So when was your or your family first email account?

After after doing a bit of research i found out that my first email add was registered on 21\11\2000! @yahoo.
I thought i had registered in 1999.My father had his first email add in june 1999 from mantraonline and on 29\8\1999 from yahoo(if anyone has the cd plz upload the setup music at youtube or host it on the net).

To check your yahoo email address registration date , goto www.pulse.yahoo.com -check profile and on the right side of the page it will list.

I am sure i had registered my email in 1999.
anyways time flies!

With such high pings, speeds will vary.

Youtube videos are generally good but 30% times they do have buffering in between. For this, iChaitanya gave a solution to give the airtel DNS servers as Reliance too had this issue. I have not tried that as am more into torrents, IDM downloads.

They say they need this information to give better service to it's customers.

Got a call reconfirming if really wanted to switch. Also they mentioned that the 899 plan has been updated to have 20 GB Fair Usage Policy instead of 8 GB. I said I still wanted to downgrade as I do not see much difference between the two - I am even planning to downgrade to only 256 kbps at say 499 or 599.

god damned. paying online was already so complicated with so many parties involved. now this OTP bullshit is going to make it a bigger headache.

you guys want to know the funniest thing? you still do not need OTP or that securecode password for internetional shopping. google account does not require it. cloudflare recharged by itself without asking any of the passwords.

if your credit card is stolen, it can be used for international purchases using the information that is present on the card itself.

New BSNL 3g Connection...

Hi all,

I've been reading posts on this section for quite a while. I recently shifted to a township in outskirts of the city, so no telephone infrastructure there :madness::madness:
So decided to close my Airtel BB and get BSNL 3G. Got the 3G sim yesterday, but they said it cant be activated until monday. (today is Second Saturday :wall:).

What i want to ask is:
  1. How do I get it activated if I want to use it on an open market 3g data card (what FRC should I go for)?
  2. What open market data card should I use? I'm from Indore (MP) so the west zone thing probably applies to me. Also not interested in UMG1831, since I want a 7.2mbps card only and I want a card which is factory unlocked (which UMG1831 isn't).
  3. How is Huawei E173 for my location and how's the overall performance with BSNL 3G?

No need (at least in some circles only). Check your usage, if it shows break up usage at 2.00 am and 8.00 am. Use without reconnection. Confirm this point before using without reconnection.

BSNL 3G Problem

Of course migration on the basis of Re.1 recharge is over...
But if you recharge a sim with Rs.19 and a Rs.55 topup then you get a validity of 6 months and you are reverted to 2g.
That's what happened in my case, initially I was receiving 3g signal but after that recharge I wasn't(as in if I used the sim in my phone it wasn't receiving 3g signal).
But when I recharged with Rs.4200 3g unlimited pack I started to get 3g signal yet again. But the speeds didn't improve(it remained as they were in case of 2g).
So the question is how to get back the 3g speed?? Do I have to recharge with some other amount to get 3g validity etc. or is there another way... o_O

Go to Menu>settings>connectivity>destinations>Internet> then option>new accesspoint
Give the name bsnlnet. change APN to bsnlnet if blank. (in my phone it took same apn as sccess point name.)

Mobile Number Portability FAQs: How to safely port your number from one service to another

Facts about Mobile Number Portability:

Mobile Number Portability is always a government regulated body that implements the solution and keep track and record of port-in and port-out numbers among operators. A centralized Mobile Number Portability server and "Centralized database" is maintained by Mobile Number Portability body and accessible to all operators.

There is always one "Donner" (subscriber port-out) and "Acceptor"(subscriber port-in) operator in Mobile Number Portability topology Tehnically speaking IMSI and MSISDN are network dependent and can not be cross-mapped.

Therefore if any MSISDN port-out to other operator, recepient operator assigns new IMSI, MSISDN, ICC-ID, that is new SIM card is allocated to subsciber with similar MSISDN but with IMSI ICC-ID of new operator.

All operator update the Mobile Number Portability database againt this subscriber and also update the routing table in MSC with " LRN". LRN is alpha numeric prefix appended before the MSISDN and is specific to each operator and plays key role in Mobile Number Portability.

Number Portability Clearinghouse makes it easy for mobile operators anywhere to comply with number portability mandates. It serves as a centralized system for porting all number types(CDMA/GSM).

In the number portability the major roll is of STP (signaling Transfer Point). STP will have the local database server of the operator and it will in sync with the central database handled by the DOT and TRAI in india.

In INDIA, Mobile Number Portability is controlled(Nothing but Number Portability ClearingHouse) in joint venture with TELCORDIA (Number Portability - Telcordia - Number Portability Clearinghouse)

Whenever any subscriber want to change the operator he will buy on SIM card and acceptor operator will route(map) the IMSI with the subscriber MDN and same will be updated in the central database. Local database server of accepter and donar network will take the update from the central database.

Once the subscriber will moved from one operator to other operator he has to stay with the new operator for minimum of 3 months(90Days) as per the Mobile Number Portability guidelines provided by the TRAI.


How Mobile Operators SUCKING BLOOD while PORT-OUT their subscribers:

1) When you send a Mobile Number Portability request to get UPC by sending SMS to 1900, then immdtly your Existing operator's retention team calls you & tries to convince you with new (hidden) tariff plans which is especially made for Mobile Number Portability Switchers.

2) If you didn't convinced by retention team's offers & you still want to PORT-OUT, then your existing operator try to REJECT your Mobile Number Portability request by giving any S.H.I.T.T.Y reasons.

VALID REASONS:
i) Number is less than 90 days old.
ii) PORTing code(UPC) mis-match
iii) Requested no.'s service provider is NOT within the same service area.
iV) Un-Paid dues in case of Postpaid & negative Balance incase of pre-paid.
v) Subscriber's name mis-match

INVALID REASONS:
i) Subscribers under LifeTime validity.
ii) NOT enough positive balance(incase of prepaid).
iii) If your number is FANCY one, then they might ask you for PREMIUM NUMBER allotment charge while approving your PORT-OUT(I personally experienced this issue with my Fancy number).

POST PAID SUBSCRIBERS, BEWARE OF THIS:
Even if you clear out all your dues(generated bills), still operator's billing system shows your account is with DUEs. Its because of your unbilled amount.

So, its your duty to call your existing operator & ask for your unbilled amount & add next 10days approximate usage amount to it & Pay the same before you submitting your PORT-IN request to NEW operator. Else your PORT-OUT request will be REJECTED by your existing operator with VALID REASON. DONT TRY TO SETTLE THE UNBILLED AMOUNT WITH YOUR DEPOSIT AMOUNT(if any) with your existing operator. Because once you PORTED-OUT Successfully, you have the rights to ask your OLD operator to REFUND your DEPOSIT. So DONT mess with DEPOSITED AMOUNT while PORTING-OUT.

PRE-PAID SUBSCRIBERS, BEWARE OF THIS:
Cancel all VAS like Caller Tunes, SMS Subscription Packages(NEWS, Jokes..etc..). Try to maintain your pre-paid balance above Rs.20 till you receive the confirmation SMS from your existing operator regarding successfull approval of PORT-OUT request. Else some of VAS subscriptions may consume amount on regular basis from your existing balance & your operator may REJECT your PORT-OUT request by giving reason as 'Negative/Low Balance'.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO MAKE YOUR Mobile Number Portability SWITCHING SMOOTH:
1) Follow the TIPS given above separately for PostPaid & Pre-Paid users.
2) Dont mess with "Retention" calls from your existing operator. Handle them smoothly & reject their offers even more smoothly. If still retention team gives you more tention, then just tell them that "My mom & dad/bro/sis got 2 more your connections with postpaid & if you people didnt stop your retention calls & didnt approved my PORT-OUT request, then I will ask my mom/dad/bro/sis too apply for PORT-OUT from you".
3) Once you submitted your PORT-IN request to new operator along with all necessary documents, just relax for 3 days. On 4th day, call to existing operator & as well as new operator's customer care & ask for Mobile Number Portability status for your number.
4) On 5th, 6th & 7th day, Call & write an email to your existing operator's NODAL Officer & request them to PORT-OUT your number & also tell them that 'customer care people are NOT helping you much, so you writing to them'.
5) On Day7, get in touch with new operator & keep on asking for the status of your PORT-IN request.

DONT GET PANIC IF YOUR Mobile Number Portability REQUEST GOT REJECTED BY YOUR EXISTING OPERATOR, STILL YOU CAN RE-REQUEST FOR Mobile Number Portability AFTER 15days from the date of UPC Generation.

in my past days i am using bsnl broadband. and also using adsl router for netconnection. i am connecting internet through wifi adsl router. now i am not using bsnl broadband. now i am using beem broadband in hyderabad. that internet connection is directly to my laptop through rj45 cable. but i want to configure adsl router to my beem broadband because i want to connect internet through wifi. it is possible or not? if possible tell me the procedure.

Think 10 times before getting Tata Docomo

You are right. Sharing my experience.

I had applied for Mobile Number Portability (from vodafone to tata docomo) on 3rd of February, 2011. My number is got ported on 9th February, 2011. I had inserted new tata docomo sim which I had already recieved. It is (till date) not working. I had enquired about same many times to nodal office (9028009028) with many nodal officer (Kishor, Aniket etc.). Nobody had given satifactory answer. Then I had visited nearby tata indicom outlet(Viman nagar, pune). They told me that the sim (8991037211020005510 2) on which they had activated my number (9823674847) is wrong and he had made request to start my number on above mentioned sim. After 3 hours I got call from nodal office that my number cannot be start on above mentioned sim and I have to bought new sim. I can't understand why should I suffer and spend money for mistake what tata docomo executives had made. Then he told me that he will arrange delivery of sim card at my place and he will get back to me in some time. He never call back.

I had committed for reebok wrist watch (after my number gets activated) by nodal officer (Rakesh Chincholkar) on 5th Feb, 2011 in written communication through mail (nodal.rom@tatadocmo.com, ref: M3529866). Once my number get activated I tried to contact him many times but he always avoided me. I had made request to arrange callback from rakesh (request no : 253288667) yesterday. They told within 24 hours he will get back to me (which got completed today 15:00 p.m. without any callback). Thenafter I had called at least five times to nodal office to get a chance to talk with rakesh. All executives (aniket, kishor and one lady) told me that within 1 hour they will get back to me. Actually they are trying to avoid me so once office time over (18:00 p.m.), I can't contact them and they don't need to attend me till at least monday. Sorry to say but they all are liars.

I had also made request to change my sim (request no : 253390989). My current status is my number is gets activated but I cannot make call either from tata docomo or from vodafone and that is also due to tata docomo's mistake. And nobody is ready to start or stop my services and even not ready to give explanation. That is ridiculous. So my question is :

1) When can I expect my number will get started (I mean when can I call)?
2) When will I get my assured Reebok wrist watch ?
3) Can I expect some demonstrable actions against these all involved nodal officer ?
4) Can I get some compensation due to inconvienience cause by non professional behaviour of your nodal officer ?

My humble request is that just listen all the conversation carefully then you will get idea how rude and non professional your nodal officers are.

sadly after 2006 i play only old games as my lappy cant support it.But after seeing rockstars gta 4,red dead redemption and now la noire i have the urge to buy xbox 360.
news is that by 28feb you will be able to play back up games on the slim version.
and with the recession ms and sony will be delaying thier next gen consoles to 2013 earliest.

Another smartphone from the Indo/Chinese company.

I guess this should be in likes of Videocon Zeus/Spice Mi-300

Both of them were impressive in their own standards but none of them were successful..Olive is thinking a bit ahead and that can be a differentiator

The olive pad received a lukewarm response and I guess V-S300 might not be any different.The specs looks tempting but the fact that it is does not have a long term support can be a problem

I am not sure if the company has roadmap for their olive pad as of now...Hope at least they do well with this smartphone

Speeds are back.............. dont know what was wrong but it was very slow for about 3-5 hours, even BSNL 3G at that time was very slow here pages timing out in hyderabad during that time.

So will I get to see ESPN HD with my HD Gold pack? The ICC world cup is commencing next week!! Which channel number for ESPN HD?

I taked with TataSky CC but they have no clear idea themselves.

I would also like to know if anyone knows what is the function of 2 USB ports at the back of TataSkyHD digicomps? I plugged in a USB drive buy nothing happened.
