Unique Identification Authority of India (Aadhaar)

Posted: 13 Oct 2013 02:27 AM PDT

the govts plans to have a biometric national id cards for everyone by 2010.In usa the real id act is facing fierce resistance as 20 states have signed legislation opposition this as well in UK as groups like defyid and no2id.THis national id card makes india a police state, mass surveillance society and blurs the difference btw nazi germany and india.
the supreme court has interpreted that we have the right to privacy which the national id card violates. Why isnt anyone doing to stop this.I contacted times of india ,cnn ibn, ndtv but got no reply?.

we already have voter id card, passport, driver license, ration card, pan card(similar to social security card in us.).EVen is usa the ss card is not to be used as a id card.why do we need a chip card?the only thing that i can think is abut control and monitoring us.

once everyone has this card the govt can track your every move and switch your card if you resist or dissent.

There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out.

The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away."

Is Windows a virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
They replicate quickly Okay, Windows does that

Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so okay, Windows does that

Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk Okay, Windows does that, too

Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems Sigh... Windows does that, too

Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware Yup, that's with Windows, too

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature

So, Windows is *not* a virus

Modem Router that works both on BSNL & ACT Broadband

Posted: 12 Oct 2013 08:09 PM PDT

HI,

I'm currently using BSNL BB with BSNL modem, since couple of months connection is getting worse day by day.

I'm planning to move to ACT BB in couple of months, prior to that I would like to change the modem which works both on BSNL and ACT BB.

Let me know whether "TP-LINK TD-W8968 300 Mbps Wireless N USB ADSL2+ Modem Router" works on both? or suggest me any other.

Thank you.

Upcoming ISP in Pune

Posted: 12 Oct 2013 06:56 PM PDT

In my early posts i had indicated that there are certain pilot tests going on in Pune for upcoming ISP which will offer speeds at par with other fastest ISP in India. I was lucky enough to grab some speedtest results of the pilot project.

As of now I have no clue as under what name the service is going to be launched. But i will try to find out more or the news will be available shortly because as per my information they are planning to launch within 1-2 months.

So here are some proposed features

20Gbps Backbone over Ring Topology. (Confirmed)

80% Backbone is underground fiber. (Confirmed)

Connectivity via TTML, Airtel, Vodafone. (Confirmed)

Full IPv4 Dynamic/Static Addresses. (Confirmed)

P2P Caching with a Max On-Net Bandwidth of 200~1Gbps per User. (Unconfirmed)

DC++ Hub. (Unconfirmed)

Uncapped Speed within On-Net Zone. (Confirmed)

On-Net Gaming Servers. (Unconfirmed)

Usage Based Payment Policy i.e No Monthly Bindings (Unconfirmed)

Lifetime Accounts.(Unconfirmed)

And here is the speedtest results at endpoint running on PPPoE.

In case of any questions, i would be glad to answer to best of my knowledge.

Scammers on eBay India

Posted: 12 Oct 2013 06:00 PM PDT

I was looking to buy a tablet and saw a Nexus 7 with Wi-Fi and 3G 2013 version at a great price and sorta impulse bought the item. Bad decision. The item was not shipped for 5 days, the scamsters website was blocked by my antivirus and the guy insisted the tab had a sim slot when infact the Cellular version is yet to be launched.

No real damages done financially as the refund has been initiated by the system, apart from losing a week and a half, I guess.

MORAL : Stay away from new sellers, I know some or what the heck most may be legit, but its not worth it. And if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

Does Airtel still cheat?

Posted: 12 Oct 2013 12:55 PM PDT

Hey people! I need opinions from those of you who use Airtel, preferably pre-paid. I was an Airtel user once upon a time, and they used to be big time cheats and frauds. For example, they automatically deducted the currency, and send messages like 'Thank you for subscribing to Bollywood Pack. Rs 30 has been deducted'. This used to happen on a regular basis, even though I never subscribed to any of those nonsensical packs. Also, if I left my number unused for a few days (no calls or messages), then some currency would have been automatically deducted. I just want to know, do these issues still exist for Airtel customers? In short, does Airtel still cheat in such cheap ways?

P.S. I want to know this because I'm disgusted with Docomo's service and network, so planning to port again (third time). Its been Aritel -> Vodafone ->Docomo -> ?
