| Airtel IPTV installation with D-Link DSL-2750U Posted: 21 Dec 2013 01:45 AM PST Frustrated with the Wi-Fi performance of existing Airtel Provided Router Beetel 450TC1, I purchased and installed a D-Link DSL-2750U WiFi router and succeeded in configuring WiFi and LAN access for all my data devices.
I examined all the WAN connections on my old router and updated them in the new D-Link router as shown below: ================================================================ VPI/VCI VLAN ID ENCAP Service Name Protocol State Status ================================================================ 1/35 0 LLC PVC:1/35 Bridge 1 Connected 0/35 0 LLC PVC:0/35 Bridge 1 Connected 1/32 0 LLC PVC:1/32 PPPoE 1 Connected ================================================================
The problem I am facing is that the IPTV STB is unable to log into the system successfully every time it is turned on. By trial and error I have identified that the STB logs in successfully if I switch on the router & STB at the same time.
I suspect the problem could be with the router. Either it blocks some traffic from the STB required for logging in OR it fails to detect the device (STB) connected to the LAN port. It would be great if someone can share their experience of making Airtel IPTV work with D-Link DSL-2750U WiFi router in a problem free setup.

Apparently the gamepad accessory for the Galaxy S4 support devices as large as 6.3 inches. So, the rumor in the market is that Note3 might feature a display as large. lol.
I think they should have added support for 8" devices so that the recently launched Note 8.0 would have worked with this! |

ADSL2+
Router : TP-Link TD-W8951ND (ADSL+Wifi) Enabling/Disabling Router Firewall and Kaspersky Firewall makes no difference. G.Dmt doesn't help either.
Because of the disconnections i cannot play games online and the overall internet experience is terrible. How the hell do i solve this issue? Please help. |

| 1and1 Broadband / HNS 1Mbps Unlimited Thane West Review Posted: 20 Dec 2013 11:52 PM PST I have used Tikona in my area and had mixed experience with them , sometimes speed was good and consistent pings but other times high disconnections and connectivity issues . Customer care was also not quick to respond to issues , always said problem in tower and never fixed that problem i suppose .
So i decided to give 1and1 Broadband a try and i must say , it is the best internet connection you can get if you are living in thane west . Just close your eyes and call them to get a connection .
They provide connection from HNS ( I selected HNS ) , 5net , Pacenet and indigital . I wanted to buy 5net but at that time i read some posts on this website saying pings were high and youtube problems , hub not working sometimes , caching problem etc . So i went for HNS .
The plan i am subscribed to is 1Mbps unlimited with no FUP or any other non sense speed throttle .
Connection :
It was simple , after calling the contact number of 1and1 , they sent an engineer to our building who checked feasibility and said that they give connection even if there is only one person who needs the connection in the building . All they needed was documents with society NOC to install Fibre and switch on terrace . Connection was done in next day and quickly activated after giving the check .
Plan : Annual 4999 INR 1Mbps Unlimited .
Now its time for some speed tests and ping tests
Speed test
Ping test at Singapore , los angels and Paris ( Best places to host game servers )
As you guys can see , pings are awesome and perfect for online gaming , i play global offensive on steam and get 60-70 ms on official steam servers at Singapore / Honk Kong
Download speed test [ Downloading a random file from moddb ]
Download speed is consistent and great for 1Mbps . In torrent the download speed is mostly around 140-150 KBps .
Caching services
HNS provides Linux cache mirrors , Torrent caching , CDN peering with Akamai and ofcourse google peering . Downloading anything from google/youtube/playstore gives LAN speed . Similarly websites that use Akamai as their CDN example , windows , apple , WWE , Netflix , HP , Sony , Xbox Live , PSN , Steam , EA store origin gives LAN speed . Downloading games from these stores is just way too easy and fast .
Popular torrents are cached and speeds are awesome when downloading new popular torrents .
Customer care and downtimes
Internet goes down only due to Power failure issues , calling 1and1 office , they usually know what the problem is and are quick to resolve it .
Thats pretty much it, i am planning to upgrade to 5Mbps plan next year ^^ . Very happy with this internet connection . If there is anything else you want to know , put it up here .

I'm totally frustrated today & i wanted to keep you infomed that this ACT organisation has NO interest at all in Expanding the Infrastructure even inside the common areas of Bangalore. They just gave a simple answer "Just opt for other ISPs like BSNL broadband"
My residence is located just 4km away from TAJ VIVANTA suites in Bangalore. I have been requesting them for the past few months to shift my existing Fiber Connection to Jalahalli 2nd Stage (Prestige Kensington). In fact, i took the effort of approaching the Senior Technical Engineers for expanding their fiber network.
They just gave me an unreasonable answer that expanding the network by 4km thru streets of Jalahalli is Expensive and Costs Lakhs. Hey... ACT guys..! you just dont have the guts to venture in business expansion inside the PRIME AREAS. you are not fit to be an ISP
They also told me that the local Government workers need to be taken care of during expansion of fiber. OR they would just cut the cables. (The Mufti guys are quite famous for such cheap behaviour in Bangalore) |

This is the timeline of how my installation experience has been with ACT BB.
11 Nov-2013 - I applied for a new ACT BB connection today in Kundanahalli Gate, Bangalore. I will keep you posted on the developments.
11-Nov-2013 - Cheque payment made to Sales executive, Babu Reddy, details filled on form and submitted to him.
12-Nov-2013 - At 1616 hrs, IST I receive a call from Mukund who is the ACT technician saying that the wiring has been completed to my apartment on the third floor and i would be receiving a call today at 1700 hrs, IST for username and password. In case, someone wants to have the contact details of the sales person & field engineer of ACT for Kundalahalli area, let me know. Speed test shows rocking upload and download speeds. I am on Act Force plan.
12-Nov-2013 1159, IST - First level checks indicate amazing speeds with YouTube where I can watch videos without buffering in Full HD. I will keep posting various workloads I consider to be bandwidth intensive and would update this thread.
Any downtime or disconnections will also be reported. |

| ACT broadband from best to worst Posted: 20 Dec 2013 09:52 PM PST I have applied for transfer of connection as I have moved to a new house on 14th sep 2013. My ticket number - 1221583.
The house is in the same area where I was residing earlier ( Nagawara, Bangalore - 560045).
Already 8 days are over from the day I raised the ticket. But still nobody has contacted me from ACT so far. I called up customer care almost 10 times. All the time I get the same stereotype answer that they forwarded to the concerned department. I am in urgent need of the connection; but these type of lazy action and lazy words from them irritates.
Note that, when I have applied for new connection 2 years back, they were very quick to call back, they were quick to install and everything was perfect. But now, they have SWALLOWED enough money and not willing to move their back to do their work.
So PATHETIC service from ACT broadband.

| Posted: 20 Dec 2013 09:49 PM PST Folks, Almost three months of struggle, last week I could get some response from ACT, representative by name Darshan coordinated for documentation and i paid subscription amount for 6 months. No one turned up for couple of days, after frequent follow ups i found that cable operator in Sriramapuram area is not co-operating etc.,. When i called Darshan he says he will install the modem in a day or two.
My concern is why should Executive make such false promises? Why should he say that my neighbour has ACT connectivity and he can draw cable from there? When I called Helpline, they're talking about refunding money?
WHOM SHOULD I TRUST?
i lost trust with ACT Broad Band.
My suggestion to new subscribers is that please check whether ACT BB has proper infrastructure in your area and also check with your neighbour before applying.
