DDR2 Laptop ram stopped working

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 02:33 AM PDT

Yesterday i got wet in rain and my laptop too got some moisture. Now today after drying up laptop properly with hair dryer and other stuff, powered on the laptop. It booted fine but after 10 mins i got a BSOD and it crashed. After that i did not get any display. After much of spending time to fix it, reached on a conclusion that one of the 2GB ram had gone bad. So i am currently using only 2GB.

Please suggest if i can fix the ram or where can i purchase the ram in good price.

Google Android Device Manager

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 02:26 AM PDT

http://officialandroid.blogspot.in/2013/08/find-your-lost-phone-with-android.html

Have you ever lost your phone in between the couch cushions or forgot it in a restaurant? Or maybe searching for your phone before you rush out the door is part of your morning routine? Later this month, the new Android Device Manager can help you out. It's one of a few simple features you can use to keep your device—and the data you store inside—safe and secure.

Locate and ring your misplaced device
If you ended up dropping your phone between those couch cushions, Android Device Manager lets you quickly ring your phone at maximum volume so you can find it, even it's been silenced. And in the event that your phone or tablet is out of earshot (say, at that restaurant you left it at last night), you can locate it on a map in real time.

Protecting your personal information and data
While losing your phone can be stressful, Android Device Manager can help you keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands. If your phone can't be recovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device.

Availability and getting started
This service will be available later this month on devices running Android 2.2 or above; to use it, you also will need to be signed into your Google Account. There will also be an Android app to allow you to easily find and manage your devices. Stay tuned!

Airtel 4G LTE speeds are now restricted at 10mbps in all circles

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 02:15 AM PDT

I am from Pune. Had two demos in last two days (25 and 26 June 2013). Must admit the sales guys were very cooperative. Scanned my entire apartment, only 2 bars in gallery and a window but still was getting 10 down 5 up. Airtel guys said the range is a big problem, you have to be in 300 to 400 meter periphery from the tower. So we tried the speed tests on terrace too.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. On terrace (of our 8 floor building), the single was full. I was expecting significant speed improvements.

But to my astonishment they were still stuck on 10 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. No improvements on download speeds, even after single improvement from 2 bars to full 5 bars? Occasionally we hit 12 Mbps for a brief second, but that's it.

We tried downloads from different sites, same story.

System reboots, dongle reboots, same story.

It was a ZTE MF880 with MiMo support.

I can recall a demo some time early this year, where a Huawei E392 was cranking 33 down and 11 up in inorbit mall. Was very impressed back then.

So what's going on here? Even on full bars, I am not getting any speed improvements past 10Mbps down and 10Mbps up.

Is it a device issue? ZTE MF880 supports only 67 down / 17 up, while Huawei E392 is 100 down / 50 up.

OR Airtel is throttling the bandwidth?

Anyone having a different experience?

We've already seen a hint of such a device at the FCC, but now it seems that we may be looking at the hybrid phone / camera in all its eyebrow-raising glory. Thanks to SamMobile and TechTastic, we're treated to purported renders and "in the wild" shots of the Galaxy S 4 Zoom, which line up with expectations that it'll be based on the Galaxy S 4 Mini.

Idea 2G data pack has stopped working in Roaming (in Delhi)

Posted: 08 Aug 2013 12:45 AM PDT

I have a Idea connection (UP west) & I use this number only for internetin my Tablet. Yesterday, I came to Delhi & my data pack was almost finished. Then Idea started to deduct from main balance for internet.
It was fine due to no data pack available.
Today, I have recharged my number for 1 GB data pack. But after recharging the pack, my internet is not working. (main balance is also finished because I dont use this number for voice call.).
But It is surprising that after recharging the data pack, Internet is not working.
Previously, I used tata dacomo & I moved to Idea due to the same issue (non availability of spectrum in Delhi). & forum moderators advised me to move to another operator. But I am facing the same problem in Idea too.

Now I am not able to understand what should I do?
Could you please provide me any suggestion?

Thanks,

Anuj Rathi

MS staff

There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10m visibility when his instruments went out. So he began circling around looking for landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous. Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around, rolls down the window and shouts to the guy "Hey! Where am I?" To this, the solitary office worker replies "You're in a plane." The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out.

The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it. "Simple" replies the pilot, "I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft's support office and from there the airport is just a while away."

Is Windows a virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
They replicate quickly Okay, Windows does that

Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so okay, Windows does that

Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk Okay, Windows does that, too

Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems Sigh... Windows does that, too

Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware Yup, that's with Windows, too

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature

So, Windows is *not* a virus

Static IP improves service drastically

Posted: 07 Aug 2013 11:36 PM PDT

From past few days my service was just pathetic. i am having a 2mbps unlimited plan on which download speed was 2mbps but the upload speed was around 400kbps. There were issues of packet drop and high pings. So a guy from tikona suggested me that i should take the static IP service and there will be huge change in your service. And guess what he was correct.

Benifits

1. No login page ever.

2. Connect as many PC with your Wifi router.

3. download speed of 3.5 mbps

4. upload speed of 2mbps

5. super low pings.

6. no packet drop.

Drawbacks

1. you will have to shell out Rs1500 a year.

Making my life hell, MTNL you should be sued!

Posted: 07 Aug 2013 09:45 PM PDT

Hey Everyone,

So I've been trying to get this problem fixed for six months now!

Ever since January 2013 my line gets disconnected every 3-8 minutes.

I've called the helpline and everything, they claim to have done whatever they can apart from changing the lines since supposedly the lineman is 'Not Responding', yes that's right since the last six months the line man just decided he does not want to do his work.

Is there any, I mean ANY alternative to this nightmare!

Due to this issue I've not been able to take a single call (international on my lync) from home,

and surfing the net is so incredibly frustrating.

Seriously considering switching to Airtel, because for some cryptic reason there is NO, absolutely NO other ISP willing to provide a connection in my area (Juhu, J.V.P.D.).

Spearhead was willing to but they wanted 5k connection charge and a 1 year commitment, good luck with that.

My Stats:

ADSL Firmware Version : FwVer:3.5.10.0_A_TC3084 HwVer:T14.F7_1.0
Line State: Showtime
Modulation: ADSL2 PLUS
Annex Mode: ANNEX_A

                                     Downstream      Upstream
SNR Margin :                  44.5                     8.0 db
Line Attenuation:            20.0                   15.3 db
Data Rate:                      2048                 1021 kbps

I don't hope to gain anything from posting this,
besides just venting my frustration.

Ubuntu Edge

Posted: 07 Aug 2013 09:21 PM PDT

http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/22/ubuntu-edge-smartphone/

The Ubuntu Edge is a very ambitious smartphone that'll be capable of running a full-fledged Ubuntu desktop operating system alongside Android. While specs are currently tentative, the company is aiming to outfit the Edge with a quad-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Meanwhile, the phone itself will sport a 4.5-inch, 1,280 x 720 display that's constructed of sapphire crystal glass, an 8MP rear / 2MP front-facing camera and stereo speakers. As for connectivity, Canonical's eyeing LTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC, along with MHL support.

It is not the most exciting of shows but it does well nonetheless. I like the primary character because of his stupid smile and the way he handle things while narrating it to audience how he does it.
