Ravi Shastri reviews Life of Pi

The New Year has apparently inspired Ravi Shastri enough to make him want to diversify and channel his considerable talents into other outlets. To that end, the commentator, a self-proclaimed film buff, recently tried his hand at writing reviews.

Watching Life of Pi, one gets a feeling. Specifically, one gets a feeling that Ang Lee really pulled out all the stops in making this one. The CG imagery is as good as it gets, almost as good as the 'waiting for a decision' third-umpire graphics on the Chinnaswamy Stadium scoreboard.
As the story unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that for Pi, the main character in the film, something has got to give. The fat lady starts to sing as soon as he realises that he's trapped on a boat with a tiger, and she doesn't let up until the film is over. Talk about putting the cat among the pigeons! I mean, the director is really mixing it up here. So, will Pi avoid a final nail in the coffin or will he find the strength to think outside the box and overcome this acid test? I don't want to give too much away but I'll just say it goes down to the wire.

PS: This is going to be touch and go

Tendulkar forced to consider retirement after failed apocalypse

Sources close to Sachin Tendulkar have revealed that the batsman had delayed his retirement because he wanted to see if the end of the world as prophesied by the Mayan calendar would come to pass after all. "Sachin had high hopes for the apocalypse," said a source. "He figured that if the world did end, he wouldn't have to retire."

As things transpired, however, the world didn't end, forcing Tendulkar to consider his place in the game yet again. The disappointed legend duly announced his retirement from ODIs on December 23, two days after the scheduled apocalypse.

Videocon D2H HD DTH: Viswaroopam Pemiere in D2H.Is it Really UnRecordable?

Yup.. I guess Kamal (or his team) is thinking in the same manner. A number of people who end up buying a pirated movie for say upto Rs.100 in an attempt to view it ASAP without the hassle of "tickets, pop corn, petrol and parking charges.", may not mind paying that much if its presented with a better clarity on DTH. His perspective is that the theatre crowd will go to the theatre. Its mainly targetted at people who can a) afford it b) dont like going to theatres and hence end up buying pirated stuff and/or watch it when it comes later on DTH or tv channel.

How easy is it to get Vodafone micro sim for iPhone ?

Posted: 31 Dec 2012 02:33 AM PST

I'll mention my story here. I've a Vodafone Maharashtra circle prepaid number, used by my wife. The SIM was purchased about 6 years ago and used on Sony Ericsson phone. The phone reported SIM problem several times, so wanted a new micro SIM from Vodafone for iPhone.

I checked at Vodafone gallery at Thane, they don't have SIMs for any circle other than Mumbai. I was told to go and check at either Kalyan or Ulhasnagar. I tweeted to Vodafone about this. Those idiots told me to visit a nearby store. I reiterated Maharashtra circle, then no response.

So, I went to Kalyan (store is right outside the station), they don't stock Maharastra circle SIMs. So, I went to Ulhasnagar, the store is quite far from station. All rickshaws in Ulhasnagar are shared and I had to use multiple rickshaws to reach the store.

After the usual round of nonsense at the store (it is toooooo long a story to write here), I was told that micro SIM was out of stock. Finally, I took a regular SIM, Rs. 25, went to a shop nearby and got it cut. I spent several hundred Rupees, an entire afternoon and hell a lot of pain just for this SIM.

When Maharashtra and Mumbai circles are merged for operational purposes, whey the hell can't Vodafone stock the SIM cards? Also, roaming charges are applied for outgoing calls, disgusting.

I took an airtel, Maharashtra circle, postpaid micro SIM from Thane store; during Jan 2012.

Tony Greig has passed away

Tony Grieg was the most heard "international" voice in the commentary box.

Any moment you recollect, his voice automatically comes to mind in the background. Can't visualize any cricket moment without him.

Free GPS Navigation Apps for Apple iPhone 5

Since you have formatted your computer and all your itunes and device specific info has been lost, when you try to sync/backup your ios device to the computer, it will treat it as a new device and will delete all current data and apps and set it up as a new device.

There is a simple solution for getting back allbthe apps that you bought via multiple itunes logins/stores. For this you will need to download all your purchased apps to itunes on your computer. Login to each individual account and then dowload all the apps (or just the ones you want) purchased via that account. Log out of your itunes account. Repeat the steps with all other itunes accounts. Then sync apps to your device via itunes by manuall selecting the apps you want. You can sync any apps you have in itunes on your pc irrespective of the itunes account that you are logged into either on your pc or iPhone. Only caveat is that you need to have the physical ipa file on in your itunes folder and it should have been downloaded on your pc.

You can also do this directly on your iOS device following the process mentioned in the post above this. However, I find that to be a tedious process as you have to select and download apps one by one. I find it tedious as I have 100-150 apps on my device. You can pick whichever way works for you best.

I also have Indian and US itunes accounts and have used this process each time I reset my iOS devices.
