Just had the Hathway rep come up and announce that DAS packages are going to be implemented with immediate effect and has given me 24hrs to submit the form with packages/channels selected.

Assembling a CPU

The time has come for me to change my CPU. So want your suggestions in my budget to the best configuration available.
My usage is going to be only browsing, downloading, YouTube and Minecraft. Not more.
I don't have much clue about the configuration required for CPUs but I think I'll want about 500GBs of hard drive and decent internals. Also, a 64 bit Windows(7 or 8?).
Any suggestions as to the RAM, Motherboard, Processor, HDD, DVD drives, power unit, Cage, Graphics Card, etc?
I want this CPU to last me about 6 years, like my current one did.
Budget is around 15-20K. Plus if my old CPU sells, I'll add that here too.

An FIR has been lodged against search engine giant Google under the IT Act following a complaint by a local for allegedly facilitating pornographic content on android based mobile phones, easily accessible to underage users.
Singh alleged that the application gives easy access to children, who are being attracted to the pornographic material, Station House officer of Cantt, Vipin Rai said.

The horror called Delhivery

I placed an order for Micromax Canvas 2 Plus via Snapdeal this Sunday. Since this was my first order from them so I thought of going with COD option. The order was dispatched on Monday via Delhivery. Item reached Delhi on the Tuesday night(6th). Since then its roaming across several of Delhivery's offices. Yesterday I contacted them to enquire about my delivery. The lady at the phone specifically mentioned that the delay was caused because the package got misplaced. Its natural for me to get suspicious. I wanted to open the package before handing them over the money.

 

Anyways, today afternoon the package landed finally at the center nearest(Janakpuri Hub) to my home. Phew. I had already called them before to enquire upon which I was reassured that it will be disapatched as soon as it arrives at their Janakpuri hub. It landed there at 3:15 pm. By 5:10 pm it had not arrived. I called them again and learnt from the talks behind the handset that there was no one to deliver it. WOW. :o I heard the following conversation:
 
"Yaar us phone waale package ka kya hua? Badi transaction hai. Yaar koi hai ni deliver karne ke liye. Yaar jaldi karwa. Okay."  Awesome attitude from a company which is specialised in handling logistics for e-commerce companies.
 
Now I got a bit angry. I called them again at 6 to tell ki bhaiyaa agar aaj de rahe ho toh theek hai warna apne paas rakhna. Because I won't be able to collect it tomorrow. He said, sir we will deliver it. Now uptil now the status page kept saying that its at Janakpuri center. Just 1 minute after the call, the following status appeared:
 

Dispatched | Aug. 8, 2013, 6:10 p.m. | Dispatched for Delivery | Janakpuri (Delhi) | Delhivery

Wow. It worked. Around 6:20 I got a call from the delivery boy who was asking, sir package leke aa jaaoon? I literally facepalmed and said yaar ab bhi puchega. He said, sir I had to confirm since its a COD Item. He also mentioned that he will be able to hand over the package only when I will hand him the money. I said I will check the package first since you had yesterday mentioned about it getting misplaced. I mean how can I? I had the cash with change ready but I wanted to be sure. I said, anyways come and we will see.
 
Around 15 minutes later these messages were posted.

Blatant Lies. How do they know sitting at their office that I don't have the money? Also the item never got dispatched. Liars. That's how they washed off their responsbility and put the whole blame on the customer. I just wanted to confirm. Its okay if they can't do that. I understand but atleast stop lying. I called them in anger and asked how can they lie. They had hardly any justification. More so because I was angry I was not even in a mood to listen. I said I am complaining to Snapdeal and their superiors. He said, Kardo and disconnected.

 

I called Snapdeal and explained them the situation. He said me to wait for 1 more day. And just now Snapdeal has closed the order saying "Item returned by customer."

 

Facepalm.

 

Lessons Learnt: COD is a mess. Avoid Delhivery and Snapdeal.

Hey there people! Okay so i just moved from Laxmi Nagar, Delhi to Greater Noida. My friend got pacenet and he get 20+ mbps on torrents from torbox.net . So i figured it out that only registered ISPs can get speed. Im new to this thing and i wanna experience it too! So my question is.."is there any good isp that provides p2p support? If yes then can i access torbox.net with good speed? I called "perfect internet" and they said we can get upto 50mbps if we download stuff from their site only 0.o...can you explain me what do they mean by "our site"? All i need is extreme good speed on torrents :c

Archana Sundaram, a 1980 batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed special director in the CBI.
The appointment of Sundaram, the first woman officer to have been appointed special director in the country's premier investigating agency, came after a ding-dong tussle in which CBI chief Ranjit Sinha prevailed over the five-member board.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has demanded immediate withdrawal of a "fundamentally flawed" draft proposal that would effectively place Australia, England and India in charge of the world game.
Put forward by a working group of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Finance and Commercial Affairs committee, the proposal recommends international calendar and revenue share being controlled by the three boards who bring the most income to the game.
In a letter to all full members of the ICC and its president Alan Isaac, CSA president Chris Nenzani said more consultation was needed into the merits of the proposal and felt the ICC has not followed its own setout procedures in this case.

Just started. One episode. Started a bit slow. But got interesting at the end. Would be keeping an eye on this one.

The series is set in a small town in Pennsylvania Amish country and features an enigmatic ex-con posing as a murdered sheriff who imposes his own brand of justice while also cooking up plans that serve his own interests.


Looks to have a religious angle which is something that I am not a fan of.

Using the Dlink 2750u as a true Ethernet WAN router

I'd actually already posted on how to use the Dlink 2750u as a full fledged Ethernet WAN router, but it was a few pages deep in a Tikona thread and some users were getting the actual method mixed up with workarounds posted earlier in that thread. 

 

The 2750u is actually capable of both adsl and Ethernet WAN routing. However the Indian firmware only enables the adsl WAN. So one needs to use the Middle East (ME) firmware to enable the Ethernet WAN function (with the ME firmware one can use adsl, ethernet or 3g WAN). Please check the label under your router to identify the specific hardware version and apply the firmware that corresponds to it. Warning: You may brick your router if you apply the wrong firmware. Presently ME firmware is available for C1 and U1 versions. Here are the links

In the latest firmware, I'm having a problem getting my 3g dongle to work, which is why I've posted both versions. Once the firmware has been changed to the ME type, one can easily switch between versions using the software update page and one can choose which version works best for them.

Applying the firmware 

 

The firmware may not be accepted in the normal firmware update mode. Then you'll need to update it in the dlink crash recovery mode using a LAN cable (not wirelessly). Assign a static address on the PC for the ethernet interface in the 192.168.1.x series for eg 192.168.1.5

 

Switch router off, press the reset button ie insert ballpoint pen in reset hole under the router, keep holding the reset button and turn on the router. Keep holding the reset button for about 12 seconds after you power on the router. Now you'll see that the power led has turned red signifying that the router is in crash recovery mode. When you enter the address 192.168.1.1 on your PC browser, you find the upgrade firmware page. Just browse to the downloaded firmware file and flash!

 

After the new firmware has been flashed, your internet connection will not start working automatically, you will also need to set up the router correctly. Please do not apply any workarounds mentioned in other threads such as interface grouping, disabling DHCP etc


Instructions for setting up the C1 hw version router

 

Step 1: Log into your router and under Advanced setup->Layer2 interface->ETH interface create an Ethernet interface with connection mode as default. Then go to Advanced setup->WAN Service and add service for eth0/LAN4.

 

Step2: If you have an internet connection with pppoe dialing such as pacenet, Honesty etc, in the next page, choose pppoe and put in username, password and service name in the next page. Also choose to enable NAT. In the next page move eth0 from available to selected gateway interface (if it's not already in selected) and remove ppp0 (if present) from selected, in the next page do the same for DNS and finally apply/save

 

Step2 (alt): If you have a connection such as Tikona, Reliance metro, cable internet etc, in the next page choose ip over ethernet, in the next page let the setting remain at Obtain an IP address automatically, in the next page check option to enable NAT, in the next page move eth0 from available to selected gateway interface (if it's not already in selected) and remove ppp0 (if present) from selected, in the next page do the same for DNS and finally apply/save

 

Step3: Then in advanced setup - 3g connection select primary uplink as ethernet.

 

Now connect your internet cable to the LAN port 4 of the router and you should be able to connect through any device connected through wifi or any of the other LAN ports. If you have a connection with a browser login such as Reliance metro or Tikona, the login page will show up only on the first device that you connect in each session. After you have logged in on any device, all other devices will have internet connectivity without going through the login page.

 

Instructions for setting up the U1 hw version router

 

In Internet setup, set WAN access type to Ethernet and in protocol, choose dynamic ip for connection such as Tikona, Reliance metro, cable boradband etc and choose pppoe if you have a pppoe dialer based connection such as pacenet, honesty net solutions etc.

Missed Calls from Pakistan Scam

Guys,

Recently I've been getting missed calls from certain international numbers in the middle of night .. its 00:46 and Just had a missed call from +30535569999 .. previously have had missed calls from +23222288985

Dont wanna call back these numbers as I'm sure its from no one that I know .. looks like some sort of scam when Googled for these numbers

Anyone experienced such calls .. ?
