Firefox 10 to be released tomorrow Posted: 01 Feb 2012 02:50 AM PST Interesting. It is mentioned in the release notes that Most add-ons are now compatible with new versions of Firefox by default So, does it mean that addon files compatibility would mostly be updated by default by the firefox team if they are compatible in the future. One thing is for sure. There are hardly any changes it means and the basic structure is the same. So, they know that the addons would be compatible by default and the newer versions are just hogwash with minimal changes. For example, the first point in the release notes is mentioned The forward button is now hidden until you navigate back Now, what difference does the forward button make and how is that is that a significant change. :? There is no significant changes and it is just a hogwash of an update. I am a massive Firefox fan but these release cycles is really putting me off. If they make the addon compatibility by default as they mention in the release cycle then probably it would still be ok with frequent releases. But I really hope that the addons are compatible from now on and these worthless release cycle does not keep on breaking addons in the future. |

BSNL Broadband Increasing Speeds on their plans? Posted: 01 Feb 2012 02:31 AM PST Interesting. It seems they are playing safe and mentioning only a few circles but increasing all over India. I am not sure why they are doing so as the new speeds and FUPs would have made them attract a huge number of new customers and converts from other networks especially in places except Hyderabad, Bangalore etc. Hope they announce PAN India and confirm it officially soon as that would also help them in attracting a large number of newer customers. Their higher plans especially 1700 and above are better than Airtel and Reliance too and so, they might have got a huge number of converts amongst high end customers if they announced it publicly. Or perhaps they will wait till the end of February and test out everything to be sure before making the PAN India announcement or the FUP and speed increase in all circles throughout India. To give an idea of a few top ISPs compared with BSNL especially on the 1700 and above plans: BSNL vs Airtel -- Price, Speed and FUP --> BSNL > Airtel Customer Service --> BSNL ~= Airtel (Some say Airtel CS is better but then many complain of false bills and sudden plan changes in Airtel but that hardly happens with BSNL) BSNL vs Reliance --- Price, Speed and FUP --> BSNL >> Reliance Customer Service --> BSNL >>>> Reliance BSNL vs Beam etc. --- Price, Speed and FUP --> BSNL <<< Beam and other such ISPs Customer Service --> BSNL >>>>>>>>>> Beam (at least from what I have read in the forums) BSNL vs MTNL --- Price, Speed -- BSNL > MTNL , FUP --BSNL < MTNL Customer Service --> BSNL ~= MTNL BSNL vs Tata Indicom --- Price, Speed and FUP --> BSNL >>>>>> Tata Indicom Customer Service ---> BSNL > Tata Indicom So, it seems that BSNL has suddenly become the leader and perhaps one of the best broadband overall in India. It is even more appreciable if they can provide the same speeds and FUPs even in rural areas etc. as none of the other ISPs normally go to rural areas where revenues and penetration are not that great. Hope they announce the PAN India implementation at least in urban areas. It seems to have been implemented PAN India as per the reviews of most members here on IBF but it seems they are waiting sometime to make the announcement. The circles they are mentioning already has bigger players and so, they would hardly benefit much there. Only at PAN India level especially in cities and towns can they gain a substantial amount of new customers and converts due to the new plans. |
