| BSNL Broadband "selfcare.wdc.bsnl.co.in" is a disaster in my opinion Posted: 13 Feb 2011 02:39 AM PST Yes,most of the things you have mentioned are true. No online bill payment on Selfcare portal yet. No online 3g data recharge/top up yet. No Broadband usage data info yet. Personally,my BSNL Broadband speed has not been upgraded despite change of plan. According to today's local newspaper BSNL has lost 20,000 customers and gained 3000in Punjab after Mobile Number Portability.Net loss is 17,000 since Mobile Number Portability.Even if this is regarding mobile connections only, similar story must be true about landline also. BSNL must pull up it's socks otherwise more customers will say bye bye to BSNL-mobile as well landline. |

| Bill issue not resolved even after 4 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:38 PM PST I have paid a bill online through bill desk(Visa bill pay). But the amount is not credited to my account even after the disconnection date:confuse::confuse::confuse::confuse:, so I paid that bill manually. After that I received a mail from them informing that the bill is paid and the bill amount is debited to my VISA card. That is two payments are made to the same bill I have been contacting many officers(including nodal officers) for this issue, they are always repeating that the amount will be adjusted in the next bill; after that I received three bills, no amount is adjusted up till now:O:O:O:O:O What can i do? |

| Height of Stupidity- Airtel 3G plans/Tariffs Posted: 12 Feb 2011 09:56 PM PST Height of Stupidity- Airtel 3G plans/Tariffs just wanted to post review abt Airtel 3G plans /Tariffs Plan-1 3G Volume pack Charges - 15p/20KB so 1GB= 7500RS approx Plan -2 Standard(almost all plans got this charge rate after free usage) charges - 30p/20KB so 1GB= 15000RS approx plan -3 Flexi shield (650RS 1.25GB free) Charges (post1.25GB) - 100KB @ 1ps so 1GB= 100RS why on earh that one plan charge 15000rs for 1GB and another costs 7500RS for 1GB while some other plan got just 100RS for 1GB you may say it got bill shield value of 2000rs after that speed will be reduced in plan flexi shield, but u can just disconnect the 3G net by sending sms and reconnect the 3g internet and subscribe to same flexi plan and get same speed with same 100kb/1ps rate Regards Raj1402 |
| Posted: 12 Feb 2011 09:53 PM PST 1. Browsing problem is common to all. Nothing to do with the card. Myself also posting this reply through LL BBand. Something to be collectively done by the forum members to draw the attention of BSNL. 2. I am not clear about this detail. 3. For UMG1831, through online, buyers will definitely have warranty with bill. 4. As every body is crying in the forums, UMG 1831 with FW 11.826.03.01.420 is stable and 11.831.05.01.420 is unstable. |

India is not growing as it seems... last decade, many foreign investment came in..thats why we SEE..lots of money.....but now foreign investors are seeking profits ....this profit will come out of our pockets...it goes in form of inflation.... salary rise for common men is hardly 5% a year. | BEWARE: Vodafone playing DIRTY Tricks while PORT-OUT their subscribers.... Posted: 12 Feb 2011 12:12 PM PST Mobile Number Portability ClearingHouse treating "NO RESPONSE" from operator means REJECTION of PORT-OUT request. Vodafone successfully utilized this & troubling its Premium(Higher Bill Pay) Subscribers. When you start calling Vodafone Customer Care to ask for PORT-OUT Status, simply they tell you(After putting you on HOLD for 2-3 mins) that "Sorry Sir, we didn't received request from any operator. So its better to contact new operator where you submitted your PORT-IN request". Like this they(Vodafone) simply waste 7days time & when Mobile Number Portability ClearingHouse didn't receive any response from existing operator, they REJECT your Mobile Number Portability request without giving any REASON or sometimes with S.H.I.T.T.Y Reason. Regarding this, I already mailed to Mobile Number Portability Cell & waiting for their reply(I don't think they gonna reply).:wall: |

| Posted: 12 Feb 2011 10:42 AM PST Hi Use of 3g modem on Linux Fedora when u insert USB modem then look for changes in dmesg use command dmesg | tail -n50 - usb 1-2.3: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4 - usb 1-2.3: New USB device found, idVendor=1c9e, idProduct=6061 - usb 1-2.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=4 - usb 1-2.3: Product: USB MMC Storage - usb 1-2.3: Manufacturer: Qualcomm, Incorporated - usb 1-2.3: SerialNumber: 000000000002 - Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... - scsi2 : usb-storage 1-2.3:1.0 - usbcore: registered new interface driver usb-storage - USB Mass Storage support registered. - usb 1-2.3: USB disconnect, address 4 - usb 1-2.3: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5 - usb 1-2.3: New USB device found, idVendor=1c9e, idProduct=6061 - usb 1-2.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=4 - usb 1-2.3: Manufacturer: 3G USB Modem - usb 1-2.3: SerialNumber: 000000000002 - scsi3 : usb-storage 1-2.3:1.3 - scsi 3:0:0:0: CD-ROM HSDPA CDROM 2.31 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 - scsi 3:0:0:1: Direct-Access HSDPA MMC Storage 2.31 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 - sr1: scsi-1 drive - sr 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr1 - sr 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 5 - sd 3:0:0:1: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0 - sd 3:0:0:1: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk If above are the output messages then this USB modem working as USB Storage drive. Look for loaded modules using command lsmod - usb_storage 34392 0 above messages should be output. it means your need to remove this module use below command rmmod usb_storage Now you have to look for your Product and Vendor ID use below command lsusb Now you have to use software utility called usb_modswitch, you have to configure file usb_modeswitch.conf it in /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf. Make a copy of this file, store with another name at same location /etc/. Remove all entries except for your USB, here I will explain If I plugged my USB and when I do lsusb and below are my entries .... Bus 001 Device 007: ID 1c9e:6061 .... here is my config file /etc/bsnl_usb_modeswitch.conf, keep below entries only remove all other unnecessary information, ################################################## ###### # MobiData MBD-200HU # # Contributor: Stefan Olejnik DefaultVendor= 0x1c9e DefaultProduct= 0x6061 TargetVendor= 0x1c9e TargetProduct= 0x6061 # only for reference and 0.x versions # MessageEndpoint=0x01 MessageContent="55534243123456788000000080000606f5 0402527000000000000000000000" ################################################## ###### above messages should be output. But at DefaultVendor, TargetVendor you should enter your USB modem Vendor ID using lsusb command, and at DefaultProduct, TargetProduct you should enter your USB modem Product ID. Then use command usb_modeswitch -c /etc/bsnl_usb_modeswitch.conf - Looking for target devices ... - No devices in target mode or class found - Looking for default devices ... - Found default devices (1) - Accessing device 005 on bus 001 ... - Using endpoints 0x02 (out) and 0x82 (in) - Not a storage device, skipping SCSI inquiry - Error: could not get description string "product" - Device description data (identification) - ------------------------- - Manufacturer: 3G USB Modem - Product: - Serial No.: 000000000002 - ------------------------- - Looking for active driver ... - No driver found. Either detached before or never attached - Setting up communication with interface 0 ... - Trying to send the message to endpoint 0x02 ... - OK, message successfully sent - -> Run lsusb to note any changes. Bye. above messages should be output. Now you have to load correct driver for your USB modem, use below command modprobe -v option - insmod /lib/modules/2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686.PAE/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/usbserial.ko - insmod /lib/modules/2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686.PAE/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/usb_wwan.ko - insmod /lib/modules/2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686.PAE/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/option.ko above messages should be output. Now activate this drivers for your USB modem use command echo "1c9e 6061" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id Now look for dmesg logs using command dmesg | tail -n10 - USB Serial support registered for GSM modem (1-port) - usbcore: registered new interface driver option - option: v0.7.2:USB Driver for GSM modems - option 1-2.3:1.0: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected - usb 1-2.3: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB0 - option 1-2.3:1.1: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected - usb 1-2.3: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB1 - option 1-2.3:1.2: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected - usb 1-2.3: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB2 - option 1-2.3:1.3: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected - usb 1-2.3: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB3 above messages should be output. Now you are on track of connecting now you have to use utility called wvdial, but before that u have to configure /etc/wvdial.conf. If there are any entries allready, then make a copy of this file, here is my configuration file (/etc/wvdial.conf). I am using BSNL 3G network in Pune [Dialer hsdpa] Phone = *99# Username = null Password = null Stupid Mode = 1 Dial Command = ATDT Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0 Baud = 115200 Init2 = ATZ Init3 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 ISDN = 0 Auto Reconnect = off Dial Attempts = 1 Modem Type = Analog Modem obtain APN = 0 use APN = 1 APN = bsnlnet IP modal = 1 obtain PDP = 1 PAP modal = 1 obtain DNS = 1 In APN phase(APN = bsnlnet) you have to use your service provider APN name. There is 1 more file called /etc/ppp/options which you have to use below is my /etc/ppp/options file /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 debug noauth noipdefault defaultroute usepeerdns crtscts lock kdebug 7 -detach lcp-echo-failure 4 lcp-echo-interval 30 lcp-max-configure 10 lcp-max-failure 10 ipcp-max-failure 10 ipcp-max-configure 10 -ccp -vj refuse-chap refuse-mschap refuse-mschap-v2 refuse-eap #name #show-password Now your all configuration is complete use below command now wvdial hsdpa --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.61 --> Cannot get information for serial port. --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 OK --> Modem initialized. --> Sending: ATDT*99# --> Waiting for carrier. ATDT*99# CONNECT 7200000 --> Carrier detected. Press Ctrl-C to disconnect above are the messages you will get. There is 1 file called /etc/resolv.conf. If it has allready entries then no need for u to insert new entries, if don't then insert below entries, it is used to solve DNS, I repeat this file is dependent on your area(Country, State, City). Below entries are for country India, Maharashtra, File is /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 218.248.240.181 nameserver 208.67.220.220 Thank You Ravikiran D. Borse |
| Urgent query regarding Beetel 450BXI Posted: 12 Feb 2011 10:13 AM PST Hello, Okay, I'm a real newbie to configuring routers. This is a Beetel 450BXI wireless router I have here with Airtel broadband connection. When I login to access the DSL settings of the router at 192.168.1.1, the interface I see is completely different from what it is suppose to be, according to Airtel customer care as well as the screenshots I have seen on the internet. Also, there is NO option to configure wireless anywhere. The MAC filtering is enabled and I see no option/list anywhere to add new MAC addresses or even view the current authorized MAC's. (just to add, my MAC is authorized but I don't see it anywhere). Here is how the interface looks, which is different from the default: |

I am thinking of porting my Airtel number to TATA DOCOMO only for GPRS. Airtel's GPRS/EDGE speed S**Ks. Browsing is very slow. And I get a maximum download speed of 8-12Kbps. So anyone from Kolkata, using TATA DOCOMO, can tell me how is the GPRS speed. Also please tell me how is the network coverage & any other problem related to the service. Thankyou.... |
