And thats what even I am asking, you can claim to be the 2nd most recognised/valued brand. But is anyone actually buying your stuff? And if we see in that sense Apple being at a lower position is kind of confusing, because going by THAT yardstick, they should have been above RIM.

RIM gets patent to block sneaky camera use by employees at work

RIM Patents “Inconspicuous” Photo Snaps. Makes the Platform Even More Secured for BYOD Program | BBin - India 's Best BlackBerry Community

Quote:

RIM has been the most secured platform for businesses since Day 1 & today the company is awarded with a patent that will block sneaky camera use by employees at work. According to this new patent, "the camera restriction prevents a user from taking a picture of a subject if the device has not been steadily focused on the subject in question for a predetermined period of time." The duration setup is maintained by IT who also have access to the device's 'Work' balanced data & accessibility to remove/modify them. This is one solid idea gathered by RIM to worry-free enterprise with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program

Is AIRCEL downscaling or shutting down Vizag operations? any updates ?

Posted: 04 Jan 2013 12:10 AM PST

Aircel switched off their GSM towers for some unknown reason from 31-12-2012 in VIZAG. it is 4 days now, and still no network. i have sizable balance in the mobile and things aren't clear what Aircel is upto .

1) The company has all its 2g licences intact and also hold 3g license for Andhra Pradesh. why should they be doing this to VIZAG ???

2) at Aircel customer care 198, u know each time a new person answers the call and promises action, but situation doesn't improve. Similar seems to be the case even via email. no concrete action till date.

3) there is news of MTS taking over AIRCEL operations (which is still in the pipeline), but even if it is true, that shouldn't affect the existing customers. neither Aircel nor MTS seem to be owning responsibility for the current state of affairs of Aircel network in Vizag.

4) MTS seems to be having all the money & bargaining, but no brains !! (this was proved in their CDMA business.) maybe, Aircel mgt is preparing to offer AIRCEL (the company) without customers to MTS. or is it a deal reached between the two, to be buying Aircel without customers at the price MTS is prepared to pay to Aircel ?? MTS should settle the matter with Aircel sooner than later. else MTS would only be buying Aircel without customers.

5) Aircel is "denying service" which is a serious issue, much worse than deficiency of service. They are doing this without adequate information to customers of any shutdown of operations. could this be to frustrate the customers to go for MNP & in the process forfeit customer balances.?

What about the fate of the existing Aircel subscribers ? TRAI should act immediately !!

without any information on these developments in either public domain or by way of SMS intimation to subscribers to port-out to other operators, customers feel betrayed & see it as illegal.

How do i know that the downstream rate is capped at 2048 by BSNL? Is there a way to check it?

Anyway, i am planning to call the SDE and ask the to verify the situation.

Thanks in advance.

Eventually after so many calls to different officers and lineman, i got the downstream rate changed. It is pegged at 3999 now. Decent i guess.

However, there is no improvement in speeds. When ever i do a speedtest using the BSNL speedtest tool, the results vary between 1.3 Mbps to a maximum of 3.4 Mbps.

I am posting the screen shots of my modem page. Folks please have a look and let me know your thoughts.

[Tried inserting the images, it allows only from URL and the same is not getting displayed. Hence the links to the screen shots. ]

Another issue is that i am using a beetel modem which i got while i had an Airtel connection and that is connected to Belkin router. Wi-fi signals are not that great all around the house. Wanted to know if this is hampering the speeds.

Please let me know your thoughts. Then i will go ahead and decide, if i need to persist with this connection. The problem is that options are few for me. The other connections available are a 5 Mbps connection from City Online and a very costly connection from Dvois. Have you people heard about these ISPs?
