Posted: 18 Jan 2014 02:57 AM PST I found a little nice chart posted on vuze wiki page that shows a recent information about which ISP in india are bad and throttle torrent activities .
Here is the chart
I will post the link here if anyone is interested to know more about it : http://wiki.vuze.com/w/Bad_ISPs
Finally if you think you know an ISP who is not listed in the chart but is definitely throttling torrent then post it here , Also if you think an ISP in this chart no longer throttles torrent then do comment and let others know .
Main aim of this thread will be to help people in selecting the right ISP if there main usage will be related to torrents . |
Posted: 18 Jan 2014 02:52 AM PST The actual commercial launch may take a few more months.
The company will offer speeds of 4 MB/second at 500 rupees per month for 10 GB usage,
monthly plans for 5 GB data at 2 MB/sec for just 300 rupees per month.
and 8 MB/second at 900 rupees per month for 20 GB usage.
Reliance Jio will also offer an unlimited data plan with up to
15 GB usage per month at 8 MB/second and then unlimited usage at slower speeds of 256 kilobytes/second. The tariff for this plan will be 1,000 rupees per month.
The company has so far finalised three pocket-sized wi-fi devices which will provide a hot-spot to connect up to 10 devices for using the 4G data services.
Reliance Jio will offer a pocket-sized wi-fi device or dongle at just 2,000 rupees
Reliance Jio has branded the product as Jio we-fi. |

MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences Posted: 18 Jan 2014 02:46 AM PST I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.
SNR margins (SNRM)
Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.
Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here) Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates. I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.
Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

Two Modems One Connection. HELP! Posted: 18 Jan 2014 02:44 AM PST I have a connection problem. The thing is that there is a tp-link wireless modem in first floor and and an AR800V v3.0 wireless modem in ground floor both given by BSNL. Now i want only one connection to both the floors, the wifi range of first floor is weak at ground floor vice versa. So how do i go about it? Any ideas? I also have a netgear wireless router. 1.) tp-link wireless modem 2.) AR800V v3.0 (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2ewWSPXOCCWUWt6eVhRTnZ5bkE/edit?pli=1) 3.) Netgear wireless router(Netgear JNR1010 N150 Wireless Router - Netgear: Flipkart.com) NOTE: We had 2 broadband connections, now removing one of them and opting for the 1800rs 4mbps 100gb plan offered in Karnataka Circle. |
Vimeo appears to be blocked on BSNL Broadband Posted: 18 Jan 2014 02:25 AM PST And I thought I was going insane.
Need confirmation. Plan to file a complaint through their website. For the lulz. |

Ass h*les are collecting data for google Posted: 18 Jan 2014 12:32 AM PST Some ass h*les came to my house they said they are collecting data for putting online at google (I assume google maps) I denied that I don't want to put my mobile number and other personal info online. They were collecting GPS data ,address , contact number, name and were from some 'set net' agency .
I told him I don't want give my info and I can add myplace myself if I ever want to.
He said (very rudely) "Agar aapke pass bo technology hoti toh kya baat thi phir hume ye karne ki jarurat hi nahi padti"
so these days people carrying a stupid certificate doing survey at 8:30 PM who think I need some super technology to add my place to google maps wants me to believe they are appointed by google to collect data.
But the way he was arguing with me like I do not know anything about internet really |
Reliance Broadband - West Mambalam and Ashok Nagar Posted: 17 Jan 2014 09:44 PM PST Recently I went through the Reliance web site and found that they've truly unlimited high-speed plans. I'm very interested in obtaining that connection, but in my Area Reliance doesn't seem having any coverage. Two times, the guy has come and said that there are no lines near my area and hence can't give me a connection. |

BSNL Wired Login problem with laptop but desk top is working Posted: 17 Jan 2014 08:02 PM PST Hi,
BSNL wired Broad Band connection. With same userid and password, using desktop I am able to connect to the net. But using laptop and same userid and password is not working. It used to work before with laptop also.
1st time I got a pop up window with redial timer, I clicked cancel and later I tried to connect again by clicking the connect icon. Then the login page came up as usual, with out me doing any thing the cursor went into the userid slot. By the time I clicked connect it wiped out the userid. Since then I could not connect using laptop. But the same userid is working with desktop.
I tried flushing DNS, resetting the modem. Unplugging the wires. Scanned with anti virus. It is giving 691 error code. But the same userid and password is working with desktop.
Any advise please. Thanks. |

TATASKY VS VIDEOCON - Help Me... Posted: 17 Jan 2014 06:44 PM PST HELP HELP HELP !!!!! We are shifting from our existing home to our new home which is a housing society having Videocon Common Antenna Service. Right now I have TataSky (Standard) which may be not usable. I came to know that I will be offered price of new STB as well as channel packages at low cost. Pl. help me to take a right decision in terms of cost & picture quality on below issues. 1) How is Videocon DTH quality compare to TATA sky 2) Is there any price difference between channel packages / number of channels 3) If I switch to Videocon, then what should I do with my existing TataSky 4) Is there any other issues (good or bad) with Common Antenna Service? (Pl. note that I am not a hardcore TV addict and I used to watch only 1-2 hrs a day which contains mainly some Marathi channels / News / English Movies / Music Channels / Nat-Discovery channels) I will be thankful if I get better reply. |
