| Information about Honesty Net Solutions Posted: 06 Sep 2013 02:42 AM PDT I wanted to opt for either fivenet or 1&1. Both are unavailable in my area. Now, local cablewala provides Honesty. And, he quoted unlimited 2Mbps plan for 1599 rs/ month, and 15000 rs/ annum. I liked the plan of 4Mbps @Rs. 1100, for 50GB, it is a prepaid plan inclusive of taxes.I dont know the tariffs of Honesty, it is not given on their website as well. if you could tell what the tariffs are or how to contact honesty, if I want to try to get connection directly from them, if they do so? |

| Frequent Disconnection / ADSL blinking Issue on MTNL Broadband Posted: 06 Sep 2013 02:19 AM PDT Hi, I am a user of 849NU plan of MTNL Triband service since August based out of Navi Mumbai. All of August, i was very happy to have a lovely connection and good speeds, with a pretty good tariff. But now since the past 15 days I am suffering from very intermittent net connection. Although I am connected to the internet, sometimes the webpages take ages to open, and never open, while at other times it opens instantly. Also downloading has the same pattern, sometimes I get very good speeds of upto 200 Kbps, while other times there is no download. Although all download sites show good Triband Speed, but it is the intermittent connection that is the problem. This problem has crept up in the last 15 odd days, and I have tried everything but no change has been noticed. Has anyone else faced a similar problem, and if yes, whats the work around. The people at MTNL classify this as a slow connection problem, but that is exactly not the issue, as I do get good speeds intermittently. Somebody please help me. |

| Beetel 450 TC1 - Reliance Thunder 699 Posted: 06 Sep 2013 12:58 AM PDT Hey guys ! This is the first time I am posting in here and in vain.I had been using Airtel broadband 3-4 months back and recently I had opted for Reliance broadband with the thunder 699 plan. Though I am pretty much satisfied with the speed, but usual disconnection happen saying " Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP Configuration ". This doesn't bother me much, my main problem is that i cannot acces my router settings i followed the procedure Start > CMD > ipconfig > Default gateway IP , used the IP to try to access router setting in Google Chrome, Mozilla and Internet Explorer but none can connect me to it, my default gateway starts like 123.236.x.x . Note sure if it should start with 123 usually its 192 isnt it ?
Even when i used the modem provided by Reliance "ZTE ZXDSL 831 Series " i couldn't access the router settings , I did a Hard reset on my beetel modem too. The beetel router got configured when i connected modem to the router using 2 lan cables i guess ?, I am able to ping my default gateway through cmd and i use direct ethernet cable into my laptop which is a windows 7 64-bit.
Well i should be able to access my router settings right or is it blocked by reliance ?

| MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences Posted: 05 Sep 2013 11:56 PM PDT I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.
SNR margins (SNRM)
Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.
Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here) Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates. I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.
Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

currently bsnl and mtnl are giving 300 kbps upload speeds in 3g. Which is like 2g speed.
I have started a petition to ask MTNL and BSNL to increase upload speeds. WHile other private operators give 1.8-3 mbps uploads MTNL and BSNL have capped upload to measely 300 kbps. both on GSM and CDMA.
If you agree that these speeds are slow then please sign the petition:
Even after paying so much amount we get so slow upload speeds.
I would request you to please sign this petition and i will forward it to telecom minister and other officials so that they can change the cap.

1. Difference between DSL and ADSL and ADSL2+ modem router ?
2. what is 150mbps & 300mbps Wireless Speed Router ???? in india broadband speed is just 2 to 4 mbps we get from isp so i dont know what is the use of buying an 150 or 300 mbps router . which mbps speed they are talking about plz explain ?
3.iam planning to go for BSNL broadband if iam not satisifed with the service i will switch to some other isp . i read that Tp link w8968 model can be used even if i switch to cable or some other isp but i cannot use the same modem router if i choose some other modem router for instance the asus model Asus DSL-N10E Wireless-N150 ADSL. can you please explain me why ????
4. i have a Epson L350 printer it is not wireless printer is it possible to connect the printer to the usb port of the tp link w8968 router and print wirelessly from my samsung tablet or from my laptop wirelessly ???? in other words can i print wirelessly by connecting the non wireless printer to the wireless router .

Free installation and Free activation and Rs100 for smart card. Also told me that he'll offer Transfer kit(?) and when i said that we pay 180rs for normal cable which we are currently using. .he said theres a pack in Reliance for 207Rs in which we'll get most of the channels. . He started the convo saying since you use LCD normal cable has 1.4 V and will dry out your "Liquid" in Liquid Crystal Display" lol Anyways i asked for proof that he works for reliance and he showed some ID card :| Should i take it? |

It is not the most exciting of shows but it does well nonetheless. | BSNL Broadband: How to Troubleshoot Frequent Disconnection Posted: 05 Sep 2013 06:23 PM PDT 1. Post your SNR and Attenuation values. Table for speed less than 8 Mbps  If your values are bad, ask the line man to give a clean line. Make sure there are no joints or non insulated parts. 2. Make sure all connections come after splitter. Follow this diagram  Bypass the splitter, connect the line directly to the modem and check. 3. Check if splitter or ethernet cable is faulty. Use a spare one and check. 4. If possible get a friend's modem and check. That will confirm if modem is faulty or not. 5. Do you get power reset ? If yes, check modem's power adpater and make sure it is functioning well. 6. Try GDMT mode in modem and check. |
