Posted: 04 Nov 2013 02:07 AM PST Massa ties the knot ![]() On Friday, Felipe Massa and his girlfriend Rafaela Bassi got married in Sao Paulo. The pair made their wedding vows in the Nossa Senora do Brasil church with Jean Todt, Stefano Domenicali, Mario Almondo, Aldo Costa, Luca Baldisserri and Luca Colajanni attending the ceremony. Of course Nicolas Todt, the manager of Massa, could not be missed during the wedding. F1technical wants to congratulate Felipe and Rafaela with their marriage! F1Technical.net: Massa ties the knot (Powered by TotalF1.com) Former Champ: Schu could return to racing Saturday 1st December 2007 ![]() Former F1 Champion Alan Jones reckons Michael Schumacher may be considering a comeback after an impressive test at Barcelona two week's ago. Although Schumacher retired from F1 at the end of the 2006 season, the German returned to action with Ferrari at the Spanish track in the first of the winter tests. The seven-time World Champion proved to be the man to beat as he dominated the timesheets during his two days of testing. And although Schumacher has stated many times that his test does not mean he will be making a competitive comeback, Jones reckons the thought has to have crossed Schumi's mind. "After nearly a year out of the saddle, I can image him thinking, 'Maybe I'd like to have another go.' It must be just like coming back from an extended Christmas break," Jones told Autosport. "He used to take a couple of months off at the end of each season, so another few months won't make a big difference. Two or three years might have done. "It's a win-win situation: Ferrari gains from his expertise and he enjoys it. And you can never rule out a comeback - he might be thinking, 'I'm really enjoying this!' Money won't be his motivation, it will be to prove a point. "Niki Lauda was out for several seasons and came back and won the title. Michael could do the same." Schumacher misses Massa's wedding day Dec.3 (GMM) A representative for Michael Schumacher has played down speculation that he may have fallen out with his former Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa. In the presence of many of his Ferrari colleagues, 26-year-old married his fiancee Rafaela Bassi, who is 27, in Sao Paulo last Friday, according to reports from Brazil and Italy. Among the 800 guests were team bosses Jean Todt and Stefano Domenicali, as well as Mario Almondo, Aldo Costa and Luca Baldisserri -- but not Schumacher, his 2006 teammate. Massa's countryman Rubens Barrichello also attended, reports said. Days earlier, the former seven time world champion, Schumacher, won a karting event hosted by Massa in the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis. The German newspaper Bild am Sonntag said Schumacher had celebrated Massa's impending marriage with his former teammate and friend in the days prior. A representative for Schumacher said: "Michael is currently in the United States for a family vacation." |

Fernando Alonso News and Updates Posted: 04 Nov 2013 02:02 AM PST Fernando Alonso topped the timesheets on his return to Renault today at Jerez lapping the Spanish circuit a tenth clear of countryman Pedro de la Rosa. It was an impressive return to the team for Alonso as he put in 70 laps with a best time of 1:19.503s. It was a busy day for the McLaren Mercedes team with de la Rosa putting in 111 laps in his MP4-23 while Kovalainen sixth fastest, completed 130 laps in the new machine. Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa were third and fifth fastest respectively for Ferrari with Nico Rosberg running well in his FW29 with the fourth fastest time. Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais proved closely matched for Toro Rosso Ferrari with the seventh and eighth fastest times while Mark Webber was ninth best in the Red Bull Renault. Kazuke Nakajima rounded out the top ten in his Williams Toyota ahead of Timo Glock in the leading Toyota TF108 and Giancarlo Fisichella in the Force India Ferrari. Kamui Kobayashi brought up the bottom of the timesheets in the second Toyota while Super Aguri Honda did not run after problems encountered yesterday. Renault continued its preparations for 2008 today with Fernando Alonso taking over driving responsibilities from Nelson Piquet. It was an important day as it was Alonso's first appearance in Renault colours since being confirmed as a 2008 race driver in December. Arriving at the Jerez circuit yesterday evening, the Spaniard spoke to the engineers to understand how the first day of the programme had gone, and to prepare for his two days work with the team. His first day behind the wheel gave the Spaniard the opportunity to drive a car in accordance with the 2008 electronic regulations, and most significantly without traction control. It was also a good opportunity to reacclimatise to the team with which he has worked for six years in the past. At the end of the session, having covered 70 laps, the overall result was an encouraging first day as Alonso topped the timesheet with a best lap of 1:19.503s. Fernando Alonso "The result of my first day in the car is encouraging. I could not wait to drive again, but at the same time I was a bit tentative. I quickly settled back in to the team and everything went well. We made good progress throughout the day, but there is a lot still to do. I had to adapt at first to the car and get used to driving the car without traction control, but I am convinced that that soon I will be used to this and will not remember what is was like to drive with traction control." |

Is TriB combo UL data-1899 plan really unlimited Posted: 04 Nov 2013 01:48 AM PST I just subscibed for MTNL's TriB combo UL data-1899 plan, and using it since last week. Which gives 2MBPS speed.
Alough in site it is mentioned it is unlimited. (http://mtnldelhi.in/broadband/triband_tariff_unlimited1.htm)
But when I looged in, and checked the usage section, it shows: Usage Limit Rs.1,000,000,000.00 Unbilled Usage Rs.5,570.33 Total Free(MB) 9.9999999E7
So, I'm not so sure if it unlimited & I'll get on 1899 + Service Tax at month end bill. OR this unbilled amount of Rs. 5570/-.
Please suggest
Thank You |

MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences Posted: 03 Nov 2013 11:24 PM PST I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.
SNR margins (SNRM)
Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.
Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here) Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates. I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.
Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

Posted: 03 Nov 2013 08:17 PM PST Friends, instead of starting new thread for each news, I thought of opening a separate thread for F1 news. So, here I start... Standardising Formula One machinery Five-year FIA cost-culling plan revealed 15/10/08 A British newspaper has revealed the FIA's five-year plan to radically slash costs, with the body's president arguing Formula One has become 'unsustainable'. The centrepiece of the package, to be discussed with the F1 teams' alliance FOTA next week in Geneva, is the standardisation of expensive car parts that add little to the show. The London publication The Times claims that Bernie Ecclestone, the Chief Executive of F1's commercial rights holder, backs the Max Mosley-devised plan to 'dramatically' cut costs. Among the measures is the introduction of a controversial standard engine design for 2010, additional energy recovery systems and fuel-efficient engines for 2013, and many 'common parts' for the chassis. "We are completely open to new ideas," Mosley, albeit insisting that engines must be made available to small teams at a low cost, said in a letter to the team bosses. An FIA spokesman said he will not comment prior to the meeting. F1 : Standardising Formula One machinery - FIA - F1-Live.com |

The general cricket discussion thread Posted: 03 Nov 2013 11:07 AM PST Why this thread? So often, we have some random thought or point to make/discuss , and I personally sometimes skip it as I feel it is not worthy of a new thread & feel its unfair to hijack an existing thread... Would recommend creating new thread for any big news & as usual we have threads for specific series/tournaments.. This is for something general random posts related to cricket...Kind of the Cricket Offtopic thread... Will start with one post ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Misbah & Taibu seem to competing with each other for the prize of who can bat more defensively.... ---------- After beating NZ in the 3rd ODI with a draing chase... Now Zimbabwe are on verge on possibly upsetting them in the Only Test... 116 needed in 34 Overs (Incl mandatory Overs) with the new ball just taken |

How to connect Beam cable Broadband to a wireless router Posted: 03 Nov 2013 10:37 AM PST Hi All, This is my first post and I would like to congratulate all the member's and the Administrators for making this forum so interesting. I recently shifted from BSNL broadband to Beam Internet connection. Earlier I used to connect BSNL to D Link DSL-G604T model ADSL wireless router . The internet was shared simultaneously to Desktop through ethernet and Laptop through wireless from the the router. My query is in two parts. Objective is to share the Beam Internet in a similar fashion as above through wireless to laptop and ethernet to desktop. At present I am able to connect only one by plugging in directly the RJ45 of the Beam cable to the ethernet port of PC or Laptop. Q1) Can I share beam cable internet using my existing ADSL wireless router? Q2) If not what is the additional hardware I need to purchase? Is there a way to connect the beam cable connection to a regular wireless router and distribute? Alternatively will installing two LAN cards on my desktop and bridging them solve the problem? The Beam broad band connection procedure: Connect the RJ45 jack to the ethernet port of the computer. Open the broser. A dynamic IP gets assigned to the computer and a login screen pops up where we enter the uesr name and password. Query: Can I do the same by connecting the cable to a wireless router. I will buy one if it is confirmed. The Beam technical support does not inspire confidence. Please help. Thanks Jagdish |

Airtel HD+ - Query on using existing hard drive partition Posted: 03 Nov 2013 10:13 AM PST Hello Techie folks,
Yesterday, I upgraded to Airtel HD+, which allows us to connect to an external usb storage and record programs.
I have a query that I am hoping to get a resolution on this forum.
I have a 1 TB USB external hard drive which is partioned into 4 drives of roughly 250gb each. I plan to use one partition for HD+ STB. However, as soon as I plug in my hard drive to STB and switch it ON, it asks me to 1) Format drive 2) Go back.
I cannot format the drive, because it carries useful data and run beyond 600 gigs, which I cannot back-up somewhere else, even temporararily. I can't just lose the data (believe me, they are not movies).
I just wish that the STB should prompt me with the drive name, once I select it to format. But, I cannot try this, because, if it doesn't prompts me and formats the entire 1 TB drive, I'll be in soup.
So, if any of you have tried to connect a partitioned hard drive to HD+ STB, could you please share your experience?
Is there any way out?
Thanks in advance.
