Allot Communications and Openet: Enemies of network neutrality

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 03:00 AM PST

yeap. media giants are scared of the internet. a lot of them are working hard to ensure that it becomes a one way medium like television and radio today.

and companies like apple are helping them in the same.

here is an excellent video we light to highlight demonstrating the whole problem.

Fair Usage Policy on unlimited broadband plans

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:58 AM PST

yeap. it sucks. they have no good plan today even if you are willing to pay more. i mean i am still paying 2000 rupees for their 1mbps iptv plan. and i am not changing it to their newer plans because they have terrible limits. and i bet, a mail would soon arrive in the future informing me that they are automatically switching me to the new plan because they are discontinuing the old plan i currently have.

Mukesh Ambani Broadband Co 4G Test

i still do not understand why people keep on praising reliance for the mobile revolution they gave us.

ok. they launched some phone devices really cheap. and their initial plans were rather amazing for that time.

but they also lowered the standard of quality of services we expected from mobile service providers.

no one goes for reliance nowadays. mostly because of poor quality service and worse customer support.

do we want something similar with our broadband services?

Samsung galaxy 3(i5800 / i5801) vs LG Optimus One P500

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:55 AM PST

heh. you said that u hate nokia and htc. what else is left? :)

there is a thread going on about android phones priced below Rs. 15000.

there are three options from what i see.

samsung galaxy s
htc wildfire
lg optimus one

i am not a fan of either of these devices. frankly speaking. if i were to spend 15K on a phone today, it would be a very tough decision to make.

if you are not really concerned about android apps and just want a decent phone... samsung wave is another alternative for you.

Printer in 4K range

epson seems to be struggling in india. i do not see their printers in the local market anymore.

canon on the other hand is getting aggressive. they are running some campaign where you can buy a canon product and get good cash-back offerings. not sure how they operate and whether they are applicable on their printers.

and, yeah, black cartridges @ rs. 700 does hurt the wallet.

well all my computing purchases go through a single dealer. he has a dude managing refilling of cartridges. i have not tried anywhere else. and i don't have plans to. :)

what is that? :D

anyways. i am waiting for a day when we can totally stop relying on printouts.

i mean it sucks for me to submit hard copies of documents when i should be able to send emails of them to the concerned bodies.

especially when it comes to taking telephone connections.

PVR Digicomp Box Problem

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:48 AM PST

I have been trying to contact customer support since Nov 21st - and have submitted multiple tickets to get the receiver replaced. Everytime they put in a Work order into the system, everytime I get a call from their local/north India customer care guys to schedule an appointment but then nothing happens - probably one of the worst service I have ever experienced in this area -
Anyone has any luck getting a PVR replaced?

How to Connect Nokia E63 to BSNL Wifi Router?

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 02:15 AM PST

Hi Friends,

I have just purchase Nokia E63. I can connect my Desktop computer with wireless 802.11b network adapter and Lenovo Laptop N100 Series to BSNL Broadband through Wireless ADSL Router. But, for this, I have to fill Username and password for browsing internet from my computer. And I have special IP Address too for Bowering Internet from BSNL Wireless ADSL Router. Therefor, For browsing internet from my BSNL Wifi Router, I must have to fill up IP Address of BSNL Server and lastly user name and password in my PPPoE Dialer in computer. Now, How I can connect my Nokia E63 to BSNL Wifi Router through Wi-Fi without entering any IP Address on it? I can configure my BSNL Wifi Router to browser Internet without entering any Username and Password for PPPoE Dialer. But still, I must provide unique IP address of My BSNL server for connecting this mobile to Wireless internet Browsing. My Nokia E63 detects my BSNL Wifi Router easily. But I can not serve internet through it without entering my dialer user name and passpord and IP address of my BSNL Server on my Nokia E63 handset. Can I serve internet on my mobile through wifi networking from my Lenovo Laptop?

Please Help.
