Posted: 17 Feb 2014 02:49 AM PST For myself. Budget? Flexible. Anything below 5K would be fine. Requirement? Wireless possible? Because I still work on a desktop. It does not have Bluetooth though. If not wireless, need a long wire. 2 meters probably would be fine. To be used for watching movies, television shows mostly. Would be nice if they can remove the noise around me. The problem is quite massive. I live in the corner house which means that there is a road besides the windows and f**king dogs keep on crying and barking all night long. And of course there is enough noise during the day time because of traffic. Would prefer headphones coz do not like earphones much. Headphones with microphone would also be very nice because it would help in Hangouts. PS. I think I started a similar thread in the past but I did not bother to order. This time I think I really should get something for backup. |
Posted: 17 Feb 2014 02:04 AM PST I wonder why there is no thread for this yet!
The show is doing wonderfully well. I personally love it. It's different, no cheap comedy and pure entertainment.
TRP wise it's doing extremely well. Currently at the top in it's category (even above the likes of KBC, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, etc.) and overall 3rd. BTW you can watch the full episodes, trailers, etc. here - http://www.youtube.com/user/colorstv/search?query=comedy+nights Believe me, this show is amazing. You gotta watch this if you don't. |
Posted: 17 Feb 2014 02:04 AM PST Goodbye BSNL! I finally have an viable option and can consign my BSNL broadband connection to the garbage. To be honest the service was not too bad - I had the 8 GB @ 2Mbps plan and by and large connectivity was okay. But the speed was never up to the mark. And on the few times I had problems, their customer service was so bad I felt like ripping the phone lines out of th wall. Firstly, they only work from around 10 AM to 5 PM. So what happens if there is a problem outside thosehours and urgent work is held up? And if you do call during working hours, it takes ages for anyone to answer - the average is the phone rings for about 10 minutes. And once you get an asnwer the oeprator is least interested in hearing about the problem - she is in a rush to give you a complaint number and go off.
But what made me decide to finally give BSNL the kick was a couple of weeks ago when the connection kept going on and off every few minutes. After the usual headaches I was able to maek a complaint in the morning. When nothing was done till late afternoon I spent another half an hour tryign to call them again. When I got through and said that nothing had been done about my complaint, the operator said that there is nothing she can do and gave me the number of the local telephoen exchange and said I should phone them. That number was, of course, always busy.
Another ongoing issue with BSL is that at fixed times everyday - aroud 5 PM and 10 AM in my case, the bandwidth dropped considerably. Other sers tell me that this is because BSNL allows public sector clients to use excess bandwidth - its a government to government thing and the hell with private users.
There are other service providers who offer up to 40 GB downlaod (upload not taken into account for calculating usage) at speeds of up to 15 Mbps. There is no reason why anyone should use BSNL. I am happy I got rid of this third rate organization. |

I don't understand these bad reviews about ACT! Posted: 17 Feb 2014 01:26 AM PST Seriously people, is ACT that bad? Before going for ACT I had made up my mind to go with BSNL's EVDO as I had read all these bad reviews about ACT. I went to BSNL's CSC and they made me visit their place for continuous 4 days without any progress about the connection. After that, leaving BSNL aside, here is how ACT worked for me,

Airtel IPTV on the same line or separate Posted: 17 Feb 2014 01:08 AM PST Hello
Currently I have a 4mbps (till 15gb) plan from airtel in new delhi area. I am planning to take airtel's iptv connection. SO I talked to the area airtel guy and he said that the connection should be taken in a separate line and not in the same line as the current internet line . Because otherwise it might affect the speed of the internet. Can he be right about this ? Does anyone else have speed issues on their net because of iptv ?
Cost of installation is Rs.3500 (irrespective of whether the connection is taken in the same line or separate) monthly SD Rs.400
Please suggest whether I should take a separate connection or take the iptv connection in the current dsl line itself.
Thanks |

Posted: 17 Feb 2014 12:36 AM PST So... Largely disappointed as expected. The resolution is too low for someone like me coming from a WQXGA display. Display tech is also quite poor in comparison to what I have on my (very f**ked up) Dell. I am not used to laptop keyboards so that would take a lot of time getting used to. Would have to reorganize my Chrome toolbar to fit all the icons in so little space available on that device ![]() Anyways. It is still a laptop that comes with a 9 hour battery life. Which is what the focus is on. A backup machine to be used primarily during longer power cuts and travel. Would see if I can switch to it as my primary work machine as well. Would save a lot of power in the process. I can now get a Pogobox or a similar device for my torrent downloads and exclusively use the desktop for watching movies and TV shows! I would eventually find out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
