  I am doing a story on slow broadband speeds in India. It would be really nice if I could get an insight into the problem faced by broadband consumers probably through a brief interview/interaction with you. I would also like to know if consumers are getting any relief from Trai.

Alright. Post your feedback in concise points. I personally have no clue about TRAI helping out broadband customers in India. From what I read here, nodal officers and that pgportal something?

The show is doing wonderfully well. I personally love it. It's different, no cheap comedy and pure entertainment.

 

TRP wise it's doing extremely well. Currently at the top in it's category (even above the likes of KBC, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, etc.) and overall 3rd.

Parle Agro, better know for its popular mango drink Frooti, on Tuesday said it was re-entering the Rs. 15,000-crore Indian cola market after two decades with the launch Cafe Cuba - a coffee-flavoured carbonated drink.The company had sold its carbonated soft drinks brands Thums Up, Limca, Gold Spot and Citra, to Coca-Cola in 1993 and had also signed a non-compete agreement for 10 years.
The company plans to roll out Cafe Cuba by January or February next year. It will be priced at Rs. 20 fora 250 ml can and Rs. 15 for 250 ml in a PET bottle. The product will also be available in 500 ml and 1litre.

Tata Docomo Photon Plus Worst Service Ever

I registered a request with Photon+ number 9235015747 on 23rd july 2013 with migration request number 372502369 at Tata Docomo Store Civil Lines, Allahabad I was told that migration will take place in 4 days.

I called Customer Care on 27th July then I got the answer that it will be done by 30th July, after calling customer care on 30th July another request was raised with request number 374530971.

I got another call on 1st August 2013 where another request was raised with reference number 373957703, and I was told that this will be resolved by 5th aug 2013.

 

Now on 5th August 2013 a bill for this connection is raised and I got a sms on 6th Aug 2013 that request number 373957703 has exceeded the closure timelines and it will be resolved within 2 working days but still there is no resolution. Please help with further steps to be taken from my end. Today 9th Aug 2013 I got a call from tata docomo office number +913366337920 saying that I need to submit my document again to get my postpaid connection converted to prepaid and then got a sms on my registered mobile number 8005320231 that my complaint# 373957703 is resolved but my connection is still in postpaid mode, really a terrible and pathetic experience from Docomo, will never suggest anyone to but any docomo product.

Finally, the connection was never migrated from Postpaid to Prepaid and they have closed the request without informing me that is the end consumer, so finally after facing a hell lot of harassment from Docomo I decided to pull off from the connection on 20th August 2013 for ever.

Raised a new complaint request for closing the account permanently. The request number is 376450121.

BSNL Broadband: Combo ULD 800 Plan Review

Hey friends,

 

I installed BSNL BB with Combo ULD 800.

 

AS per plan speed should be max. 1mbps upto 6gb. But i am getting 1.6mbps speed as per speed test (measured on speedtest.net). How it can be possible. Can any 1 answer??????????????????????????????????????????????

 

BSNL has taken 2 month to install Landline but bb installation is very quick (2 days after application).

 

Till now i am satisfied. I am in Vadodara, Gujarat region.

 

You ppl also can share your experience for this plan and BSNL service. 

Static IP improves service drastically

From past few days my service was just pathetic. i am having a 2mbps unlimited plan on which download speed was 2mbps but the upload speed was around 400kbps. There were issues of packet drop and high pings. So a guy from tikona suggested me that i should take the static IP service and there will be huge change in your service. And guess what he was correct.

 

Benifits

1. No login page ever.

2. Connect as many PC with your Wifi router.

3. download speed of 3.5 mbps

4. upload speed of 2mbps

5. super low pings.

6. no packet drop.

 

Drawbacks

1. you will have to shell out Rs1500 a year.

Frequent Disconnection / ADSL blinking Issue on MTNL Broadband

Hi,

I am a user of 849NU plan of MTNL Triband service since August based out of Navi Mumbai.

All of August, i was very happy to have a lovely connection and good speeds, with a pretty good tariff.
But now since the past 15 days I am suffering from very intermittent net connection.
Although I am connected to the internet, sometimes the webpages take ages to open, and never open, while at other times it opens instantly. Also downloading has the same pattern, sometimes I get very good speeds of upto 200 Kbps, while other times there is no download. Although all download sites show good Triband Speed, but it is the intermittent connection that is the problem.
This problem has crept up in the last 15 odd days, and I have tried everything but no change has been noticed.

Has anyone else faced a similar problem, and if yes, whats the work around. The people at MTNL classify this as a slow connection problem, but that is exactly not the issue, as I do get good speeds intermittently.

Somebody please help me.

I registered this complaint today morning around 10:00am. Ticket no. 0001250323

Whole day of waiting and no resolution!

Calls to CS are answered by polite young people who keep saying their colleagues are on the job.

Last time it took ACT 3full days to restore my connection.

Please look into this ASAP.

Have written on 18th May to your Tikona Customer care (that do not exist) and your nodal officer that I am not getting services from Tikona. have to call your team multiple time to restore my connection, never got the promised speed and your technical executive never be prompt to reach the place and solve the issue on my multiple request you guys disconnected my connection on 9 Aug 12. when i haven't used any of your services in this period how can you invoice me and that also some 3000 Rs. Your executive came to collect the device and other device and still not got the acknowledgement for the same. When i take the connection i have paid money advance with the assurance from your agent this will be paid back to me when I disconnect my connection instead of paying mu money back to me you are asking me to pay for the services which i haven't used.
Now I am getting multiple threatening calls from Tikona Team and some legal department that you will destroy my CIBIL record and latest that you will also get my Votor ID card, other financial document if I not paid the monies.
But still I am ready to pay so I had a word with your Legal Person and got settled on the amount of Rs. 1000 to pay and settle the account. I wrote reply on your email to come and give in written that account is settled and the documents that you will not write to CIBIL rating and also withdrawing of court case. but I haven't received any reply from your team.
I am still ready to pay the settlement amount. Please give me the requested documents and collect the money and close the account

But still have one question is this the way to treat the customer? not reply on emails and queries and charge the customer as per your discretion?

You know how it goes, you buy a phone on eBay, and it comes with a developer / pre-release version of a major mobile OS. Well, if these images are to be believed, that's at least what happened to one bargain-hunting Windows Phone fan. The screenshots -- said to be taken from a Nokia 920 -- show Windows Phone 8, but with a few new tweaks and features. Most notable, will likely be the notifications, but other tidbits include App list ordering based on frequency of use, week view in the calendar and the option to kill apps from the multitask screen. The phone reports a build number of: 12084.WPMAIN(wpbldlab).20130509-1407 leading some to infer that this version could have been compiled sometime in May. A tease of something to come? As always, hard to tell, but expect the price of second-hand 920s to bump up a little, for the next few weeks at least.

Price difference between ADSL & Cable

Being a Triband user from the past 10yrs or so, I am sort of contended with it's service. There are rarely any down times & even if there is an issue, the technicians usually rectify it pretty quick.

My issue though is based on the price difference that I've observed between MTNL plans & the corresponding cable line plans.

I use the DSL 999 Unlimited which gives 1MB/s at Rs.1340 per month (that's after adding the various taxes) while my friends using

cable line pay Rs.600-700 for the same! That's not all, they get equal upload speeds & their downloads speeds vary from their planned 

speed to sometimes above it as well. Examples would be 24 Online, YOU, SSV, D-VoiS & the most famous 5Net.

 

So can anyone explain why am I paying nearly double for the same plans? The MTNL people don't even have to lay cables for connection

and the modem is my own as well. Yet the exorbitant cost is pissing me off.

Nokia Corporation today announced that it has signed an agreement to enter into a transaction whereby Nokia will sell substantially all of its Devices & Services business and licence its patents to Microsoft for EUR 5.44 billion in cash, payable at closing. Nokia expects to book a gain on sale of approximately EUR 3.2 billion, and expects the transaction to be significantly accretive to earnings.

Subject to the closing of the transaction, Microsoft will acquire substantially all of Nokia's Devices & Services business, including the Mobile Phones and Smart Devices business units as well as an industry-leading design team, operations including all Nokia Devices & Services production facilities, Devices & Services-related sales and marketing activities, and related support functions. At closing, approximately 32,000 people are expected to transfer to Microsoft, including approximately 4,700 people in Finland. Nokia's CTO (Chief Technology Office) organization and patent portfolio will remain within the Nokia Group. The operations that are planned to be transferred to Microsoft generated an estimated EUR 14.9 billion, or almost 50%, of Nokia's net sales for the full year 2012. 

Additionally, Microsoft will become a strategic licensee of the HERE platform, and will separately pay Nokia for a four year license. This revenue stream is expected to substantially replace the revenue stream HERE is currently receiving from Nokia's Devices & Services business internally. If the transaction closes Microsoft is expected to become one of the top three customers of HERE.

the govts plans to have a biometric national id cards for everyone by 2010.In usa the real id act is facing fierce resistance as 20 states have signed legislation opposition this as well in UK as groups like defyid and no2id.THis national id card makes india a police state,mass surveillance society and blurs the difference btw nazi germany and india.
the supreme court has interpreted that we have the right to privacy which the national id card violates.Why isnt anyone doing to stop this.I contacted times of india ,cnn ibn,ndtv but got no reply?.


we already have voter id card,passport,driver license,ration card,pan card(similar to social security card in us.).EVen is usa the ss card is not to be used as a id card.why do we need a chip card?the only thing that i can think is abut control and monitoring us.

I went to apply for a new additional BB line at BSNL which has night unlimited yesterday. I downgraded my plan from ULD 1425 - 4Mbps FUP 20Gb to ULD 950 FUB 8Gb. My plan was already FUPed this month and speed was at 512kbps. My NAS was chugging along downloading stuff that I had put in queue. When I came home last night, realized my plan had been changed during the day to the lower one and my FUP was reset. All my downloads were done and it is still going strong some 20Gbs+ later :)

I held back applying for the new plan as there was no free install offer and they wanted 1K install fee. So thought would wait for Diwali offer or something...

Speed getting reduced before FUP limit reached

I got ACT connection a month ago. I am on the ACT BB Premium plan (999). Till now i have consumed about 36 GB download and 12 GB upload limit, but speed has been reduced from 10Mbps to 512 kbps.
