Mallya delighted with Fisichella's performance
Force India looks set to step up its relationship with Ferrari for 2009. Not only will the Silverstone based team continue to use a customer engine built by the famous Italian marque next year, Force India is reportedly planning to run a KERS energy-recovery system that is also developed by Maranello-based Ferrari.

"We will run a Ferrari engine and the electronics of Magneti Marelli," team co-owner Vijay Mallya, apparently referring to the introduction next year of a system that will store and re-use energy captured under braking, is quoted as saying by the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport.

Ferrari confirmed recently that its engine and electronics departments have been merged ahead of the major regulation change for 2009.

Force India, however, will continue to build its own gearbox, and the outfit's first 'quick shift' transmission will be introduced at the Hungarian Grand Prix in August.

Mallya said he was delighted in Bahrain, where Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella finished ahead of the highly rated McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton.

"I could not hide my laughter,:hysterical:" the Indian billionaire said. "In Bahrain, our team made one more step forwards."

ACT "Useless Connectivity @ HIGH COST"

Posted: 17 Oct 2013 12:42 AM PDT

Hi,

I have got a new Act BB connection on 22/08/2013.

Acc No :412315

From the day of taking connection, internet connectivity had so many downtimes!!! i am not sure how ACT claims that it provides seemless connectivity at great speeds!!!
It should be "Useless Connectivity @ HIGH COST"

for past 12 days from OCT 2 ,my connection has not been working fine ,ACT has done nothing but just raise complaints and close it!!!

I wonder how the speed gets better when i call cust care and raise a complaint!!! ACT is a big fraud ,they commit big deals before taking connection and once u pay for 6 months ,ur money will be locked and ACT will make u dance to their tunes!! Even if connection is down for a week they wont bother as its a pre-paid connection and act got the money!!!

If u raise ur voice ,raise complaints they would just close it without addressing it!!
There is no provision to pay on-line for ACT BB....payment gateway doesn't work!!! ACT has made it mandatory to pay for every pick up cheque!! My question is when there is no provision to pay online y shud customers pay for cheque pick up???

ACT bb is a nuisance in the city trying its best to fool ppl!!! beware of this fraud

The Tomorrow People

Posted: 17 Oct 2013 12:40 AM PDT

are the next evolutionary leap of mankind, a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities — the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. Up until a year ago, Stephen was a "normal" teenager — until he began hearing voices and teleporting in his sleep, never knowing where he might wake up. Now, Stephen's issues have gone far beyond the usual teenage angst, and he is beginning to question his sanity. In desperation, Stephen decides to listen to one of the voices in his head, and it leads him to his first encounter with the Tomorrow People — John, Cara and Russell — a genetically advanced race with the abilities of telekinesis, teleportation and telepathic communication.

The Tomorrow People are being hunted down by a paramilitary group of scientists known as Ultra. Led by Dr. Jedikiah Price, Ultra sees the Tomorrow People as a very real existential threat from a rival species, and the outcast group has been forced to hide out in an abandoned subway station just beneath the surface of the human world. Trading in secrets, Jedikiah offers Stephen the chance for a normal life with his family and best friend, Astrid, if he will help in the struggle to isolate and eradicate the Tomorrow People. On the other hand, Cara, John and Russell offer Stephen a different type of family and a home where he truly belongs. Unwilling to turn his back on humanity or the world of the Tomorrow People, Stephen sets out on his own path — a journey that could take him into the shadowy past to uncover the truth about his father's mysterious disappearance, or into an unknown future with THE TOMORROW PEOPLE.

Tikona Broadband User Experiences

Posted: 17 Oct 2013 12:01 AM PDT

Thought I would start another thread for people who have actually used this service to describe their experience.

They have started advertising quite heavily in Bombay and their plans seem pretty decent. Their 600kbps UL plan would be excellent for me.

I really like the way they have bill limits for their limited plans as well. That shows they understand consumer concerns about enormous bills and have designed their plans to allay them.

So how good is their service? Any down time? How quickly do they respond to complaints? Really any information from people who have used Tikona would be appreciated.

How to replace existing router

Posted: 16 Oct 2013 11:53 PM PDT

Hi,
I have a belkin n150 router configured with my reliance wired broadband connection. This is a router+modem hence is directly connected to the wire from reliance and I do not use their modem. This router is assigned an ip of 192.168.2.1 now I want to replace this router with a belkin n600 db router. I have connected this new router to the binatone dt815 modem provided by reliance but I am unable to configure this new router. Following are the settings I have tried
Changed the ip of the new router to 192.168.3.1
Selected the connection type as dynamic during the setup
Cloned the MAC address

But even after all these settings I am unable to connect to the net via this router. The Ssid of the new router is showing in the available wireless connection list and this is even showing as connected but I am not able to log onto the internet

Please help me out

MTNL Broadband VDSL2 User Experiences

Posted: 16 Oct 2013 11:30 PM PDT

I wanted to start a new experience thread simply to discuss MTNL VDSL.

Some things to consider before/after taking a new VDSL connection

SNR margins (SNRM)
Below 9 dB : Poor experience with lots of HEC and CRC errors. Line will disconnect frequently.
9 - 11 dB : Ok but not ideal. Disconnections will be there if some unexpected variance is introduced by rains, humidity in the wire.
12 - 16 dB : Ideal and realistic value. Expect almost no disconnections as the line has more wiggle room for tolerating variances.
17 dB and up : God Mode. Lucky few get this on VDSL synced at 30 mbps and up. So far I have seen various stats and no one has reported this SNRM (That is because VDSL sync rates are always higher)

Higher you sync rate, lower the SNRM will be. Lower the SNRM, lower the connection reliability. Lower reliability means frequent disconnections. Hence ISP's have a setting in DSLAM to artificially increase SNRM value for a particular phone line. Hence you sync at lower rate and line automagically becomes stable.

Attenuation may not be that important after all. It reduces sync speeds over a distance but is not an indicator of connection reliability. (You can roughly calculate your line length from it. Do it here)

Apply for VDSL connection only if you are within half km. Otherwise you will get ADSL like sync rates.

I will update this entry with some of our findings. Since VDSL is somewhat new to India, this thread can help some early adopters.

Currently the speeds are decent for fast servers. But single streams are slow due to a bottleneck somewhere.

MTNL 8 Mbps Plans

Spectranet FOX

Posted: 16 Oct 2013 10:56 PM PDT

recently i got this spectranet connection. They did underground fiber optic cabling and started the service called spectranet FOX in my area. the plan is 12 to 16 mbps for 6 months. looking at the speeds they will provide, i got my airtel BB service discontinued.

I AM HIGHLY DISSATISFIED WITH THE CONNECTION.

1) promised speeds 12-16 mbps ,you never get the promised speeds throughout the day. even right now i am getting just 3-5 mbps.

why do ISPs do this? come on! if you dont want to give constant speeds then why the hell do you have to make false promises?

when they visit your home for a demonstration, such good marketing skills, overselling their product, promising this and that.

but when it comes to the connection, its very poor.

2) its a daily glitch in the connection. from timings 9 pm to 12 pm i always get very low speeds like 1 mbps and very high pings touching 200 ms. i've got to play online games , but with such a pathetic ping im not able to play the games properly. and this is very irritating!

and this happens everyday

3) when i had the airtel connection i used to watch alot of youtube, surf internet and the data limit was 8 gb. with these activities not even half of my data limit was used, and around 4-5 gb was left unused per month.seldom, i used to download movies because once the data limit was reached, then speed degraded to 256kpbs(reason to change spectranet ISP). using this connection, in last 1 week the 5 gb of data usage has been shown in my spectranet account(5gb data volume used)

i myself have downloaded around 700mb of data THAT'S IT! i can accept even if i had watched 1080p HD videos on youtube, i could accept that i could've consumed data but still cant find what has used 5gb. if it could've been a theft over wi-fi, but whenever i am at home i connect through LAN cable and switch of the wifi service and whenever im not at home i switch off the router. then how come 5 gb of data has been consumed?! and i cant buy this fact that ONLY net surfing at watching videos on youtube would've consumed so much of data. i really find that spectranet is a cheat on this part.

if someone using the same net plans from spectranet and facing the same issues please reply and put forward some solutions to my problem, so as how to get the promised service from my ISP.

Spectranet in Noida Sector 41?

Posted: 16 Oct 2013 10:48 PM PDT

Hey Guys,

Before i start, this is my first post ever :nonchalance: . I am actually a foreign student studying in Noida and I have been struggling with Internet Providers here. When I saw unlimited plans without fup (which i heard ever for the first time), i was over the moon since i am struggling right now with 512kbps plan. At first, i called Reliance to know about their plan "Thunder 1099" and they said it's not available in my region which brought me down. After that, I looked on reviews about Tikona which everybody hates so i dropped the idea as well. Today, I heard about Spectranet and i saw their 2 Mbps plan but when i called the customer service, they told me to look for a local operator which I have no clue what the person is or does. Can someone please help me? I am looking for a wired broadband plan without fup (atleast 2Mbps) in my region or if someone has a contact of a local operator that can set up a connection for me.

Thanks in advance and Have a great day ahead :tranquillity:
