| Airtel launches IPTV with HD Channels...experience? Posted: 10 Oct 2013 02:24 AM PDT Airtel has launched the IPTV with HD Channels just last month however the biggest setback / disappointment is that the existing customers cannot subscribe to the HD Channels. The scheme is only available for new acquisitions...which is really sad. The cost of a new HD IPTV set top box along with a free wife router is Rs 3500 (installation charges) and the HD plan will cost Rs 599/month (though there are only 12 HD channels at this time...hope they add more soon.)
I was forced to cancel by earlier IPTV + broadband connection and took a new HD IPTV + broadband connection. Received a HD STB (obviously much different than my earlier STB). The picture and sound quality is much better....I guess thanks to the new better STB and HDMI output. The STB menu / interface is really good (not like the old one) and it very responsive and fast (unlike the earlier IPTV which was very sluggish.)
Overall if you really want HD channels along with HDMI output then it is worth the trouble to disconnecting your existing connection and buying a new one for Rs3500/-.....else stick to your existing connection. |

| Tata Sky launching TV on mobile? Posted: 10 Oct 2013 02:13 AM PDT I have just come across this image. Apparently a screenshot of tata sky's mobile app. Looks like some tv channel is playing on this? Is this what they are planning to launch? Any news/ updates?

| Buying Nexus 5 - what are my options ? Posted: 10 Oct 2013 02:09 AM PDT Well I know it's not announced yet but anyway, I'll be buying one as soon as it comes out.
How to buy it if it doesn't launch in india?
From what I know here are my options ;-
1 - Ask a US friend to buy it for you and then ship it to you. (without him coming to india) 2 - Buy it from services like iShopInternational. 3 - Buy it with using proxy services and get it here - long process.
I have understood the 2nd and 3rd option and it's process but don't know the first process and how it works?
First thing is - how to even send him the cash? I have only debit card here with me with NEFT, will that work? There are services like western union but I don't know how that works. Let me know how to send him cash and don't get charged much, minimum charges please.
Ok, Say I have a friend who is willing to pay for the device at play store, then he uses fedex , etc courier companies to send the phone here. Will I be charged less money by this option ? I also have heard if someone gift wraps the item and sends it to you , no custom charges will be there... is that true?
I haven't really ordered something from outside india, So I don't know. |
