Mechanical Engineering Advice - Where?

If I need some software re-written or a new scripts done, there are plenty of sites like Odesk, VWorker, Scriptlance etc.

But where would I go if I wanted some advice or even drawings for special purpose machinery (book packaging)

Do such sites exist?

image processing in java and matlab.-- important

hello, m working over java and matlab- image processing since my project is related to this. i hv 2 use image processing in matlab. bt i dnt understand y cant v do image processing in java if the functions r avail??? i hv come across paper dat says... image proc is easy in matlab rather in java.. whereas java supports multithreading dats nt possible in matlab... is it true???? plz clarify my doubt. i dnt hv d clue whts d advntg over d other...

Please let me know what you think about pursuing post graduate diploma in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System from npti after btech in ece. i dont have job still(june 2011 passout).

Any suggestion regarding course or career in this field are invited.Also let me know what should i do otherwise.

I'm quite amused by this video that shows robots that measure just few millimeters and are capable of jumping few centimeters high. These robots have been developed by Army Research Laboratory and the University of Maryland. Check out the video and tell me what do you think about these cool bots -

Blood Vessels recognition in retinal image

Hi, i'm new in this forum and i'd ask you some help; i'm trying to solve a problem in my university thesis but i need some ideas; i'm working with retinal images and i'm trying to detect the vessels in a automatic way with Matlab software; i tried to improve the image working in the contrast and brightness but now i have some problems about the accurate recognition of the single vessels. I tried to use K-means and fuzzy c-means algorithm but the results aren't so good.
Someone can give me help please??
