Nokia Lumia phones to get free 2GB 3G data with Vodafone, Airtel Posted: 04 Jan 2012 02:52 AM PST Nokia Lumia 710 is priced at Rs 20,000 while the Lumia 800 sells for Rs 30,000. Vodafone has tied-up with Nokia to offer free 3G data worth 2 GB of for four months to the buyers of Nokia Lumia 710 and 800 phones. The same offer is also available for Airtel users. The move is aimed at bumping the sale of Windows Phone 7.5 operating system based phones which were launched recently. Nokia Lumia 710 is priced at Rs 20,000 while the Lumia 800 sells for Rs 30,000. People who are interested in the offer can walk into Vodafone stores, Airtel Store or Nokia Stores to buy these phones. Both new and old users of Vodafone and Airtel can avail the offer. The offer is nothing new as most operators have such offers on different handsets like Tata Docomo which has such an offer on BlackBerry Curve, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S and others. Vodafone also offers discounts on 3G data for HTC Explorer users where they get double the 3G data for what they pay. There are several phones from Samsung, Nokia and BlackBerry that are available with free data of 1 GB to 3 GB which you can buy from Vodafone stores. Similarly Airtel offers similar benefits for the buyers of couple of Beetel models like the Magiq tablet (2GB data for 2 months), Nokia's N8 etc. Similarly Reliance Communication and Aircel also have similar offers. The move might not be unique but it will definitely ensure better visibility of the phones on the store fronts which might also translate into more sales. Source:: The Mobile Indian. |

3G roaming pacts declared illegal...!!!!!!!!! Posted: 04 Jan 2012 02:47 AM PST TDSAT has no power to hear 3G plea: DoT Quote: NEW DELHI: The telecom ministry questioned the jurisdiction of tribunal TDSAT on entertaining the petitions of five telecom operators, including Bharti Airtel and Vodafone, challenging the government's directive to stop 3G roaming agreements. The development came even as the tribunal began hearing operators' petition challenging the government's recent move to declare 3G roaming pacts between mobile operators illegal. For operators, the tribunal extended relief till January 9, the next date of hearing, implying that the roaming deals can continue till then. Telecom department's legal counsel additional solicitor general AS Chandiok on Tuesday cited a recent judgement of the Supreme Court that mentions that the tribunal could not entertain petitions on altering terms of telecoms licence. DoT said it would file separate application in this regard within the day after the tribunal asked it to do so. Operators will have to reply to this application by Friday, January 9, which has been kept as the next date of hearing for the case. Government-owned BSNL requested the tribunal to make it a party to the case since it would be affected by the outcome of the case. |
