Custom Plans on Airtel Broadband Posted: 03 Apr 2014 03:42 AM PDT Airtel called me today and said since I'd taken Smartbytes for 12gb last month, they wanted to offer 125 fup plan(80gb now) at the same speed(8mbps) for 50rs extra.
I also heard they are giving 3g at 2g rates in my area these days. Is airtel on a PR improving spree? Anyone got offers like this? |

Are you D.I.Y Type, Post Your Do-It-YourSelf type Hacks and mods you did Posted: 03 Apr 2014 03:18 AM PDT Broadbandforum certainly is a addiction I am having, so I was thinking what One thing I am missing here is the D.I.Y. stuff.
To start with me, I've a big bad itch of modding things, and my little obsessed by Electronics and L.E.D. lights are my weak point. I am irritatingly crazy about L.E.D. be it my work table, be it my bedroom, stairs, my car, my 18 yrs old scooter, my Laptop Chillpad, even my Kids Tri-Cycle has L.E.D. in it.
While I know this may not be of interest for everybody, but I am sure my fellow peers here must be having some kind of D.I.Y. skills in them. So please participate and post what you made in past or currently doing.
My Most Recent & Current D.I.Y stuff Includes
1). A L.E.D. Strobe Light made from PIC 12f629, flashes same way like we see in aircraft. (pics + video soon) 2). Made a PIC Programmer which works using Serial Port of desktop to burn Hex Code to the PIC (Programmable Integrated Circuit.) 3). Last night Made a USB Powered Very Bright Light consists of 2 x 1 watt White L.E.D. Runs off USB Port or mobile charger and is Blinding Bright. 4). Just finished a Serial Interface to RESET my konked Seagate Barracuda HDD which has firmware bug and will be trying it tomorrow night. (video soon). 5). Moded my kids' toy as it was Battery Hungry, no matter what I put into that Poh Engine, it exhausted battery within 30 mins, Now it has a 4V, 0.5Ah rechargable sunca easy to charge and runs far more than any damn re-chargeable battery out there. 6). Moded Netgear USB Wi-Fi Adapter to work with external Antenna. (yet to go to rooftop)
and around few hundred old mods thrown somewhere in house.
Pics from this Crazy Man
Toy Modified :-)
The PIC Programmer with 6V modification
The Serial Interface for connecting to HDD via hyper terminal, basically its just a interface to mod 12v based serial interface to 5v which is needed for HDD recovery.
The Awesome L.E.D. Light Good when you just need a few seconds on keyboard and regret that your laptop doesn't has a backlit keyboard.
Thought of lighting up keyboard, it lights up the enter desk and part of room.
(Imgur doesn't works without problems, so I've stopped using it.)
More to come soon.....

Aam Aadmi Party want you to rename your wireless network to promote them... Posted: 03 Apr 2014 02:27 AM PDT Such a crappy idea... This guy is actually asking you to keep Wi-Fi Hotspot on your phone always on. Idiocy. |
Posted: 03 Apr 2014 02:16 AM PDT http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/08/windows-phone-notifications/ You know how it goes, you buy a phone on eBay, and it comes with a developer / pre-release version of a major mobile OS. Well, if these images are to be believed, that's at least what happened to one bargain-hunting Windows Phone fan. The screenshots -- said to be taken from a Nokia 920 -- show Windows Phone 8, but with a few new tweaks and features. Most notable, will likely be the notifications, but other tidbits include App list ordering based on frequency of use, week view in the calendar and the option to kill apps from the multitask screen. The phone reports a build number of: 12084.WPMAIN(wpbldlab).20130509-1407 leading some to infer that this version could have been compiled sometime in May. A tease of something to come? As always, hard to tell, but expect the price of second-hand 920s to bump up a little, for the next few weeks at least. |
Micromax would manufacture Windows Phone smartphones Posted: 03 Apr 2014 02:08 AM PDT Twitter / WindowsPhoneInd: RT @vineetdurani Welcome ... I guess it makes sense for them considering the software is now free and they do not have to worry much about software because Microsoft takes care of it. |
Frequent Disconnection / ADSL blinking Issue on MTNL Broadband Posted: 03 Apr 2014 02:02 AM PDT Hi, I am a user of 849NU plan of MTNL Triband service since August based out of Navi Mumbai. All of August, i was very happy to have a lovely connection and good speeds, with a pretty good tariff. But now since the past 15 days I am suffering from very intermittent net connection. Although I am connected to the internet, sometimes the webpages take ages to open, and never open, while at other times it opens instantly. Also downloading has the same pattern, sometimes I get very good speeds of upto 200 Kbps, while other times there is no download. Although all download sites show good Triband Speed, but it is the intermittent connection that is the problem. This problem has crept up in the last 15 odd days, and I have tried everything but no change has been noticed. Has anyone else faced a similar problem, and if yes, whats the work around. The people at MTNL classify this as a slow connection problem, but that is exactly not the issue, as I do get good speeds intermittently. Somebody please help me. |

Google Maps and Google Earth Updates Posted: 03 Apr 2014 01:15 AM PDT "Google Earth utilizes broadband streaming technology and 3D graphics, much like a videogame, enabling users to interactively explore the world-- either their own neighborhood or the far corners of the globe," said Keyhole general manager John Hanke. Unlike Google Maps, Google Earth also lets users rotate their view to see terrain and buildings, and add annotations to maps. Google Earth can be downloaded for Windows; a Mac version is currently in development. Read more |
