| Specific Requests for Hayai Broadband Posted: 10 Feb 2011 02:47 AM PST The flat-rate and bill limiter plans are different - the bill limit has a specific amount of data attached to it, which the user decides on and may change at any time he wishes. If a user reaches his bill limit on a data plan, then it will cease working until the next billing cycle. This would not apply on a flat-rate plan, which would keep going (no extra charges to the customer, but would be eating in to our profitability quite rapidly). You mean 1999 including taxes. We would not charge them any extra, however, if it got to that stage and they did not wish to upgrade their flat-rate plan to a higher speed to reflect the usage, then they would be given the option of either reducing their usage or moving to a data plan with the same bill limit (which in this case would equate to 95GB) - but that would probably be the last month they could be on a flat-rate plan. If they want neither to reduce their usage nor move to a data plan, then they are welcome to either reduce usage or find another provider (and if they chose to find another provider, then the issue of payment or lack thereof would be dealt with on a case-by-case basis: it may mean a loss of security deposit if the amount of "overuse" is large enough, but if it's only like 100GB probably it would be nothing to worry about and said security deposit still gets returned). Keep in mind of course, that this is a kind of 3-strikes deal - we can only request usage be reduced a certain number of times before something has to be done. The scenario mentioned here would probably be an extreme of extreme cases, and I see it as quite unlikely that anyone would be THAT bad after being asked 2 or 3 times to reduce their usage. This is what I mean by "responsible usage" - 900GB is a lot of data for a residential subscriber to use in a month by almost anyone's standards at the moment, and probably would constitute irresponsible usage - in 2 years of course this would have changed, and the amounts would surely be higher. |
| Posted: 10 Feb 2011 02:46 AM PST humm till now we haven't seen any product that can compete with ipad .. xoom was some what near to them but over price and otehr factor will affect them badly .. if some product launched rightly can definitely give good competition to ipad ... i don't think any iPhone user will think to buy it for bigger screen as they already had iPhone which do all the task .. and apps for iPod are costly than the same for iPhone .. iPod is doing great as they created totaly new category and currently no one is there to compete with them .. that is why they want to keep the exclusivity in this sector .. and that is the reason they decided the bi-yearly (twice in year) cycle .. and also thinking 7 inch model ... |

I like to join in the discussions and/or subscribe to the threads so as I see all of the updates and can jump in if I'm needed (sometimes people have started threads, not told me, and wonder why I don't answer... I didn't even know of the threads existence, which doesn't help). 2. Many of your questions have probably been answered already. A good place to start is the FAQ thread. The first post is kept relatively up to date. That pretty much covers it for now. |

| Post your internet budget with your usage and speed requirement. Posted: 10 Feb 2011 01:32 AM PST We already did a survey on this when I first came up with the idea in 2009 :D We found most people's usage would increase by not more than 60%, no matter what plan they got. We already know and accept that we're going to be somewhat of a niche company, because our aim is to provide India's Fastest Broadband, not India's Cheapest Broadband - however combining our proposed tariffs with the speeds and everything else should create a new category entirely: India's Best Value for Money Broadband! |

| Subramanian swamy and corruption exposure Posted: 10 Feb 2011 12:36 AM PST This is all fine & good but what is the timeframe we can expect for swami's court case to begin ? This year, next year ? what ? When will it conclude if at all. There is ZERO input for any legal correspondent as to the merits of this case and its chances of sucess. This link mentions a date Quote: The notice has been issued for Feb 22. The order came on a private complaint filed by Swamy seeking registration of a criminal case against Raja for his alleged role in the scam, which, according to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), caused a presumptive loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer. Ealier on Jan 7 the court upheld swamy's plea against Raja. Quote: A Delhi court today held as ”maintainable” Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy’s private complaint to prosecute former Telecom Minister A Raja in the 2G scam and began the process of recording depositions and examining evidence for summoning the accused. “I am of the opinion that complaint as such is maintainable,” Special CBI Judge Pradeep Chaddah said, beginning the court proceedings on Swamy’s complaint for Raja’s prosecution for allegedly causing a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crores to the public exchequer in allocation of 2G spectrum. “I have gone through the complaint and the bunch of annexure and supporting documents. I am of the view that this complaint is maintainable and the proceedings will continue,” Chaddah said, while asking Swamy to have his statement recorded with the court as per the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. “We will not hesitate in issuing process against the accused if prima facie sufficient material is brought on the record,” the judge said. After Swamy’s deposition, the court adjourned the matter to February 5 for recording the testimonies of other witnesses, which as per Swamy’s complaint, includes various CAG officials who have to testify to the authenticity of the CAG report on the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Earlier, after pronouncing Swamy’s complaint as maintainable, the court spelled out the modalities of further proceedings saying first of all Swamy will have to depose as a complainant in the case and then only his plea seeking appointment as a deemed public prosecutor, could be decided. “You cannot assume the roles of a complainant and a public prosecutor simultaneously,” the judge said. Quote: Explaining his rationale to the court for filing his private complaint before it, Swamy had said that though the CBI has registered an FIR in the matter, it has named no body as an accused. |

| So its been 2 years since airtel introduced FUP Posted: 09 Feb 2011 11:40 PM PST Call it competitive curiosity. Guess I'd better reserve my spot on one of the big boats then. Oh wait, 2012 is a movie. On average, the world has been "going to end" about once every 5-years between year 44 A.D and today, including several times in the '80s, '90s and 2000's. And last time I checked, I lived through all those. |

| feedback to tikona customer service Posted: 09 Feb 2011 01:43 PM PST If Tikona is even the only ISP in the world I’d rather stop using internet than too go for it! & I’m serious about it. The company is being run by a bunch of thugs. I’m based in South Delhi & I registered my query with JustDial for ISPs who can cater to my area. Quite a few number of calls came with variety of plans. Among them there was a call from one Ms. Shalini from Tikona. She told me about a plan offered by Tikona in which, on a monthly Rental of Rs. 250+taxes, I’ll get 256kbps. Additional benefit was that upto a traffic of 200MB the bandwidth shall be 2Mbps. She added that there is an installation charge of Rs. 1,000/-, which shall get halved, if I agree to pay two months’ rental+taxes in advance. On enquiring about the first bill amount, she clarified that it would be Rs. 500/- for installation and two months rental+taxes would be Rs. 560/-, hence the first bill would be of Rs. 1,060/-. I opted for it on the promise that the connection shall be made active the next day of making the payment. Next day, their guy came (an un-adultrated dumbo!), filled up the form & took the cash. SO FAR SO GOOD!! Now my ordeal started. After numerous phone calls to their office & to Shalini, the connection was activated at the end of the 4th day. It was a wired connection (& after about 4 months & n-number of complaints, the wire is still scattered in my home without being properly cabled). I was yet to understand that this false promise was only the tip of the iceberg. The connection was activated on 18th Oct. 10 & the first thing I did was to check the website of Tikona about their charges and found that the installation charge was Rs. 500/- only. On raising the matter with Shalini, she blatantly declared that the site contains outdated info. For the first one & half months, there were frequent downtimes, I beared with it. Then from Dec. end calls started coming for payment. On being told that I have paid two months advance rental @ Rs. 280/- incl. taxes, to my utter shock, I was told that there was never such plan and the plan sold to me was a Rs. 499/- p.m. plan. On contacting Shalini, she refused to talk & shamelessly disconnected my call. Now, it’s been close to two month I’m fighting for justice & they, at first kept on calling me for making payment while increasing my outstanding billing and now have resorted to blackmailing by disconnecting my internet connection. And for my numerous complaints, neither any one of them has been resolved nor there is any call back. And the best-part.. THEY NEVER PROVIDE ANY COMPLAINT REFERENCE NNUMBER |

| Posted: 09 Feb 2011 01:33 PM PST If Tikona is even the only ISP in the world I’d rather stop using internet than too go for it! | MTNL 3G on iPhone 4 - Settings & Performance Posted: 09 Feb 2011 12:26 PM PST I think HSDPA is activated on all SIMs now a days. On my SIM I never activated the HSDPA and was getting about 2 mbps download speed even when I had less than Rs 100 balance in my card. Now I am using Rs 4500 for 6 months Unlimited and my download speed is still the same. I bought the SIM in October 2009 and never recharged it with anything to activate HSDPA. It was a MTNL 3G SIM as was mentioned on the package of the SIM that I still have. |

| Aircel to launch 3G services before start of world cup Posted: 09 Feb 2011 05:59 AM PST from what i see it is going to be unlikely. 2g pricing was easy. speeds are low so user cannot really use much with it. 3g is a different beast altogether. you can actually consume a lot of data using it even on a smartphone without tethering your computer to it. and also... aircel is not really an ISP. so they do not have access to cheap international bandwidth like airtel does. they would probably have to buy bandwidth from one of the rivals and that would mean that competitive pricing is going to be tough. |
