Awesome Connection!

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 02:38 AM PDT

To Beam Broadband,

I was a little skeptical about taking up Beam Broadband because it is new in my area, but I've been using Beam for the past 2 months now and I couldn't be happier! It took me 2 days to get my connection active, and there's been no looking back since. I used to have to wait half a day to download a 700 MB Movie, but now I downloaded season 3 of Game of Thrones(3.4GB) in less than an hour!

Till now I have only had one issue and that was fixed, so can't really complain there. Much better than my previous connection! I would definitely advise getting Beam for those who need a super fast connection. Keep it up guys!

Warm Regards,

Rajeev Kumar

Wireless Speakers For House

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 02:16 AM PDT

Hello,

So, I've been to some houses, especially in the USA and they have this system where they have one music player somewhere in the house and then they can control speakers wirelessly that are set up across the house in various different rooms? Like one speaker per room or something?

Or can I just buy one music player and then just stick speakers in different rooms?

Indian Mobile Phone brands

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 01:41 AM PDT

Hello Everybody

I always have an opinion that we should not invest considerable money in Google Android based mobile phones if it is not the top end mobile phone.

Buying Google Nexus based mobile phones would protect our investment for some period of time.

As daily new mobile phones from Indian Companies or foreign companies are being released.

So, i always would keep an eye on India based Android brands.

As I have seen many mid-range android mobile phones from prominent brands too sucks.

But, people around me would always advise me to resist Android mobile phones developed or sold by Indian companies.

Previously, india based android mobile phones would small battery to easily deem it as inferior.

But nowadays only differentiation for India based android mobile phones are the processor being used, which is always would be based on MTK.

Are all in-expensive android mobile phones sold by Indian Companies are that much inferior or short-lived ?

Are all mobile phones sold by Indian companies are Chinese re-branded models ?

I invite members who use Android mobile phones sold by Indian companies to give their insights,

I need a broadband connection (Hyderabad)

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 01:04 AM PDT

Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum in the quest of finding a decent broadband service in my locality (Saidabad)

I had been a 'patient' customer of You Broadband for more than 8 years (ever since they were known as Iquara). They had an excellent product with painful service. Off late their product went to dogs competing their service and in the last 6 months, the pain is just not bearable.

Intermittent disconnections, outages almost daily, terrible inconsistencies in speed (I use a 10 Mbps connection, but you never know which time in the day it gives more than 30% of the promised consistently for 30 mins.. I still have this puzzle unsolved), cable cuts is a monthly affair and it takes 7 to 10 days to rectify after 10 to 20 phone calls.

Finally I gave up and determined to switch to a better service. Initially I planned to go for Beam and I placed a request and they promised to give a connection in 48 hours. It has been 17 days so far, and I have made 6 calls to them only to hear the same answer... "Oh, our guys still did not approach you. I apologize. This time we will definitely do it. Please wait for another 48 hours". Looks like this saga will not be any shorter than a daily serial on the TV.

Checked with Airtel, where I found the worst website experience ever. After 8 days of continuous effort, I received an SMS from them that they cannot offer the service in my locality.

Now my biggest request to all the members of this forum, especially the people from Hyderabad and in and around Saidabad. Is there any broadband service that I can subscribe to? I don't have great expectations, if they are going to be better than YOU Broadband, I am more than happy. I don't really want to go back to that devil. Please suggest.

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind assistance.

Excellent and Unexpected Service From Mtnl Mumbai

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 12:54 AM PDT

Hi,

I have been a MTNL mumbai user since long back when they had the 4500 unlimited plan.

After that, i migrated to the Rs.2500  100 Gb plan.

Usually never needed any support except once when i needed a Sim change and that was handled pretty fast the CSC.

Just wanted to let users know about my current experience.

So, I use the Sim in Mumbai, Pune and Currently have just Moved onto Bangalore where i am using my MTNL mumbai sim on Roaming for Data Only.

Since moving to bangalore, was facing a severe speed issue and speeds never crossed 50 kbps (the kbps is correct) which from my understanding, was slower that my vodafone 2g which i use on Mobile (unfortunately, vodafone does not have 3g in Karnataka).

After filing 2-3 complaints and getting pissed off, i finally wrote a email explaining my problem in details, providing my contact number and all relevant information and emailed to a few emails ids i found. i will not post them here but they are available on the MTNL mumbai website for all.(if someone is not able to find it and has tried all other resolution mechanisms, let me know and i will provide it)

This i sent at around 11 Am 23rd July 2014 (yesterday)

Now the magic started happening. Within ~30 mins  get a call from MTNL Mumbai clarifying my problem and asking locations details of where exactly i am and so on.

This was followed up by an Email confirming that the problem is under resolution and both MTNL and BSNL(since karnataka is BSNL) officials have been informed and that i should be getting multiple calls from different locations soon and continuous followup happening.

Next, around 3 Pm, someone from MTNL mumbai called me saying that we have not found any problems with the MTNL network in Mumbai and the problem lies somewhere else and we can only check once i come back to mumbai. she did not seem to know i was not in mumbai but in bangalore (maybe this person was not informed )

next around 15 mins after that, i get another call confirming the same as above and updating me that BSNL has been informed and they are continuously following up on this and will keep me updated. They also mentioned that they are sharing my contact details with BSNL and i should expect a call soon.

around 5 Pm, i get a call from BSNL  asking me mylocation details, where i am using and so on.

Now, Today, around 11 Am, i get a call from MTNL mumbai asking me when is the best time to call me and put me on conference with a team from BSNL (was shocked that they actually care about mytime preference)

Now, i get a call from MTNL and then they put me in conference with a guy from ZTE - BSNL which i think handles their network in Karnataka.

Did not need to explain anything else and the guy from BSNL just asked me to connect to internet and check the speed and he is doing the same from his end (something like adding my number on his monitor or something).

Seeing vast improvement in speed. Youtube videos playing perfectly.

In the past 1 hour, i have already received 3 confirmation calls(from the same guy from MTNL) for the speed issue, explaining me the issue and apologizing and providing direct contact details of the person from BSNL and asking me to call him directly for any issues i face in future.

Sorry for the Long post but this kind of a service given by MTNL was worth the post.

btw, currently getting 2 mbps in Bangalore on 3G

India in Zimbabwe 2013

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 12:25 AM PDT

http://www.espncricinfo.com/zimbabwe-v-india-2013/content/current/story/643679.html

India will tour Zimbabwe for a series of five one-dayers starting July 24 and ending on August 3, the BCCI has confirmed. It will be India's next international assignment after their tri-series in the West Indies that concludes on July 11.

The first three one-dayers will be played in Harare, with the last two in Bulawayo. India had confirmedtheir tour following a BCCI working committee meeting earlier this month. The trip had earlier been put on hold, with the board citing the 'fatigue factor.' It is uncertain at this stage if the selectors will stick to a full-strength squad.

When India last went to Zimbabwe, in 2010, Suresh Raina captained a young side, and didn't make it to the final of the one-day tri-series.

The Congress continues to spin the news in favour of the Gandhis, but why do TV networks let it?

Posted: 24 Jul 2013 12:15 AM PDT

Stories impacting Sonia's image are carefully choreographed right at the top, at the level of promoters and editors who are on first-name terms with key Congress functionaries such as Ahmed Patel. But Patel, the consummate spin doctor, also has a line with beat reporters; they need each other in the demanding 24x7 news cycle where a single 'untutored' line could damage the Congress President's image. It is a tradeoff that works well for both. While the lowly reporter can impress his bosses by claiming he has knowledge of closely-held developments, Patel gets to ensure that Sonia's image remains unsullied.

Fake court officials, lawyers and arrest warrants

Posted: 23 Jul 2013 11:45 PM PDT

Reliance communication recovery agent pose as Court officials and lawyers. The fake court official from another city calls up tells you that an arrest warrant has been issued in your name and you need to call up a lawyer for out of court settlement in another hour. The fake lawyer asks you to pay the wrongly charged reliance bill in one hour saying that otherwise you will be arrested.

All of this was done when I have been wrongly overcharged by reliance broadband and I have already done overpayment. They claim that I need  to pay Rs 1000 more, although Reliance needs to refund me more than Rs 2500.

Five-year FIA cost-culling plan revealed
15/10/08

A British newspaper has revealed the FIA's five-year plan to radically slash costs, with the body's president arguing Formula One has become 'unsustainable'.

The centrepiece of the package, to be discussed with the F1 teams' alliance FOTA next week in Geneva, is the standardisation of expensive car parts that add little to the show.

The London publication The Times claims that Bernie Ecclestone, the Chief Executive of F1's commercial rights holder, backs the Max Mosley-devised plan to 'dramatically' cut costs.

Among the measures is the introduction of a controversial standard engine design for 2010, additional energy recovery systems and fuel-efficient engines for 2013, and many 'common parts' for the chassis.

"We are completely open to new ideas," Mosley, albeit insisting that engines must be made available to small teams at a low cost, said in a letter to the team bosses.

An FIA spokesman said he will not comment prior to the meeting.

It is not the most exciting of shows but it does well nonetheless. I like the primary character because of his stupid smile and the way he handle things while narrating it to audience how he does it.

Remember a few weeks back when we reported that Google was working on an ultra-affordable Chrome dongle for TVs or displays called the Chromekey? At the time, we thought Chromekey would be the device name and that you would be able to "CAST" (term used by our source) your Chrome browser from desktop or mobile Chrome browser to any display to have a bigger browsing experience. Well, according to Google Play support docs, that device appears to have been renamed to Chromecast.

OpenOffice - LibreOffice

Posted: 23 Jul 2013 01:13 PM PDT

The second beta of this office suite, which competes with Microsoft Office, was launched on September 1 and the final has been awaited by the consumer base since a long time. Stefan Taxhet, one of the developers said on his Blog post: “It would have been nice to release OpenOffice.org 2.0 at the 13th of October. But in the last minute a serious showstopper (#i55330#) has been brought up. In a discussion on IRC, we agreed that this is reason enough to start work on RC3.”

This major upgrade would be the first one of the version history of this office suite to produce the new XML-based standard ODF (OpenDocument format). This format has been sanctioned internationally only last May by OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards).
