Posted: 15 Mar 2011 02:52 AM PDT Hello everyone, I am really feeling lucky because the fivenet provider(swastik) here in chembur got ready to expand his network by about a km. He told me that he'll setup the whole thing in a couple of days. Also he has sent me a letter and told me to get it signed by the secretary. But the thing is that I dont think he would sign it. I dont know what to do now. Is it really necessary? and is the provider is going to charge me for all the wiring and stuff. I am ready to pay but just want to make sure.

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 02:24 AM PDT What were you sleepy when you typed this message at 12:40AM asking about 3G launch date? What have other forum members been discussing about 3G speeds in other threads within the Vodafone 3G sub topic? :D If you mean by 'launch' as in a press conference, showing off 3G streaming video, ribbon cutting with a cleavage showing celebrity as an official launch, well no one cares for that! The ads suffice to create awareness about their product launch. Anyway, 3G has already been launched, except their 3G exclusive data plans which should be sometime in March end or April (April 10? since the free trials seems to be up to that date as per SMS for Mumbai customers...dont know about other customers in other circles) first week. You can experience 3G speeds in your current GPRS or EDGE data plans provided you have a 3G handset and Vodafone does have 3G license for Kolkata circle. If not check with your friends or dial 116 from your Voda number.

Posted: 15 Mar 2011 01:20 AM PDT Hi fellas, How to take a Wimax connection in Kochi? Do I need an existing BSNL landline connection? What will be the total costs? Someone said it will be around 5k for device and another 5k as installation charges..So Is it that much costly? :O Also which device should I buy? Outdoor CPE (5000) , Indoor CPE (4200) or USB CPE (2800) :confuse:

Posted: 14 Mar 2011 09:24 AM PDT This hub will not work as the IP address given by TIKONA changes daily. This thing I got to know later. So, if we want to use LAN, someone will have to buy fix IP from TIKONA. Enquire about the same on TIKONA helpline. The same person, will have to create hub and let others know his IP, so that others can install DC++ and join him. You can mail me for related inquiries.

| High Latency During Evening Hours Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:26 AM PDT Friends, It seems that the latency of my connection shoots up to between 250 - 400ms when pinging a Mumbai server from Kolkata. It happens especially in the evening hours. As a result of this, the speed reduces from the alloted 4mbps to a meagre 250 - 360 kbps. The latency remains normal during the day time and also late night, but is badly screwed up during the evening. Also noticing something strange:- No matter what server I am trying to make a trace route of, the first hop is always timing out. | Wireless Data Transfer in Mountains Posted: 14 Mar 2011 08:18 AM PDT Hello, (I'm not sure if this is appropriate here or not... Admin/Mods please feel free to move/delete this post if you think so) Is there any way to transfer data (mostly video footage) from high altitude (6000 - 7000 M+) to lower base camp site (around 8 - 10 km away) during mountaineering expedition ? There'll be no mobile coverage & apparently internet through satellite phone is much slower & very expensive. Is it possible to transfer data at high speed through some hand-held device like two way radio etc. ? Device should work at sub zero temperatures & at that altitude & at the same time should be small enough to carry in rucksack & can be charged via solar panel etc. Any pointers regarding this will be highly appreciated. Thanks ! |

Port forwarding Linksys WRT54G2 connected to Dlink 502T Posted: 14 Mar 2011 04:48 AM PDT Hi there friends, I need to port forward my Linksys WRT54G2 wireless-G router for port no 52064 for uTorrent. I have a MTNL 1 Mbps Unlimited connection. Earlier I used to directly connect my laptop to Dsl 502T to the ethernet port and download torrents. I had port forwarded on my DSL-502T with the ip 192.168.1.2 for port no 52064 in lan clients and virtual server. Now that I want to download the torrent through wifi I need to port forward the same on my Linksys WRT54G2. I had used Socrates guide to configure my wifi router. The default gateway is 10.10.0.1 and the ip address that I have set as static ip on my laptop is 10.10.0.3. I went into the settings of wifi router in Applications and gaming and made the settings into it for port forward but still when I'm trying to run the test on uTorrent to check whether the port is forwarded it is giving me the result as "The port is not forwarded. Are u still able to download". When I connect my laptop directly to the Dsl 502T router that time there is no problem. Its during when using through wifi it's giving problem. Guys pls help me. Thanks in advance.:urock:
