Hiii friends

I am using BSNL Broadband connection. I have nokia siemens wifi enabled modem. Till date, I was using internet on my laptop through the 'Bridging' connection.(For the first time, I established the connection through the cable & after that I was able to connect it through wifi). Now I have bought an android phone. So I changed the modem settings to pppoe.(I referred a video on youtube for this). Since then, I am not able to access some sites like facebook, 4shared.com & many more both on my laptop & on my smartphone as well. I can access youtube but when I click on any video, it doesn't play. I can't even use whatsapp through this connection. I am able to use only gmail & few other sites. So now I have again switched to bridging connection n using internet on my laptop which is working fine. But I can't access net on my mobile. I tried a lot to solve this problem but all in vain..so now I am fed up of this. Somebody Plz help me with this problem...

Motorola India ordered to pay Rs 60,200 for selling a defective smartphone!

Google-owned handset manufacturer Motorola has been ordered by the district consumer forum to pay a compensation of Rs 50,000 to a local resident for deficiency in service and unfair commercial practices, along with the cost of the device.
Thane District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum gave its ruling on a consumer complaint filed against the Gurgaon-based Motorola India. The judgement was given by forum president Umesh Jhavalikar and member ND Kadam.
The complaint was filed by one Ramesh Shah, a resident of Vasai town in Thane district. Shah purchased a Motorola handset (Motoming-A 1200) for Rs 10,200 from a local dealer, Sanghavi Infocom, on April 13, 2008.

How does cash back work on virtual credit card?

Hi,

 

I wish to take advantage of the 10% cash back offer that's being offered on Amazon for SBI credit cards. The thing is I don't have an SBI CC, so I want to generate a virtual CC from my SBI account.

 

Now a virtual CC expires after 48 hours, but the cash back will be credited to my card only after about 2 months. I want to know how this will work out. Will the cash back go to my SBI savings account from where I created the VCC or will it never happen since the card expired?

 

Anybody know anything about cash back after card expiry?

"Delhi is under unruly political leadership! Who are they listening to? Are they doing what they think is the only way to govern or survive?" Bedi tweeted.

Author Amish Tripathi, who created waves in Indian publishing with a $1 million book contract, has cracked it even bigger this time with an American producer purchasing the rights to The Immortals Of Meluha.
While Bollywood director Karan Johar has obtained the rights for an adaption of the popular book, the English rights of the same has gone to an undisclosed American producer.
"I have signed the deal with a US producer for the first book with an option for the subsequent books," Tripathi told PTI on sidelines of ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival here.
"I can't disclose the name as of now, it will be announced shortly," the 40-year-old author said.

Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has put up proposed technical specifications for the Aakash IV and invited comments from interested stakeholders on vendor neutrality, tablet usability and functionality until July 12, 2013.

OS - Android 4.2.1. Should be dual bootable with Ubuntu. Maximum Cold Boot Time - 35 seconds

Software - PDF Viewer, E-Book Reader, text editor, a note taking app and support for office document format. Tablet should support Android's DRM system and be able to play at least 720p videos.

Indic Language Support - Support for reading and editing capabilities in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Guajarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Oriya, Bihari, Assamese, Bishnupriya ,Manipuri, Urdu, Sanskrit, and Devanagari scripts and languages. Unicode support at OS level and virtual keyboards should be preloaded for above languages.

Nokia Corporation today announced that it has signed an agreement to enter into a transaction whereby Nokia will sell substantially all of its Devices & Services business and licence its patents to Microsoft for EUR 5.44 billion in cash, payable at closing. Nokia expects to book a gain on sale of approximately EUR 3.2 billion, and expects the transaction to be significantly accretive to earnings.

Subject to the closing of the transaction, Microsoft will acquire substantially all of Nokia's Devices & Services business, including the Mobile Phones and Smart Devices business units as well as an industry-leading design team, operations including all Nokia Devices & Services production facilities, Devices & Services-related sales and marketing activities, and related support functions. At closing, approximately 32,000 people are expected to transfer to Microsoft, including approximately 4,700 people in Finland. Nokia's CTO (Chief Technology Office) organization and patent portfolio will remain within the Nokia Group. The operations that are planned to be transferred to Microsoft generated an estimated EUR 14.9 billion, or almost 50%, of Nokia's net sales for the full year 2012. 

Additionally, Microsoft will become a strategic licensee of the HERE platform, and will separately pay Nokia for a four year license. This revenue stream is expected to substantially replace the revenue stream HERE is currently receiving from Nokia's Devices & Services business internally. If the transaction closes Microsoft is expected to become one of the top three customers of HERE.

I gave my MMX smartphone to my father as his Samsung is about to die. Now looking for a phone. While searching FK for phones this idea came to my mind.

 

I am thinking to get a basic dumb phone for 1.5k and a proper 10" tablet.

 

Does chatting clients such as WhatsApp messenger and hike messenger work on Android tablets?. I know its not officially supported. But can I install using .apk files?. Incase it works, will I get app updates?.

 

Tried my best to push father's Sammy for next few months so that I could get Ubuntu phone. But that shitty Samsung is not listening to me :-(.

Moved to D2H from TataSKY - BIG MISTAKE

I had been a subscriber of TataSKY HD since the time it was launched and decided to move to D2H because of few HD channels and exorbitant pricing of the former. Just got a brand new connection for Videocon D2H HD today
 
Upon reviewing the picture quality of Videocon D2H HD, I am thoroughly disappointed to say the least. The picture quality is HORRIBLE, the picture is hazy and washed out, colour rendition is extremely poor, images appear ghost like and there is no sharpness at all. If HD channels are of so inferior quality, needless to say that the SD ones are even worse.
 
I don't know whether this is a problem with the installation, the HD box provided or if the quality of Videocon D2H is so inferior, but I am terribly disappointed with the picture quality of D2H
 
TataSKY's PQ was light years ahead than that of D2H.
 
Anyone else who moved to D2H HD from TS HD felt the same or is it just me? Do you think the technicians can fix this or did I just flush 3280 Rs down the drain?

Frequent disconnection in Mumbai suburbs?

I have been losing connectivity everyday exactly at 2:00PM, then it comes back online only later at night.

 

When it does come back online, it is not stable, it goes off every now and then for a few mins to an hour and comes back at its own wish.

 

Customer service only seem to repeat the same thing "Sir, you are facing a signal issue, I will contact the backend department and engineer will come to you with permanent solution". Same bloody line every single day and no reponse to the complaint ticket.

 

Not to mention, I am on the 5mbps plan, and I only get 0.97mbps if Im lucky. This circus has been going on for almost a week.

 

Am I the only one being f**ked over? or is anyone else in the same boat?
