Metronet (Bell Teleservices) in Bangalore - 10 Mbps for Rs. 1699 Posted: 11 Dec 2013 02:51 AM PST I finally found an ISP (a local cable provider) with 10 Mbps UL Plans, well atleast with 100gb FUP & 1Mbps after for Rs. 1699. They call themselves Maruti Network & operate on 'Metronet' (Belltele.in) network, could not find much info on their website: www.metrotelecom.in but the local cable guy from Maruti network gave me this flyer:
Is anyone else from Bangalore using this, need some reviews & more details on their service / other plans etc. I already paid Rs. 1500 for installation & should get the connection by Tuesday
EDIT on 12th July 2013 :
*My overall review after using this connection for over 2 weeks : http://broadbandforum.co/topic/66171-metronet-bell-teleservices-in-bangalore-10-mbps-for-rs-1699/page-2#entry686391 |

MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences Posted: 11 Dec 2013 02:36 AM PST I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.
SNR margins (SNRM)
Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.
Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here) Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates. I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.
Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

Thunder 699, Pune: Frequently getting logged out, cannot log back in immediately Posted: 11 Dec 2013 02:26 AM PST Hi,
Last month, I shifted from BSNL to Reliance after about 6 years. Opted for the Thunder 699 plan. While I'm downloading torrents it works fine, even at 10 hours at a stretch with very stable speeds of 220-250 KBps.
But when the connection is idle (no downloading/uploading of torrents), I get logged out randomly. Sometimes after 10 min, sometimes an hour. Not just that, even when I am browsing, or streaming a YouTube video, I get logged out at times. While that's not a problem, I cannot log back in immediately. The Reliance login page just doesn't open. I have tried the following:
- entering the IP address of the login page. -trying different browsers -trying 4 different "auto-login" software
Nothing works. I have to restart my router and my computer and wait for random amounts of time.
What could be the issue?
Location: Pune Router: D Link 2750u OS: Win XP
Your suggestions/help would be really appreciated. |
ISPs in and around Bapujinagar, Bangalore Posted: 11 Dec 2013 02:23 AM PST Hello everyone.
I've searched top to bottom for a decent ISP for my area (Bapujinagar/Byatrayanpura, Mysore Road, Bangalore) but so far I'm drawing a blank. Just to let you all know, I've tried
ACT - No Service in my area Tikona - No Service SpectraNet - No Service BBNL - No Service Railwire - No Service DVoiS - No Service Airtel - No service
I am using BSNL for the past 6 years and the service has always been terrible. But lately its gottten so horrible that i simply dont want to put up with its bullshit anymore. The connection doesnt stay up for more than 15 mins, the speed is terrible and the jackasses at the customer care or at their corporate offices don't know anything as to what the problem is.
I don't mind even if the service is a bit expsive, but what I'm looking for is a decent ISP that has very little connection outages/disconnects and a decent speed.
Does anyone know of any such service ? Getting really desperate now |

Funny Videos, Images and Jokes Posted: 11 Dec 2013 12:36 AM PST MS staff There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out. The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away." __________________________________________________________ Is Windows a virus?
