Reliance Broadband down in Mumbai - western suburbs Posted: 26 Jul 2013 01:52 AM PDT My Internet service has been down for the last 4 days and Reliance Broadband customer service would promise to get it rectified. Eventually I got really pissed and asked to talk to a manager. My Krishna came online and informed me that the problem is with Reliance and BMC as Reliance has not paid the rents and BMC has cut the service and they have no "ETR" aka ETA for the service to be up. Well so I figured that this is now not working for me. I am already fishing for another provider in the Mumbai murky waters. Apparently the Reliance Broadband service has had this problem earlier; Mr. Krishna told me so and this has been corroborated by this Forum and also my family informed me the same - I was traveling out of India and recollected the issue. Reliance and BMC have problems and all that Reliance really does is dig elsewhere and provide access. This is cheating in my opinion. If the company does not have a proper cable system, has rent issues or plain does not have the necessary infrastructure to provide a service, they should not sell the service. I may go to the consumer court for the loss of my opportunities and the time spent on call and still not having internet access. If there are other people in the Western suburbs facing this problem, please ping me and let us get together to file a case against Reliance. |

User Review: Samsung Chromebook Posted: 26 Jul 2013 12:51 AM PDT So, I finally got my hands on the much desired Samsung Chromebook. It is a tiny little package with pretty nice display. Build quality? Typical Samsung. Does not feel solid. Performance wise, the dual core ARM processor is not very good. It works fine on regular web pages but load a few heavy ones and everything turns into a mess. I tried surfing the forum while listening to Google Music in another tab. Horrible user experience. Browser literally cried. I guess 2GB RAM does not matter much when the processor is grossly underpowered? In any case, dad seems to be quite satisfied with it. It boots incredibly fast. Display is better than the previous netbook he had. It's wider so most web pages fit fine on it. Battery life is something I would only find out in the days to come. But should suffice for his needs if Google's 6.5 hours claim is anywhere close to real world figures. Here are a bunch of random photos. Bad quality. I was just too eager to open it up and start playing with it so used my phone instead of my regular camera. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Unique Identification Authority of India (Aadhaar) Posted: 26 Jul 2013 12:45 AM PDT the govts plans to have a biometric national id cards for everyone by 2010.In usa the real id act is facing fierce resistance as 20 states have signed legislation opposition this as well in UK as groups like defyid and no2id.THis national id card makes india a police state, mass surveillance society and blurs the difference btw nazi germany and india. the supreme court has interpreted that we have the right to privacy which the national id card violates. Why isnt anyone doing to stop this.I contacted times of india ,cnn ibn, ndtv but got no reply?. we already have voter id card, passport, driver license, ration card, pan card(similar to social security card in us.).EVen is usa the ss card is not to be used as a id card.why do we need a chip card?the only thing that i can think is abut control and monitoring us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multipurpose_National_Identity_Card_(India) once everyone has this card the govt can track your every move and switch your card if you resist or dissent. those who give up liberty for security neither deserve liberty nor security-Benjamin Franklin. the cons of having a national id card NO2ID:why not? videos http://broadbandforum.in/politics/33896-we-soon-get-our-national-id-card/3/#post315359 http://broadbandforum.in/politics/33896-we-soon-get-our-national-id-card/2/#post278474 http://broadbandforum.in/politics/33896-we-soon-get-our-national-id-card/5/#post315728 hacking http://broadbandforum.in/politics/33896-national-id-cards-india/8/#post325815 can we stop this? |

How Many of you faced Unbearable Delay and Denial in trying to cancel your Airtel Broadband account? Posted: 25 Jul 2013 11:42 PM PDT Hi all, I had been a loyal customer of airtel for around 3 years. I was satisfied by their services (albeit costly), prompt grievance redressal. But once i decided to shift to new location, where airtel is not available, and applied for cancellation it has been a horrible and nightmarish experience for me. I applied for cancellation on 28th June. They assured me that cancellation will be completed within 7 days. But to my utter surprise, the week ended without any action. then i again called 121, they had no idea about previous request. They filed new request without resolving the first one. From then till now, my cancellation has not been processed and i am being forced to bang my head at their customer-service-wall in frustration. 121 guys say they dont know anything except accepting the requests. Basically, i believe, my account is being unnecessarily and deliberately kept active to thrust bills. This fear became more reasonable once i saw these past requests of other guys after googling.
In one of these cases, they even slapped legal notice for bills for months without any basis and employed strategy of threatening calls! I am not giving my details because i have lost my trust in them. I doubt they will solve problem here except generating that cc-ed/general response to resolve soon.
Now, my question to you is 1)Did any of you face such a situation earlier? How did you respond? 2)How to tackle this unnecessary harrasment? Is there any remedy-legal or otherwise 3)Isn't it unwise for Airtel (and surprizing for us) to lose the goodwill/trust generated in such cheap tactics? Or does business happens like this only? |

Fernando Alonso News and Updates Posted: 25 Jul 2013 10:02 PM PDT Fernando Alonso topped the timesheets on his return to Renault today at Jerez lapping the Spanish circuit a tenth clear of countryman Pedro de la Rosa. It was an impressive return to the team for Alonso as he put in 70 laps with a best time of 1:19.503s. It was a busy day for the McLaren Mercedes team with de la Rosa putting in 111 laps in his MP4-23 while Kovalainen sixth fastest, completed 130 laps in the new machine. Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were third and fifth fastest respectively for Ferrari with Nico Rosberg running well in his FW29 with the fourth fastest time. Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais proved closely matched for Toro Rosso Ferrari with the seventh and eighth fastest times while Mark Webber was ninth best in the Red Bull Renault. Kazuke Nakajima rounded out the top ten in his Williams Toyota ahead of Timo Glock in the leading Toyota TF108 and Giancarlo Fisichella in the Force India Ferrari. Kamui Kobayashi brought up the bottom of the timesheets in the second Toyota while Super Aguri Honda did not run after problems encountered yesterday. Renault continued its preparations for 2008 today with Fernando Alonso taking over driving responsibilities from Nelson Piquet. It was an important day as it was Alonso's first appearance in Renault colours since being confirmed as a 2008 race driver in December. Arriving at the Jerez circuit yesterday evening, the Spaniard spoke to the engineers to understand how the first day of the programme had gone, and to prepare for his two days work with the team. His first day behind the wheel gave the Spaniard the opportunity to drive a car in accordance with the 2008 electronic regulations, and most significantly without traction control. It was also a good opportunity to reacclimatise to the team with which he has worked for six years in the past. At the end of the session, having covered 70 laps, the overall result was an encouraging first day as Alonso topped the timesheet with a best lap of 1:19.503s. Fernando Alonso "The result of my first day in the car is encouraging. I could not wait to drive again, but at the same time I was a bit tentative. I quickly settled back in to the team and everything went well. We made good progress throughout the day, but there is a lot still to do. I had to adapt at first to the car and get used to driving the car without traction control, but I am convinced that that soon I will be used to this and will not remember what is was like to drive with traction control." |

Red Bull Racing News and Updates Posted: 25 Jul 2013 10:01 PM PDT RBR signs Vettel for 2009 Thursday, 17 July 2008 13:21 Red Bull Racing has confirmed that it has signed Sebastian Vettel to partner Mark Webber in its 2009 driver line-up. A vacancy opened up at the Milton Keynes-based squad following David Coulthard's decision to retire at the end of this season, and Vettel has been widely tipped for promotion from Red Bull's 'B' team Toro Rosso. However there has also been speculation that RBR was trying to entice double world champion Fernando Alonso away from Renault, but the Spaniard remains non-committal about his plans for next year and has been linked to a move to Ferrari in 2010. Team principal Christian Horner said he was confident that, despite Vettel's youth and relative inexperience, the 21-year-old German was the right choice. "We are delighted that Sebastian will be joining us next year," said Horner. "With David Coulthard announcing his retirement as a Formula 1 driver a fortnight ago at the British Grand Prix, after careful consideration, it seemed natural to announce his replacement here at Sebastian's home race in Hockenheim. "As he was already part of the Red Bull family, choosing Sebastian as Mark Webber's team-mate was not a difficult decision. RBR signs Vettel for 2009 - F1 | ITV Sport |
