Posted: 18 Feb 2014 01:48 AM PST Feedback whether positive or negative should be passed to the appropriate person. That's what I believe in.
This is the timeline of how my installation experience has been with ACT BB.
11 Nov-2013 - I applied for a new ACT BB connection today in Kundanahalli Gate, Bangalore. I will keep you posted on the developments.
11-Nov-2013 - Cheque payment made to Sales executive, Babu Reddy, details filled on form and submitted to him.
12-Nov-2013 - At 1616 hrs, IST I receive a call from Mukund who is the ACT technician saying that the wiring has been completed to my apartment on the third floor and i would be receiving a call today at 1700 hrs, IST for username and password. Mukund confirms that I can use my internet connection from tonight. http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netgear-wgr614-54-mbps/4505-3319_7-21218238.html
In case, someone wants to have the contact details of the sales person & field engineer of ACT for Kundalahalli area, let me know. Speed test shows rocking upload and download speeds. I am on Act Force plan. 12-Nov-2013 1159, IST - First level checks indicate amazing speeds with YouTube where I can watch videos without buffering in Full HD. I will keep posting various workloads I consider to be bandwidth intensive and would update this thread.
Any downtime or disconnections will also be reported. |
Review of Airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle from Bangalore Posted: 18 Feb 2014 01:46 AM PST Hello Everybody Airtel did a exhibition in our apartment yesterday on Airtel 4G LTE. We ordered an Airtel 4G LTE USB Dongle yesterday in it. The price which was offered to us was Rs 2499 with 6 month 999 plan which offers 9GB per month. Here is the speed i got in a demo shown to us in my Laptop. ![]() I was really astonished to see such high speed in "our country" for such a price and that too via a wireless solution. I can understand that the offered bandwidth cap is very much small for such a speed, but even then the speed which Airtel offered was really amazing. The Airtel gut assured me that they would maintain 10 MBps as minimum speed in the course of time. I need one clarification from experts in this forum on a moment which made me awestruck. We can easily get rated speed inside our country when we point speedtest.net to Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai servers. But the speedtest meter hit back to 40 MBps instantly even if i point to a server which is located in USA. How can that be possible, please explain me guys. As i haven't seen more than 4MBps against a USA server in our country. But the poor Huawei USB Dongle used software compression and modulation. Because of that my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13" Laptop brought to it's knees when i try to watch a Full HD Video in Youtube. It is certainly not because of playing a Full HD Video in my Laptop created such an impact. |

Google plans to push manufacurer to update the phones with latest version. Posted: 18 Feb 2014 01:26 AM PST |
Posted: 18 Feb 2014 01:21 AM PST recently i got this spectranet connection. They did underground fiber optic cabling and started the service called spectranet FOX in my area. the plan is 12 to 16 mbps for 6 months. looking at the speeds they will provide, i got my airtel BB service discontinued.
I AM HIGHLY DISSATISFIED WITH THE CONNECTION.
1) promised speeds 12-16 mbps ,you never get the promised speeds throughout the day. even right now i am getting just 3-5 mbps. why do ISPs do this? come on! if you dont want to give constant speeds then why the hell do you have to make false promises? when they visit your home for a demonstration, such good marketing skills, overselling their product, promising this and that. but when it comes to the connection, its very poor.
2) its a daily glitch in the connection. from timings 9 pm to 12 pm i always get very low speeds like 1 mbps and very high pings touching 200 ms. i've got to play online games , but with such a pathetic ping im not able to play the games properly. and this is very irritating! and this happens everyday
3) when i had the airtel connection i used to watch alot of youtube, surf internet and the data limit was 8 gb. with these activities not even half of my data limit was used, and around 4-5 gb was left unused per month.seldom, i used to download movies because once the data limit was reached, then speed degraded to 256kpbs(reason to change spectranet ISP). using this connection, in last 1 week the 5 gb of data usage has been shown in my spectranet account(5gb data volume used) i myself have downloaded around 700mb of data THAT'S IT! i can accept even if i had watched 1080p HD videos on youtube, i could accept that i could've consumed data but still cant find what has used 5gb. if it could've been a theft over wi-fi, but whenever i am at home i connect through LAN cable and switch of the wifi service and whenever im not at home i switch off the router. then how come 5 gb of data has been consumed?! and i cant buy this fact that ONLY net surfing at watching videos on youtube would've consumed so much of data. i really find that spectranet is a cheat on this part.
if someone using the same net plans from spectranet and facing the same issues please reply and put forward some solutions to my problem, so as how to get the promised service from my ISP.

Micromax Canvas 4 - Accessing the Internal storage Posted: 17 Feb 2014 10:21 PM PST Hello
My Canvas 4 got delivered yesterday. Pretty cool phone at this price (Rs 14399) loaded with tons of features.
However, when I connect the USB to my MAC OS X 10, it does not detect the internal storage. In my HTC one V, it used to detect automatically. Is there any setting I need to turn on to access the storage?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance |
