After 1 and half week a guy called us regarding connection and he saw building and left again. After that we called that technician Deepak and he said a setup box has to be fixed. yesterday a guy came and fixed the box and wires and he too left. Till now we are not given connection. This is the worst ever broadband services i have ever seen in my life. Kindly help me out in providing me the connection ASAP.

Torrent settings for Act broadband

Posted: 01 Dec 2013 01:35 AM PST

Hi guys,

I have recently purchased ACT broadband for my home. Initially the torrents were downloading properly and with speeds upto 500 kbps.

Since the last two days though my speed is decent and the seed/peer ratio is also good enough, I am unable to download the torrents. It gets stuck in checking for metadata or downloading 0.0%.

Can anybody share the torrent settings?

Thanks in advance. :)

Back to 2799 8mbps plan

Posted: 01 Dec 2013 01:22 AM PST

My struggles start now. Got plan migrated today and when I got back from work noticed that migration happened successfully but speed is still at 3.4mbps. Gotta do some running around to get the speed upgraded now...
Kids were cribbing about video and audio stutter on YouTube and Internet radio, so had to take the plunge...

You have my money for the last time ! *VODAFONE*

Posted: 01 Dec 2013 01:12 AM PST

dear vodafone,

you guys suck ! your customer care is pathetic (yes you really dont care for your consumers ) i recharged 199 unlimited 2g pack but it seems more like a no-G pack... no speeds anytime of the day, when i call customer care they give silly advices like restart your phone, check your apn, move to a more servicable area (yeah sure ... i would buy a new house for using your silly net service). The problem is in the vodafone system administration,  you guys have capped speed to such an extent that its unusable.

I have been using Aircel (for both 2g and 3g which is awesome) and infact IDEA has better speed output in 2g. Your network inspite of being most used is so pathetic in terms of speed that i have almost made up my mind to not waste any more of my hard earned money in your net plans.

Just make sure you are not out of race because you are already losing it. I have many friends using your 3g and they said speed was ok but no one  said the speed was awesome, your prices are high, speeds are low and under any circumstances you are going to lose more users like me if you continue on the same track.

best regards,

Abhishek

How many of you are facing wrong data calculation on Airtel plans

Posted: 01 Dec 2013 12:56 AM PST

I've been using Airtel broadband 16mbps plan since a long time now. And from couple of months back, i am facing this issue where i download about 1gb of data but the smartbytes show a usage of more than 2gb. I understand that the smartbytes should calculate the data transfer between ports, but i fail to understand, to download 1gb of file, the computer cannot transfer more than 2gb of data.

How many of you are facing similar issue, where you are not using the data but the amount deducted is unfair.

Micromax Ninja A89

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 11:59 PM PST

Purchased Micromax Ninja A89 from Croma Retail last month. Ordered mobile in the afternoon and it was delivered next morning. I paid Rs.6199.

Positives-

  • Almost stock Android UI

  • Good build quality

  • Very good performance. No lags and no hangs.

  • Display resolution is decent.

  • Speakers are pretty good.

Negatives

  • Bunch of crap inbuilt apps (M!Store, M! Buddies etc).

  • 3MP Fixed focus camera and no front camera.

  • No OTA updates. There is not even an option to check for updates!. Need to update manually.

Verdict-

The phone is very good and totally worth for Rs.6K. This is my last Android.

BSOD on New Laptop Ram Install.

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 11:56 PM PST

I had bought this in Jan 2013, running Win7, 32 bit, for my Lenovo Z560. Its suppose to be supporting 8GB

Corsair DDR3 4 GB Laptop RAM -

  • DDR3-1333/PC3-10600

The laptop had existing ram  of 2GB , clock speed: 1066 (Original Ram)

Now Without using the original Micron ram of 1066 with the New Corsair one the computer was never booted :\

I just wanted to use the corsair one !

Using both Rams booted though there was always a screen showing all the time hardware changes...and all..

( have flashed BIOS, updated chipset driver...but nothing )

Now I upgraded to 64bit win7 Pro. so i could use full 6GB as with 32 bit it was limited to only 3GB !

Now the new ram (Corsair DDR3 4 GB, 1333  ) is not at all working with old one Micron1066.

if I put both together I am getting BSOD. If its not BSOD its going in a loop of continuous restart or black screen.

Errors:

0x00000019 BAD_POOL_HEADER

Irql_not_less_or_equal

Its only booting with the Micron one.

There is no option in BIOS to change CPU speed ...Ram Clock speeds.... thanks to crappy Intel Mother Boards. BIOS is clearly showing 6 gigs of ram.

Now what do i do I am stuck with 2GB ram !

Have already run so many restarts ...  :\

Airtel data usage fake?

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 10:15 PM PST

I have been using airtel for few months now its been pretty good
I took the 4mbps 25gb limit plan it was good until i felt that my data plan gets over faster than i expect to to get over ,
meaning my 25 gb limits gets over when i havent downloaed anything big
well that can easily happen casuse its fast net and all that but just to make sure i dowladed an app that tracks my data usage ...
one day when my data plan got over and the speed went slow i check the app and it showed 17 gb used

So I called customer service and asked them,
they said their severs are never wrong,

I was like okay it can happens cause its over the course  of a month mistakes can happen .
But then today i came back form holidays dint even use the net all this time,
went online chekde facebook and youtube then checkd  the app(1.63gb) and campared it to the value in the site(airtel.in) after login in(2.86 gb)

I dont get how this could happen i have print screen of the value can some one help me find a way to attact it here?

Is this fraud or error from my side? I know there is an airtel mod here so kindly reply :)

Fair Usage Policy - How many of you agree with my usage policy ?

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 10:02 PM PST

Although I have posted this here, it is applicable to anyone who has to deal with the shit called FUP. I have a 16 Mbps/80 GB plan from Airtel. Now there are some months where I do download beyond the 80 GB limit, but this is very rarely. Like say twice or thrice a year. Most of the time I am averaging 40-50 GB. Now, my point is shouldnt I be allowed to carry forward my unused data. I mean, I did pay for it. If not that then give me my money back for the unused data or adjust it with the bill. Are they any ISPs inside or even outside of India practicing this ? or am I just kidding myself.

Chromarchy

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 09:19 PM PST

CHROMARCHY
Chromarchy is a GNU/Linux distribution for Chromebooks.  It builds on Arch   Linux and Arch Linux ARM by providing a distribution installer and by   providing packages for software included in Google's Chromium OS and   Chrome OS.

PURPOSE
Chrome OS and Chromium OS include software useful for the operation of   Chromebook devices.  The power manager and audio server are great examples   of this, as they are both simple, powerful, efficient, and tailored   specifically to Chromebooks.  Chromarchy decouples these and other tools   from Chrome/Chromium OS and integrates them into a more traditional   GNU/Linux distribution.   Chrome OS also depends on proprietary software for certain functionality   like graphics hardware support.  Chromarchy might facilitate the use of   these blobs in a more traditional setting.  Support for Flash and   accelerated OpenGL may be possible and is a goal.

STATUS
Chromarchy is currently in alpha status.  There is currently only support   for Samsung ARM Chromebooks and HP Chromebook 11s, but support for other   devices is planned.

Mobile Phone with internal Answering Machine functionality

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 07:49 PM PST

Hello

Someone asked me suggest a basic mobile with Answering Machine feature.
A similar thread is like 4 years old, so I'm asking here.

Apparently his old phone Samsung S3500 has this feature & he doesn't want to use voicemail thingy.
Looking for something cheap & best, so haven't decided on brand & form factor yet.
Any recommendations?

Thanks

Remember to reset your connection before midnight on last day of the month!

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 06:43 PM PST

Since today was the last day of the billing cycle, I have my downloads on since early morning. I do not want this usage to end up getting counted in next month's cycle because the session continued past midnight.

Should I reset my modem before midnight tonight?

I lost around 4GB data on Airtel Broadband last year which they refused to add back to my account which basically got me to dump them permanently.
