Volume levels on Tata Sky channels, both SD and HD

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 01:47 AM PST

Hi,

I have been facing this problem of very low volume levels for some time now. My set top box volume level is at 100% and my Sony LED TV needs to be set to 30-35 lines to be able to hear the audio properly. But still the quality is not good. Sound is muffled. Some of the dialogs are not properly audible. My HD+ STB is connected to my TV via HDMI cable.

Few observations:

1. Any non-HDMI devices such as DVD player, internet etc. works on my TV within volume range of 10-15.

2. Any HDMI device such as my camcorder, etc. works within same volume range of 10-15. It is just the Tata Sky HD+ STB which refuses to give good quality sound. I even tried using component output but same issue.

Suspecting that either the STB is not working fine or perhaps the signal itself doesn't have strong audio component, I have been chasing the Tata Sky support on this for last couple of days. But those guys keep giving nonsensical answers and close the complaint. Yesterday the technician told me that the HDMI ports on my Sony TV had a problem and I should contact Sony service center for the same. When I challenged him with the demo in point 2 above, he finally said he would check with technical support and get back to me. But to my surprise he went back and closed the complaint!

I checked with many other folks who are reporting the same thing i.e. the TV volume control is set almost half way through (50%) and STB sound level is set to 100% then only one can get something to hear, but still the quality is not good (suppressed, muffled, lower frequencies cut off).

Is this something that is affecting everyone? I wonder why Tata Sky is not responding to the complaints...

Hope to hear from you guys.

TIA,

WinCPP

Configure Adsl Utstarcom Wa3002G4 as a switch

Posted: 30 Nov 2013 12:52 AM PST

Hey Guys!!

I have changed my Broadband connection to ACT from BSNL.

I was planning to configure ADSL router (UTSTARCOM Wa3002G4) as a switch. ACT broadband provides dynamic IP , a RJ45 cable which is connected to the laptop directly. When we start browsing we get redirected to ACT login page and need to login inorder to browse.

I was planning to connect the RJ45 to one of the LAN port (wa3002g4 has 4 LAN) and use it as a switch( use the wifi ).

But i'm unable to connect, im having limited access.

I read lot of threads here, people had the same issue and they could resolve, i followed all the steps taken like disable the DHCP all that.

Can anyone help me out in this.. Is there anything to do with NAT?

Apparently, Voter ID card is a joke

Just saw the pilot and I do not think I would like this show. Call me sexist but I cannot get used to the idea of malnutritioned women kicking asses of bad guys. This is pretty darn similar to why I did not like Dollhouse :D

Looking for suggestions!

Google Chromecast

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 11:07 PM PST

Remember a few weeks back when we reported that Google was working on an ultra-affordable Chrome dongle for TVs or displays called the Chromekey? At the time, we thought Chromekey would be the device name and that you would be able to "CAST" (term used by our source) your Chrome browser from desktop or mobile Chrome browser to any display to have a bigger browsing experience. Well, according to Google Play support docs, that device appears to have been renamed to Chromecast.

Michael Schumacher News & Updates

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 08:53 PM PST

Michael Schumacher is starting from second spot to what can be his title winning race of the season. He just need to score 2 points more than Rubens Barrichello. And by god if he gets that (even without winning the 13th race of the season), it would be tremendous achievement. 5th Title in a row... And that too with such a dominating season...

A shufoso like me needs no more! Though I won't mind 2-3 more titles... :D

Get that 7th Championship!

Friends, instead of starting new thread for each news, I thought of opening a separate thread for F1 news. So, here I start...

Standardising Formula One machinery
Five-year FIA cost-culling plan revealed
15/10/08

A British newspaper has revealed the FIA's five-year plan to radically slash costs, with the body's president arguing Formula One has become 'unsustainable'.

The centrepiece of the package, to be discussed with the F1 teams' alliance FOTA next week in Geneva, is the standardisation of expensive car parts that add little to the show.

The London publication The Times claims that Bernie Ecclestone, the Chief Executive of F1's commercial rights holder, backs the Max Mosley-devised plan to 'dramatically' cut costs.

Among the measures is the introduction of a controversial standard engine design for 2010, additional energy recovery systems and fuel-efficient engines for 2013, and many 'common parts' for the chassis.

"We are completely open to new ideas," Mosley, albeit insisting that engines must be made available to small teams at a low cost, said in a letter to the team bosses.

An FIA spokesman said he will not comment prior to the meeting.

High torrent speed but very slow browsing speeds.

Posted: 29 Nov 2013 08:18 PM PST

Dear Friends,

I am using 4mbps broadband connection and last week by mistake I had reset my router settings.  After looking at the internet and changing the router settings , I am getting very low browsing speed (looks like 100kbps).

When I do speed test (speedtest.net) there is shows my download speed as 4 mbps but during upload speed it always shows "upload error please try again".  Also if I use torrents the download speed is as per 4mbps plan.

So I am confused why I am getting such low browsing speed and at least other sites download very slowly but facebook and gmail doesnt open only.

Can somebody help me in this regard.

Thanks,

Vishal

Digital Camera with Manual Controls

Xiaomi MI3

http://goo.gl/OsD0IL

The MI3 candy bar phone is available with either a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor (on China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network) or Snapdragon 800 CPU (China Unicom and China Telecom, which are WCDMA and CDMA2000, respectively) that provide a 40 percent performance boost over the MI2S. It also sports a 5-inch 1080p IPS LCD built by Sharp or LG with "ultra sensitive touch" that works even when the user has wet hands or has gloves on.

Other bits of the phone include 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB for storage (with a nice 120MB/s read speed), dual-band WiFi and NFC. Given the 8.1mm body thickness, the 3,050mAh battery is quite impressive (and the included charger provides fast charging with a 2A current), but only time will tell how well it lasts under those beastly processors. As for the price, the phone runs CN¥1,999 (US$330) for the 16GB version and CN¥2,499 ($410) for the 64GB, though only the China Mobile version (Tegra 4) has a mid-October date.
