India will tour Zimbabwe for a series of five one-dayers starting July 24 and ending on August 3, the BCCI has confirmed. It will be India's next international assignment after their tri-series in the West Indies that concludes on July 11.

The first three one-dayers will be played in Harare, with the last two in Bulawayo. India had confirmedtheir tour following a BCCI working committee meeting earlier this month. The trip had earlier been put on hold, with the board citing the 'fatigue factor.' It is uncertain at this stage if the selectors will stick to a full-strength squad.

When India last went to Zimbabwe, in 2010, Suresh Raina captained a young side, and didn't make it to the final of the one-day tri-series.

We introduce CloudLight, a system for computing indirect lighting in the Cloud to support real-time rendering for interactive 3D applications on a user's local device.

CloudLight maps the traditional graphics pipeline onto a distributed system. That differs from a single-machine renderer in three fundamental ways. First, the mapping introduces potential asymmetry between computational resources available at the Cloud and local device sides of the pipeline. Second, compared to a hardware memory bus, the network introduces relatively large latency and low bandwidth between certain pipeline stages. Third, for multi-user virtual environments, a Cloud solution can amortize expensive global illumination costs across users.

Our new CloudLight framework explores tradeoffs in different partitions of the global illumination workload between Cloud and local devices, with an eye to how available network and computational power influence design decisions and image quality. We describe the tradeoffs and characteristics of mapping three known lighting algorithms to our system and demonstrate scaling for up to 50 simultaneous CloudLight users.

I created a account on Broadband forum just to create this post. So far the most horrible customer experience and harassment. I have paid the amount and its been close to 3 weeks nothing has happened from their end.

 

PLEASE DONT BUY ACT GUYS... THESE GUYS ARE CHEATING!

 

I had read bad reviews but still they convinced me its only in some parts and now things are getting better ..

 

I paid to one guy named Vinod who promised me connection in 7 days .. its been more than  3 weeks now.

 

There is another guy roaming around in our locality. I asked where the other guy is and there is no response.

 

Jayanagar 2nd block they said is a new addition but have been cheated.

I have subscribed 20GB  2gbps fup plan,but by reaching 18.02GB itself ACT reduced speed.when mailed it claimed that i have crossed the FUP limit.when spoke to customer care & they admitted that i have used 18 gb only by cross checking with the customer care.the care confirmed me that it will be resolved in 24hrs & he had already made a complain requst.Today when i called ur cust care to check the status of my compliant,i came to know there is no compliant request raised by care person on my behalf.    IS THIS UR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE ALREADY CALLED THRICE AND HOLDED MORE THAN 10 MINS TO GET A ANSWER AND ASKED FOR A CALL BACK.

I called up Act several times everytime they tel thr s some technical issue we are forwarding this issue to the technical team and u ll get a cal from them within 24 hours..... Worst Service ACT Broadband in Bangalore

I have applied for ACT connection on 5-July in Narayanpura  but till now  no one has  come for installation .

 

Every day I am calling customer care but they are telling me the same thing  " sir today one engineer will come for installation, sorry for the inconvenience "  .

 

Please tell me what's the meaning of today in ACT's dictionary. I don't want to waste my money and time by calling and sending mail to ACT.

 

I have sent two mail to nodal officer also but still didn't get any response.

 

If you cant give me the service then  return my money . My local broadband Airwired is giving me one day installation. The only reason I choose ACT is because of high speed internet but I can't sustain with low speed service.

6 months advance paid but no connection yet!

I had referred Act Broadband to my relative and as per my advice they have applied for the broadband connection. They were told feasibility for their area was there. They opted for a 6 months advance payment of Rs. 6,732 under the 999 unlimited 15mbps plan. The payment for Rs. 6,732 was made on 13th June 2013 by cash and received the receipt for the same. The A/c No is 316422 and it is in the name of Sarala M B. Since then they haven't got the connection till date and I have been trying to follow up with the customer care guys but all the follow up has gone in vein. Every time I explain the situation they say we have escalated it and u will receive a call from the concerned department shortly, which by the way has never happened till date. After this bitter experience they have applied for a refund which also has not happened. Act has shifted the junction box onto their property. After the box was shifted onto their property the guy who installed the junction box said he dint have the required tools to setup a new connection and hence he said he would come the next day and give the connection. Its been close to 15-20 days since. He or nobody has ever turned up till date to do the needful.

Tikona WiBro Services - Dont Ever go for it

This is a complaint about Tikona Wireless Broadband and see how much frustration a customer would have in selecting this useless service,

1)Jul-2012 i took the Tikona Wireless Brodaband connection for 1mbps speed.
2)They did not even get my address proof for the connection. with this itself i should have understood their quality
3)After that the speed frequently gets down and i had raised so many complaints and many times i did not even have a connection for almost 10 days. For these 10 days they say they will adjust the bill but for an minimal amount.
4)Customer care is another nuisance they dont understand the issue is and they will immediately test our connectivity when server which my modem connects is down and we have to wait for this guys 1/2 an hour as if they are going to solve the issue
5)After we raise a complaint they will assign what they call as Engineers who will never come immediately the customer has to follow him after taking leave from office as if they are going to launch a rocket
6)So called Engineer visits our site and he will adjust the direction of the equipment in the upstairs and he will check the conection and say everything allright, immediately after he leaves the connection will be slow or even down.
7)We have to pay nearly 3000 for 3 months so the reason is after the payment their connection is secured meaning we will not be able to disconnect for 3 months.
8)They will install their CPE, the reason for this installation free of cost is to black mail the customer when they ask for disconnection.
9)first 3 months i paid i.e, from Jul - Sep 2012. Many complaints and i felt they will correct themselves and paid the second due from Oct - Dec 2012. same result. I called the customer care and made a complaint many times,

they some how convinced me saying it will never  happen again.Then i paid my third due from Jan - Mar 2012. same story. i did not disconnect because i thought i will be changing my house so it will be better if i raise a disconnection thinking that they will disconnect immediately since it is wireless. In April 2013, there was no stable connection, called the Customer Care and made a complaint. As usual the so called Engineer  did not turn up and i got frustrated i raised a request for disconnection. After the request is raised the Engineer called me for fixing the issue. I told i disconnected and not needed your service. The next day a guy from Mumbai called me and he spoke in my language(for convincing) and convinced me and promised me it will never happen. I did not have a connection for 10 days again.I was not able to disconnect also because i paid the amount for Apr - Jun 2013

10)After that also the connection was not stable, it was like if it type mail.yahoo.com, enter my username , password and submit bOOOOOOOOh.   it disconnects.  Pay my credit card and after entering all the details final step

Boooooooooooooooooh. disconnected. it did not even know whether the payment is made.
11)They have crossed the limits and waited for the end of june so that the end of bill date arrives.

Chapter 2 The WORST

1)I had raised a disconnection request again on 23-jun-2013 before 4 days of bill end date(26-jun-2013).This 4 days + 30(or even more) = 36 days i did not claim anything, instead i want this Ghost out of my Home.

2)Again they called me asking for the reason. I said i am travelling onsite i need immediate disconnection. This guy was asking me where i am travelling. He don't have any right ask me this question.
then he asked me i will give 30 % discount , can you transfer the connection anyone nearby. This is like some rude owners say that if you vacate the house u have a find another tenant. I said i cant do that.
I don't know who gave freedom for this guys to ask such a question. he told me send a mail quoting the reason. hello boss why should i send a mail with reason i can send  a mail for disconnection thats it, you disconnect, you

doing a public service not a private military rule. i will disconnect the service saying i did not like your name. its my freedom to have or disconnect a service. if i ask for disconnection you have to do it.
While getting the connection. they took only 2 hrs for connection even without address proof but for disconnection see the story

I had made a disconnection request for my Tikona WI-BRO service with acc. no. 1106902159 on 23-jun-2013.
23-jun-2013 i got a confirmation call from tikona for the disconnection.
23-jun-2013 i got a email from tikona regarding the disconnection
24-jun-2013 I had sent a mail from my registered mail id confirming my disconnection.
26-jun-2103 again i got a call from tikona and they confirmed for the disconnection and they updated that a technician will visit my home to collect the installed equipments.
28-jun-2013 again i got a mail from tikona for disconnection.
29-jun-2013 i got a mail with the billing details.
This bill should not have been generated as i had already sent a disconnection confirmation from my registered mail id and also through the call.
i am not using the Tikona Wi-bro services from 22-jun-2013 and the billing has to be adjusted for the non-usage.
There is no more dues to be paid from my side and ask your technician to collect your installed equipments.

It is your responsibility to see to that that equipments are collected in time. It had been almost 1 month it is not collected and i will not be responsible anymore for the equipments for any delay/damage.

On seeing this you can see that they are sending the same mails repeatedly for a month for no reasons making the Customer uncomfortable.

a)They are forcing me to call a guy or a fool whom they outsourced for collecting the equipments. Why should a customer call a guy who will not turn up, even then i did. This is the worst thing making the customer to call a

unknown fool to take the equipments.
b)They sent a mail before saying no dues paid, now they are saying the amount is to be calculated actaully this guys have to refund me for the non-usage period.
c)They are taking more than 1 month for disconnection but for connection they will take 2 hrs without address proof..
d)They send a mail to the customer blackmailing that equipments is not collected need to pay 1500.

 

As per their mail,

The activities are summarized against your Service Request Number 1-2712199844, dated : 6/23/2013 09:42:29 AM

from 23/06/2013 + 16 days = 10-jul-2013 the equipments shouls have been collected, they will not collect the equipments and will send mails irritating the customer.
The reason for disconnection is i am travelling onsite. What nonsense is the point 1, they will take 10 days to resolve my problem. They should immediately disconnect.

These guys are giving the worst service that any telecom company will give and if we disconnect they will call all nuisance.

Apart from these i made so many calls to the Customer Care to the toll-free which is not easily reachable and many times to their chargeable number in Mumbai
i lost my amount paid to them
i lost many banking transactions because of the worst service they had provided
i am totally stressed by these guys for which I am filing a case for compensation..

I also did the msg looking into the forum that, ACT VMS to 111 but i got the message, "Sorry! you are not allowed to subscribe this request."

Airtel Broadband disconnects often - Outlook and Skype disturbed

Hi All,

We have taken a 8 Mbps Airtel broadband for our office usage. We are totally unhappy with the frequent disconnects that happens. Our outlook client and the skype calls are losing connection often. From the day it got installed, the problem persists. We made a complaint to them, they gave a complaint number to follow up, someone came to resolve the issue, he did something to change the copper connection but still the problem continues, the compliant is open for more than 2 weeks. The so-called "good customer care from private broadband providers" is no more valid. Can anyone suggest a better alternate for Airtel?

How Many of you faced Unbearable Delay and Denial in trying to cancel your Airtel Broadband account?

Hi all, 

     I had been a loyal customer of airtel for around 3 years. I was satisfied by their services (albeit costly), prompt grievance redressal.

          But once i decided to shift to new location, where airtel is not available, and applied for cancellation it has been a horrible and nightmarish experience for me.

           I applied for cancellation on 28th June. They assured me that cancellation will be completed within 7 days. But to my utter surprise, the week ended without any action. then i again called 121, they had no idea about previous request. They filed new request without resolving the first one. From then till now, my cancellation has not been processed and i am being forced to bang my head at their customer-service-wall in frustration. 121 guys say they dont know anything except accepting the requests. Basically, i believe,  my account is being unnecessarily and deliberately kept active to thrust bills.

             This fear became more reasonable once i saw these past requests of other guys after googling. 

 

        In one of these cases, they even slapped legal notice for bills for months without any basis and employed strategy of threatening calls! I am not giving my details because i have lost my trust in them. I doubt they will  solve problem here except generating that cc-ed/general response to resolve soon.

 

          Now, my question to you is

1)Did any of you face such a situation earlier? How did you respond?

2)How to tackle this unnecessary harrasment? Is there any remedy-legal or otherwise

3)Isn't it unwise for Airtel (and surprizing for us) to lose the goodwill/trust generated in such cheap tactics? Or does business happens like this only?

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton is feeling positive after completing his first laps in the team's 2008 challenger, the MP4-23, on Thursday. Hamilton was in action at Jerez alongside new team mate Heikki Kovalainen, as the British squad continued their three-day private test at the Spanish circuit.

"It was fantastic to get my hands on the MP4-23 this morning in Jerez," said the 23 year-old. "I saw the completed car for the first time on Monday at the team's launch in Stuttgart and I have been pretty impatient since then! My first run was at 09:10 and my first impressions are encouraging.

"I covered over 103 laps, which is 456kms, today. Considering this is only the second day the car has been on track, I am pretty happy with that. We have a lot of work to do, but now we have a real understanding of where we are starting from. I will be back in the MP4-23 with Heikki tomorrow and I am looking forward to continuing the programme and moving forward."

Kovalainen, who got his first taste of the new car on Wednesday, alongside tester Pedro de la Rosa, was equally pleased with his own progress.

"Today was my second day with the MP4-23 and I have now been able to complete over 447kms in total," said the Finn. "We are all still spending time learning about the car and starting to get used to it. That we were on track for 204 laps in total today is definitely helping us to learn and progress with the car.

"For me in particular the car is very different from last year, and I have been focusing on that side of things. Settling into the team has been very easy."

Hamilton clocked the day's best time, a 1m 19.132s, while Kovalainen's best lap was completed in 1m 19.462s. The duo will continue to test at the track on Friday.

Fernando Alonso topped the timesheets on his return to Renault today at Jerez lapping the Spanish circuit a tenth clear of countryman Pedro de la Rosa. It was an impressive return to the team for Alonso as he put in 70 laps with a best time of 1:19.503s.

It was a busy day for the McLaren Mercedes team with de la Rosa putting in 111 laps in his MP4-23 while Kovalainen sixth fastest, completed 130 laps in the new machine.

Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were third and fifth fastest respectively for Ferrari with Nico Rosberg running well in his FW29 with the fourth fastest time.

Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais proved closely matched for Toro Rosso Ferrari with the seventh and eighth fastest times while Mark Webber was ninth best in the Red Bull Renault.

Kazuke Nakajima rounded out the top ten in his Williams Toyota ahead of Timo Glock in the leading Toyota TF108 and Giancarlo Fisichella in the Force India Ferrari. We made good progress throughout the day, but there is a lot still to do. Massa ties the knot

On Friday, Felipe Massa and his girlfriend Rafaela Bassi got married in Sao Paulo. The pair made their wedding vows in the Nossa Senora do Brasil church with Jean Todt, Stefano Domenicali, Mario Almondo, Aldo Costa, Luca Baldisserri and Luca Colajanni attending the ceremony. Of course Nicolas Todt, the manager of Massa, could not be missed during the wedding. F1technical wants to congratulate Felipe and Rafaela with their marriage!

Former F1 Champion Alan Jones reckons Michael Schumacher may be considering a comeback after an impressive test at Barcelona two week's ago.

Although Schumacher retired from F1 at the end of the 2006 season, the German returned to action with Ferrari at the Spanish track in the first of the winter tests.

The seven-time World Champion proved to be the man to beat as he dominated the timesheets during his two days of testing.

And although Schumacher has stated many times that his test does not mean he will be making a competitive comeback, Jones reckons the thought has to have crossed Schumi's mind.

"After nearly a year out of the saddle, I can image him thinking, 'Maybe I'd like to have another go.' It must be just like coming back from an extended Christmas break," Jones told Autosport.

"He used to take a couple of months off at the end of each season, so another few months won't make a big difference. Two or three years might have done.

"It's a win-win situation: Ferrari gains from his expertise and he enjoys it. And you can never rule out a comeback - he might be thinking, 'I'm really enjoying this!' Money won't be his motivation, it will be to prove a point.

"Niki Lauda was out for several seasons and came back and won the title. Michael could do the same."

Schumacher misses Massa's wedding day

Dec.3 (GMM) A representative for Michael Schumacher has played down speculation that he may have fallen out with his former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa.



In the presence of many of his Ferrari colleagues, 26-year-old married his fiancee Rafaela Bassi, who is 27, in Sao Paulo last Friday, according to reports from Brazil and Italy.



Among the 800 guests were team bosses Jean Todt and Stefano Domenicali, as well as Mario Almondo, Aldo Costa and Luca Baldisserri -- but not Schumacher, his 2006 teammate.



Massa's countryman Rubens Barrichello also attended, reports said.



Days earlier, the former seven time world champion, Schumacher, won a karting event hosted by Massa in the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis.



The German newspaper Bild am Sonntag said Schumacher had celebrated Massa's impending marriage with his former teammate and friend in the days prior.



A representative for Schumacher said: "Michael is currently in the United States for a family vacation."

RBR signs Vettel for 2009

Red Bull Racing has confirmed that it has signed Sebastian Vettel to partner Mark Webber in its 2009 driver line-up.
A vacancy opened up at the Milton Keynes-based squad following David Coulthard's decision to retire at the end of this season, and Vettel has been widely tipped for promotion from Red Bull's 'B' team Toro Rosso.
However there has also been speculation that RBR was trying to entice double world champion Fernando Alonso away from Renault, but the Spaniard remains non-committal about his plans for next year and has been linked to a move to Ferrari in 2010.
Team principal Christian Horner said he was confident that, despite Vettel's youth and relative inexperience, the 21-year-old German was the right choice.
"We are delighted that Sebastian will be joining us next year," said Horner.
"With David Coulthard announcing his retirement as a Formula 1 driver a fortnight ago at the British Grand Prix, after careful consideration, it seemed natural to announce his replacement here at Sebastian's home race in Hockenheim.
"As he was already part of the Red Bull family, choosing Sebastian as Mark Webber's team-mate was not a difficult decision.
