Tikona Broadband User Experiences Posted: 07 Sep 2013 02:47 AM PDT Thought I would start another thread for people who have actually used this service to describe their experience. They have started advertising quite heavily in Bombay and their plans seem pretty decent. Their 600kbps UL plan would be excellent for me. I really like the way they have bill limits for their limited plans as well. That shows they understand consumer concerns about enormous bills and have designed their plans to allay them. So how good is their service? Any down time? How quickly do they respond to complaints? Really any information from people who have used Tikona would be appreciated. |

Can I do anything to improve ping? [South Delhi, 1 Mbps, 370ms~ to google] Posted: 07 Sep 2013 02:21 AM PDT
ChessCube.com - 1k+ ping. Facebook - 800ms~
etc.
Can't keep using MTNL with these numbers. However, is there anyway to talk to these guys to get this improved? I've pretty much exhausted the local exchange... these south delhi guys are absolutely useless. |
Asus RT N13U not working with Beam Fiber Posted: 07 Sep 2013 02:20 AM PDT Hi Guys, first of all I am new to this forum. I have been following it for reviews and all for quite a long time. Now I am in trouble so need your help. I bought Asus RT N13U from Flipkart few days back. But it is unable to detect my Beam Fiber, the same fiber works fine when I connect it to my laptop. I contacted Asus guys, they asked me to upadate firmware, setup PPPoE connection, Automatic IP and in the end we manually entered all the details in Static IP. The error message that comes in is "Your Ethernet Cable is not connected". I got the router replaced and the new one is also having same problem. Please help me setup WiFi connection with this router. Thanks a lot. Here is the link to the router I bought: http://www.flipkart.com/asus-rt-n13u-b1-wireless-n-all-in-one-printer-server-router/p/itmd3849zu3sgwxq?pid=RTRD38494HWZVMAK |
Tata Sky DTH now replacing MPEG2 STBs with MPEG4 STBs for free! Posted: 07 Sep 2013 02:03 AM PDT We are replacing close to 5-6 million MPEG-2 SD STBs at no cost to consumers over the next year. All of this is coming in from internal accruals.
But you need to wait for one more year to see many new channels
We have been adding channels in a phased manner; the process will now be accelerated with the MPEG-4 STB. By June-July next year we should be able to revise our channel offerings to consumers,

Posted: 07 Sep 2013 01:24 AM PDT ACT,
I had raised a complaint (Request No. 0001194416) 3 days back. There is no power to the switchbox and more than 8 customers are without internet for the past 3 days. Everytime I speak to customer care, they say that the urgency of the complaint has been increased, and other bullsh*t. If you guys dont have any plan to fix it soon, please let us know. All 8 of us are going to switch to some other ISP. Speed is important, but customer service is more important... |
My experience with Airtel Broadband Posted: 07 Sep 2013 01:20 AM PDT Hi Guys, Many people consider airtel broadband as the best ISP because of its good customer service. This was true until a while back, but not anymore. Airtel's customer service has changed .. for the worse. This post is to fore-warn people who intend to switch over to airtel based on their perception of it having better CC service. I will spare you the long Mahabaratha and will just write some of my experience, point wise. I have had airtel for around 4 years now and until last year airtel lived up to its brand image of having very good CC. These are some of my experience with them this year. I have had multiple incidents this year, i ll post only 1 here to give you an idea of how poor their CC is Situation: I called up to upgrade to a faster plan from my current plan. -> They refused to let me change my broadband plan until i get an airtel fixedline (i have airtel broadband without airtel fixedline) I put in a request for a fixedline -> My first request (ticket) for fixedline phone was closed after two weeks without anybody contacting me. An automated SMS alerted me to this fraudulant closure. I was following up and had the ticket escalated twice . The reason given was downright absurd ('no coverage'). I already have broadband connection. -> The second request has been kept open for around two months now. Twice the CC called me up and tried to brainwash me into agreeing to close the ticket ("Your current plan is enough for you" .. Thats exactly what they told me) -> Finally they called me and told me that I, an existing airtel customer must apply for a new airtel broadband connection by submitting my ID documents all over again and paying for the installation charges. So i could get an airtel fixedline i did'nt need and after that i could upgrade my plan to a faster speed. -> I still agreed and applied for a new connection ! I was told that a person would come to collect my documents and give me a new connection And guess what ? the same cycle of waiting and escalation followed. Finally i escalated it to Airtel South Nodal Authority. -> A CC person immediately calls up apologizes for not sending anybody and asks me to visit the nearest airtel showroom and apply for a new connection !! He happily closes the ticket. -> Last week i sent a mail to airtel. It was an ultimatum. Either change my plan or disconnect my connection. If i have to apply for a new connection by visiting an airtel showroom i would rather apply with a different ISP. They replied, apologized again and promised to send an 'engineer' to look at whether it was possible to change my plan without airtel fixedline (after all this mahabharatha) . They gave me an SLA of 2 days. It ends by today afternoon..nobody has contacted me yet. I have decided to switch to Reliance. Their CC may be crap but atleast their plans dont cost a bomb. whats the point of paying a premium to airtel if their CC is as bad as any other ISP. -> I suspect they wont let me disconnect my airtel bb easily and from the looks of it they intend to stall, but i intend to pursue it as far as the courts if need be.Their tactic is simple, apologize promise a solution, give you an SLA time and thats the last you will hear from them. |
Airtel Broadband Billing Issue Posted: 07 Sep 2013 01:07 AM PDT I have received hard copy letter from Airtel stating revision of my monthly rental broadband plan with effect of 8-Aug-2013, I have consumed internet as per the new plan, but Airtel has changed to new plan only on 30-Aug-2013, due to this i have been over charged Rs. 4132 instead of Rs. 699 (rental) + tax. I have raised multiple complaints with Airtel stating this letter and emailing them scanned copy of their letter, all my complaints are closed without resolving my billing issue.
How to proceed further on this?
Please look at the Airtel letter attached.

Best broadband plan and how reliable ? Posted: 07 Sep 2013 12:33 AM PDT Guys, I will be coming to India from Europe for 6 months and will be staying at Noida, I am looking for broadband connection at Noida and needless to say it should be reliable and better in terms of stable upload and download speed. I don't have much of need but I would like to download stuff and connect to European office through VPN etc. I did check online and Airtel stood out but how good it is? And they even claim for 16 MBPS speed with good cost, is it good buy or you can suggest me some alternative, is there no glass fiber connection possible.
Please help. |
Laptop unable to detect wifi router-MTNL Posted: 07 Sep 2013 12:32 AM PDT I have been using MTNL Wifi since March 2013. One problem that i have been encountering is that my Laptop and android mobile stops detecting the wifi router after 2-3 days of wifi setup. Though it detects the wifi networks of the adjoining areas but doesn't detect mine. Once i reset the wifi modem it starts detecting the modem and wifi works fine. However after 2-3 days this problem occurs again. I complained about this issue to MTNL guys who suggested that this is a common problem being faced by many customers who are using MTNL provided Binatone DSL Wifi Modem. He suggested me to buy my own wifi modem and this issue will get resolved. I recently bought D-Link ADSL+wifi router 2750. But the problem remained as it is. Initially it got connected and after 2-3 days it stopped detecting my wifi modem. I am not able to understand why this thing is happening. The important thing to note here is that my laptop and andorid mobile detects wifi networks in the close vicinity howeven not mine. Once i reset the modem everything works fine and after 2-3 days it will stop detecting the wifi.
Please help as i am not able to find any permanent solution to this problem. |

The general cricket discussion thread Posted: 06 Sep 2013 10:59 PM PDT Why this thread? So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread... Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread... Will start with one post ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Misbah & Taibu seem to competing with each other for the prize of who can bat more defensively.... ---------- After beating NZ in the 3rd ODI with a draing chase... Now Zimbabwe are on verge on possibly upsetting them in the Only Test... 116 needed in 34 Overs (Incl mandatory Overs) with the new ball just taken |
