACT and Tikona. Heard they are cheap and decent. Pls suggest me some ideas guys. Need ur help ! |

Dlink 2750U to Hathway Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem - Wireless Access Posted: 02 Feb 2014 12:51 AM PST Hi,
I have just subscribed to a new Hathway Docsis 3.0 plan. Its working fine when i am plugging in the Cat5 cable directly into a laptop. Getting speeds of 38Mbps.
I am trying to configure my existing Dlink 2750U to enable wifi access for this connection. I have tried virtually all the options suggested on this and other similar forums.
quick summary of options tried
1) Using group Interface option suggest on a Trikona BB forum 2) Flashed Dlink to ME firmware to setup ethernet interface 3) Directly plugging laptop and modem to Dlink router ports and disabling DHCP server functionality in the router
So far i have been able to get internet through the wired connection from Dlink (i.e. Dlink is wired to Hathway cable modem and laptop is wired to Dlink).
However once i do that i am unable to connect through the wireless. My android phone keeps alternating between obtaining ip; Authenticating and poor internet connection avoided. I also tried to force it to connect by aping all IP settings as pulled automatically when connecting laptop through wired network.
I suspect the issue maybe one of these (or something altogether different)
1) Unlike the wired connection; my android phone is unable to obtain IP/DNS settings when connecting through wifi 2) Something to do with MAC ( less likely - as i have no login requirement whatsoever) 3) DNS: I suspect this might be the biggest issue. i have tried to hard code DNS into both laptop/router but doesnt seem to help
Will really appreciate it if someone can help me resolve this.
Thanks |

Posted: 02 Feb 2014 12:31 AM PST I wonder why there is no thread for this yet!
The show is doing wonderfully well. I personally love it. It's different, no cheap comedy and pure entertainment.
TRP wise it's doing extremely well. Currently at the top in it's category (even above the likes of KBC, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, etc.) and overall 3rd. BTW you can watch the full episodes, trailers, etc. here - http://www.youtube.com/user/colorstv/search?query=comedy+nights Believe me, this show is amazing. You gotta watch this if you don't. |

Using the Dlink 2750u as a true Ethernet WAN router Posted: 01 Feb 2014 11:07 PM PST I'd actually already posted on how to use the Dlink 2750u as a full fledged Ethernet WAN router, but it was a few pages deep in a Tikona thread and some users were getting the actual method mixed up with workarounds posted earlier in that thread.
The 2750u is actually capable of both adsl and Ethernet WAN routing. However the Indian firmware only enables the adsl WAN. So one needs to use the Middle East (ME) firmware to enable the Ethernet WAN function. Please check the label under your router to identify the specific hardware version and apply the firmware that corresponds to it. Presently ME firmware is available for C1 and U1 versions. Here are the links
ME C1 v1.3 http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/26312555/file.html
ME C1 latest http://www11.zippyshare.com/v/86244007/file.html
In the latest firmware, I'm having a problem getting my 3g dongle to work, which is why I've posted both versions. Once the firmware has been changed to the ME type, one can easily switch between versions using the software update page and one can choose which version works best for them.
ME U1 http://www9.zippyshare.com/v/92256090/file.html
Applying the firmware
The firmware may not be accepted in the normal firmware update mode. Then you'll need to update it in the dlink crash recovery mode using a LAN cable (not wirelessly). Assign a static address on the PC for the ethernet interface in the 192.168.1.x series for eg 192.168.1.5
Switch router off, press the reset button ie insert ballpoint pen in reset hole under the router, keep holding the reset button and turn on the router. Keep holding the reset button for about 12 seconds after you power on the router. Now you'll see that the power led has turned red signifying that the router is in crash recovery mode. When you enter the address 192.168.1.1 on your PC browser, you find the upgrade firmware page. Just browse to the downloaded firmware file and flash!
After the new firmware has been flashed, your internet connection will not start working automatically, you will also need to set up the router correctly. Please do not apply any workarounds mentioned in other threads such as interface grouping, disabling DHCP etc Instructions for setting up the C1 hw version router
Step 1: Log into your router and under Advanced setup->Layer2 interface->ETH interface create an Ethernet interface with connection mode as default. Then go to Advanced setup->WAN Service and add service for eth0/LAN4.
Step2: If you have an internet connection with pppoe dialing such as pacenet, Honesty etc, in the next page, choose pppoe and put in username, password and service name in the next page. Also choose to enable NAT. In the next page move eth0 from available to selected gateway interface and remove ppp0 from selected, in the next page do the same for DNS and finally apply/save
Step2 (alt): If you have a connection such as Tikona, Reliance metro, cable internet etc, in the next page choose ip over ethernet, in the next page let the setting remain at Obtain an IP address automatically, in the next page check option to enable NAT, in the next page move eth0 from available to selected gateway interface and remove ppp0 from selected, in the next page do the same for DNS and finally apply/save
Step3: Then in advanced setup - 3g connection select primary uplink as ethernet.
Now connect your internet cable to the LAN port 4 of the router and you should be able to connect through any device connected through wifi or any of the other LAN ports. If you have a connection with a browser login such as Reliance metro or Tikona, the login page will show up only on the first device that you connect in each session. After you have logged in on any device, all other devices will have internet connectivity without going through the login page.
Instructions for setting up the U1 hw version router
In Internet setup, set WAN access type to Ethernet and in protocol, choose dynamic ip for connection such as Tikona, Reliance metro, cable boradband etc and choose pppoe if you have a pppoe dialer based connection such as pacenet, honesty net solutions etc. |

**Looking for suitable WiFi Router for home network** Posted: 01 Feb 2014 08:25 PM PST Hi there-
Greetings... I've been using 512kbps-broadband from BSNL and planning to get 2Mbps DSL link from ACT broadband in the future. Kindly recommend the most suitable, value for money - WiFi Router for home use (budget Rs. upto 3500 max). My house is two storied, duplex having 1000 sqft on each floor (9 rooms). I need to interconnect my cell phone, laptop, desktop & HD TV and also to access internet via this WiFi router.
I kept a Cisco wireless access point (2.4 GHz, 2.2 dBi) in the middle of ground floor just for testing purpose & measured the signal strength with a Laptop for each rooms. Its found as signal drops 30 to 20% in far away rooms of the other floor. So, I guess a Range Extender may be required on the other floor where the router is not present.
So far I've heard abt only DLink, Linksys, TP-Link, Netgear brands. My requirements -> access home internet using wifi via my android phone, watch HD videos on the TV occassionaly, laptop/desktop -work from home purpose. Should we choose 300 Mbps wireless speed model? It will be good if there is a manual switch to turn off wifi when not required. I've already got a ADSL2 modem so, the WiFi router should have an internet/WAN port to accommodate the ACT broadband link.
Q1. Are these range extenders proprietary products....will a DLink extender work for Linksys or TP-Link brand? Q2. If I also buy huawei e8131 (3G dongle + wifi hotspot), can it be used as back-up source of internet access via this wifi router? |
BSNL Session Expiration : 24 Hours? Posted: 01 Feb 2014 07:58 PM PST Hello! Before a few months, I used to keep my Modem on 24/7 and used to enjoy high-speeds even after my FUP usage. I was using BB-Home-ULD-800 plan, in which i got 8GB high speed data. I used to get more than that, around 15-16GB cos my phone line is always stable and not disconnecting! Can anyone confirm on this? So if this is true, then there is absolutely no way by which we can bypass the FUP limits. |
