| Learning Linux from pen drive only Posted: 16 Dec 2010 03:01 AM PST Hi iijmanojit, Thanks a lot for the wonderful reply. Since I am not Linux savvy, please do help me with the following. Sorry, if they are stupid questions. 1. I have an old laptop with Windows XP on given by my company. It has all the legal versions of software on it. It has only one OS and that is Win XP with no partition or any other OS. So if I decide to download Ubuntu then I go to this page. Download | Ubuntu Here in the first section titled Download Ubuntu Desktop Edition , which one should I download from the dropdown menu? Ubuntu 10.10 Latest Version or Ubuntu 10.04 - LTS? What is the difference if any? 2. If I do download any one of the above mentioned 2 versions of Ubuntu, will it have all the servers, Apache, MySQL, Office etc? I just want to use my USB pen drive of more than 4 GB just like any other hard drive. I also want to save office documents and also do some changes/settings/modifications within Ubuntu on the pen drive. Will it save all the changes/settings and created files/documets etc. 3. On the same download page there is another links as follows: Other ways to get Ubuntu Order CDs > Ubuntu Server Edition> Ubuntu Netbook Edition> Download | Ubuntu I am not sure whether I should download the Ubuntu Server Edition. Does the new Ubuntu 10.10 has all the servers and technically complicated things (generally handled by experience Linux admins etc.) 4. Once I download Ubuntu on my Windows XP hard drive, I need to burn it to a CD/DVD and then insert this Cd/DVD into the drive and at the same time insert the pen drive and then restart the pc, right? So both the Cd/DVD and pen drive should be inserted while restarting the pc, am I correct here? |

That is the reason we still stuck up with BSNL , otherwise , |

| Airtel Broadband Slow Speed High Ping Problem #airtelsucks Posted: 16 Dec 2010 01:33 AM PST I don't think Airtel blocks any ports - I may be wrong. I myself downloaded Ysupra 1.0.0.62 and was unable to use voice either - perhaps you need to ask on Ysupra and Yhook websites why voice is not working. I don't personally see much use for this software but I guess some people are finding use for it. ---------- Post added at 03:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM ---------- I should probably note I'm not on Airtel Broadband - I'm in another country on a fairly-fast connection and it is not working here either. |

| Google's netbook running on Chrome OS Posted: 16 Dec 2010 01:05 AM PST I dont think it will take 2 years for chrome to catchup. Startup time of 10 secs is something which is great to hear, compared to the painful start time of windows. I would like to own one, if I had enough money.. :) The success of this lies on the stability and security of the OS, and how well it can integrate MS office and outlook. |
