Posted: 09 Oct 2013 02:26 AM PDT Friends, instead of starting new thread for each news, I thought of opening a separate thread for F1 news. So, here I start... Standardising Formula One machinery Five-year FIA cost-culling plan revealed 15/10/08 A British newspaper has revealed the FIA's five-year plan to radically slash costs, with the body's president arguing Formula One has become 'unsustainable'. The centrepiece of the package, to be discussed with the F1 teams' alliance FOTA next week in Geneva, is the standardisation of expensive car parts that add little to the show. The London publication The Times claims that Bernie Ecclestone, the Chief Executive of F1's commercial rights holder, backs the Max Mosley-devised plan to 'dramatically' cut costs. Among the measures is the introduction of a controversial standard engine design for 2010, additional energy recovery systems and fuel-efficient engines for 2013, and many 'common parts' for the chassis. "We are completely open to new ideas," Mosley, albeit insisting that engines must be made available to small teams at a low cost, said in a letter to the team bosses. An FIA spokesman said he will not comment prior to the meeting. F1 : Standardising Formula One machinery - FIA - F1-Live.com |

Lewis Hamilton News and Updates Posted: 09 Oct 2013 02:22 AM PDT Hi all Lewis Hamilton fans out there. get ur favorite star hamilton's news in this thread... ajuravi007 has started ferrari fans and alonso fans thread :hysterical: so, i have started the young rookie hamilton ![]() He is the star of tomorrow  No one can touch him... neither alonso nor raikkonen can stop him win the the 2008 f1 championship ![]() Hamilton pleased after maiden MP4-23 run 10 Jan 2008 McLaren's Lewis Hamilton is feeling positive after completing his first laps in the team's 2008 challenger, the MP4-23, on Thursday. Hamilton was in action at Jerez alongside new team mate Heikki Kovalainen, as the British squad continued their three-day private test at the Spanish circuit. "It was fantastic to get my hands on the MP4-23 this morning in Jerez," said the 23 year-old. "I saw the completed car for the first time on Monday at the team's launch in Stuttgart and I have been pretty impatient since then! My first run was at 09:10 and my first impressions are encouraging. "I covered over 103 laps, which is 456kms, today. Considering this is only the second day the car has been on track, I am pretty happy with that. We have a lot of work to do, but now we have a real understanding of where we are starting from. I will be back in the MP4-23 with Heikki tomorrow and I am looking forward to continuing the programme and moving forward." Kovalainen, who got his first taste of the new car on Wednesday, alongside tester Pedro de la Rosa, was equally pleased with his own progress. "Today was my second day with the MP4-23 and I have now been able to complete over 447kms in total," said the Finn. "We are all still spending time learning about the car and starting to get used to it. That we were on track for 204 laps in total today is definitely helping us to learn and progress with the car. "For me in particular the car is very different from last year, and I have been focusing on that side of things. Settling into the team has been very easy." Hamilton clocked the day's best time, a 1m 19.132s, while Kovalainen's best lap was completed in 1m 19.462s. The duo will continue to test at the track on Friday. |
Multiuser (PPPoE) configuration issue for BSNL Broadband Posted: 09 Oct 2013 02:18 AM PDT Hi,
I need some urgent help on multiuser (PPPoE) configuration for my Nokia Siemens SL2_141 modem. I know this is a known issue (at least some variations of it) - however, i have tried searching in multiple forums, logged a complaint with BSNL but the issue is not yet solved.
Initially my modem was configured as Bridging (Connection Type) and I could connect only one device (either wired or via wireless) at a time by using the dial up.
Later on, as advised in the BSNL site for multiuser configuration, I have setup the connection type as PPPoE and I could connect multiple devices (laptop, cellphone, etc) at the same time via wireless - i do not need to use the dial up anymore. The problem is with my desktop computer which is still hard wired with the BSNL modem and i am not able to connect to internet. The LAN connection is good - however there is no internet connection. When i am trying to use the dial-up (ideally i do not need to) from my desktop, it is giving me an error 676: Phone line is busy. I believe the issue is due to a simple configuration issue - however, i am not abel to figure it out. Please help. The details are given below:

New In Delhi, Which Unlimited Connection To Take Posted: 09 Oct 2013 01:54 AM PDT Hi, |
Posted: 09 Oct 2013 01:52 AM PDT Hi
Around a decade with Airtel (initially touchtel) it was time to move on. Was interested in FTTX (X=B,H...) but with non of the branded names in my area I had no option but to knock the doors of local cable wallah to get reliance / spectranet etc etc in the colony. To my surprise there is a local operator (based out of Bikaji Cama Palace) and presense in quite a few locations in NCR delhi called Geonet (http://www.geocity.co.in/coveredarea.html). Any reviews???
The person claims to run a backbone on fibre, has bandwith from multiple branded ISPs and gives a standard Ethernet connection over PPOE. plug in a normal router and you get a public IP (199.XXX.XXX.XXX Series (he did not tell me the complete series). Lastly with cable lines being broken stolen multiple times a year in my colony he offered me a air grid connectivity. He said it is enough for upto 10mbps line. He also offered something called nano bridge for speeds upto 25mbps
for those still interested: - one time installation charges Rs. 1000 (said he would need to expand around 200 meters and will be installing a switch behind my building) so he is making investment and hence cant discount this, moreover this would be non refundable. - air grid security deposit Rs. 500 (refuntable). would charge installation charges even if I take air grid as he claims airgrid costs him around Rs. 5000 and hence would need installation charges anyhow - monthly charges including tax - Rs. 1K for 1mbps no FUP , Rs 1.1K for 2bmps for 25gb and then 1mbps unlimited. - Other plans include 400kbps Rs. 560 , 512 kbps Rs.650, 8gb 2mbps post which 512kbps for Rs. 750
Since I am on a D-LINK 2750U I would need to buy a normal WIFI router for which he is charge Rs. 1500 and is upfront saying It includes around Rs. 200 as his commission to bring and install the WIFI.
My Questions 1. Any one any review of this ISP. He claims to have 30K customers in and around Delhi 2. Any issues with Latency, Speeds, downtime 3. Any issues anticipated with the following services 3( a ) - VPN : I need to connect to office VPN which is powered by Aventail. 3( b ) - VOIP : I use a lot of Magic Jack, Vonage and likes for calling both from desktop, Apps installed on phone and devices 3( c ) - NAT / Remote initiated sessions - Read hosting gaming servers, adhoc FTP severs, Torrent Downloading 3( d ) - Google Cloud Print - I have 2 printers one is classic (attached to chrome on a machine to allow cloud print) and other directly connects to google cloud. 4. Any person who has idea of Air Grid, Nano Bridge ETC and can comment on these connectivity during rain, winds, etc.... 5. Is 1 mbps enough for watching SD and/or HD streaming videos from Youtube/FB/vimeo etc.
I do not have any particular requirements, I usually consume around 22-24gb a month with normal surfing, app updates on various mobiles, Drop Box however I am not using my internet connection to potential because of post FUP 256kbps fears.
Ps. The ISP has a scheme of Rs. 50 a month discount for 8 months on refer a friend. Incase you plan to take this connection do give my reference. I am waiting for my installation which would happen next Saturday (damn office during weekdays) and I am planning to continue my airtel for another 2 months before I degrade my plan and then another 2-3 months before I disconnect completely (if I am satisfied with this ISP).
---edit--: Just an update, managed to search a thread on this forum itself http://broadbandforum.co/topic/43237-ms-krishna-internet-services-deficiency-in-service/ but this is over 3 years old and hence posting a fresh thread |
Discussion thread for sellers on eBay, ShopClues etc. Posted: 09 Oct 2013 01:48 AM PDT Just Last week I started my eBay selling, Bagged about 10 orders, but still not satisfied due to
1). eBay very reluctant to offer powership to new sellers 2). Couriers like blue-dart, DTDC, First-flight ask you sky high shipping charge when you contact directly. 3). Customers not playing fair, not easily confirming receipt of Items and may trigger Money Back to them. 4). Most couriers would kick you and won't accept Items which are just small but are ODD Shaped.
Currently doing mobile accessories and planning to expand to small electronic items including toys.
So went to Shopclues, signing up was quick and fine, got a Call for verification and need to upload product details to get finally approved. I've been playing fair and submitted PAN Details etc, as I plan the selling process to be a long term venture and would not evade any taxes if this yields sales and profits. Good thing about Shopclues was they would be offering "Shipping Assistance" thru their velocity program which is reasonable and I am keeping fingers crossed to use shop clues more prominently than eBay for selling as of now.
So fellow members of IBF Do come here and discuss the entrepreneurship experience . (wow what a English ) |

A service engineer came home and said line is working fine problem lies with server call CC to solve it.Now i did that to no help getting response issue will be sorted out then i get a sms complaint has been solved now i have registered my third complaint in 3 days getting the same thing CC says service engineer and service engineer says CC and complaint is solved without consulting me. Any ideas how to get it sorted. As i feel now i am acting as a member of reliance service team rather a customer coordinating between service engineer and CC.I have also asked both of them sort it on their own to no use. |

ACT Broadband Bangalore Reviews Posted: 09 Oct 2013 12:32 AM PDT Hello Readers, My name is Vivek Sinha Anurag and i am going to post some "great" work shown by Act Broadband. I applied for ACT Broadband 5 Mbps plan [its having cap value of 35GB after that speed will reduce to 256 kbps] by calling their customer care on 16th Aug 2011. I was surprised to see their lightening fast response as the representative came to my doorstep the very next day and on 17th Aug 2011 Mr Ashitt O.S. collected the money and documents and told me that withing 5 days i will get my connection and i even got sms confirmation that my request no is 142263. Now the real story started. Even after 6 days no one ever bothered to check my request so i called customer care [ 080-42840000] to remind them and i was told that i will get it withing next 2 days. I waited for next 2 days and called them again. I was surprised to learn a new technical term from them that they are "Uploading network" hence its taking time and soon i will get my connection. Since my work was getting affected because of their delay i applied for a BSNL connection too. Now today is 5th September and i am still waiting for the connection and to my surprise i got the BSNL broadband last week. I tried escalating this matter and asked the customer care for any high level contact and they said that i need to mail helpdesk@acttv.in. I emailed them but i got no response. Please note some points regarding ACT broadband before applying ACT broadband 1. They dont have nodal officer/appellate authority [against TRAI rules and i have already escalated this matter to TRAI officials with the help of pgportal.gov.in] 2. They have a customer base of 2500 users in bangalore and they are not able to manage even this small number. 3. They DO NOT PROVIDE STATIC IP [even if they claim to do so] 4. Their customer care service is useless. All you will losse is your balance by talking to them 5. They can "Upload network" [You can imagine the understanding capability of their technicians] 6. They are fast in collecting money but lazy in delivering service Final conclusion: To be on safe side stay away from them else you will suffer like me. Morning shows the day and even before using their service i am suffering. Don't know what will happen when i get the connection and i face any problem that time. |

BBNL Broadband in Sanjay Nagar Posted: 08 Oct 2013 11:13 PM PDT I have been using Airtel broadband for the past 6yrs.. 2Mbps connection.. I tried very hard to change my plan to 4/8Mbps plan. But every time i called the customer care i was told no feasibility.. Thought to change the provider .. It was Act this time.. I placed the request 10days back and still no reply from them..They have not told till now whether my place is feasible or not.. Finally had spoken to a BBNL guy around 6 pm ... He said they will provide a free demo installation, which we could use for 3 days and take up the connection if satisfied. Within 20 mins, 2 personel showed up and asked us to fill the form ( no proofs were asked as it is for demo ). They said they could give only modem for demo which is the wired connection. We said we use only Wifi and need wifi router. Immediately he got a brand new D-link router and did the installation. the connection to modem was through TV cable wire. He gave us an username and password. At 7pm we got our connection.. He said the speed will be between 6-10Mbps. Youtube 1080p videos buffered immediately without a pause.. Downloads were between 500-700.. Sometimes it even reaches 850Kbps.. From approx 250kbps to around 800kbps, its a huge leap in download experience and unlimited data usage ( ie. no FUP limit ) let me not always keep tab on my limit. The overall experience is positive. Im still in demo period. I initially thought to have airtel for back up. But now feel its not very necessary, since this guys have been taking care of sanjay nagar area , the response is attentive. Let me come back after using BBNL for few weeks and write my review .. Speed Test - http://speedtest.net/result/2213514039.png |

MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences Posted: 08 Oct 2013 10:35 PM PDT I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.
SNR margins (SNRM)
Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.
Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here) Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates. I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.
Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

When I took the connection last month, the ten minute trial was perfect, but when the connection was given the speed was just 200kpbs which was pathetic. The technicians who came for installing where of moral policing type. I immediately asked for disconnection because of the attitude of the technical team. On humble request from the retention team I agreed to give another try, and not even 48 hours of reconnection I see the same problem, not a simple web page opens, it keeps getting disconnected every five minutes. Very very pathetic. |

Raymond "Red" Reddington, one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives, surrenders in person at FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. He claims that he and the FBI have the same interests: bringing down dangerous criminals and terrorists. Reddington will cooperate, but insists that he will speak only to Elizabeth Keen, a rookie FBI profiler. Keen questions Reddington's sudden interest in her, though he claims that Keen is very special. After the FBI brings down a terrorist he provided information on, Reddington reveals that the terrorist is only just the first of many. In the last two decades, he made a list of criminals and terrorists he believes the FBI can't find because they didn't know they exist and that they matter the most. Reddington calls it "The Blacklist".
