Using Teracom (Linktop / LW273) datacard with Ubuntu!

Posted: 10 Nov 2010 03:24 AM PST

I have successfully configured LW273 (7.2 mbps) datacard in Ubuntu 10.10 by fixing the usb_modeswitch package but I can't say about LW272 (3.6 mbps). I think, it should work with same method. See my blog post for more information.

I am in the process of integrating BSNL datacard support in the usb-modeswitch package. I already did this for LW273 model. If any of you provide me some information about LW272 datacard, I will complete the process and upload the fixed ubuntu package or my PPA on Launchpad.

Just attach the output of the following command (from terminal)

$ lsusb -v > ~/Desktop/lsusb.txt

Do it fast so that, I can publish it ASAP.

Thanks

OK,so now that I got my plan changed to 1350 UL Plus, I see that the numbers in 'chargeable units' on the usage checking portal is 0 from the day my plan changed to 1350 (effective 9/11/2010). Is this normal?

Tata Docomo postpaid great experience

I think Tata DOCOMO postpaid is the best choice to go for rather than Airtel which never provides good network at all and Vodafone which charges more for unwanted services.

Few questions about Reliance Wireline (Broadband) internet

Posted: 10 Nov 2010 02:20 AM PST

Sadly it is no use having a good product if you cannot sell or support it.
I have posted my details twice on their website and nobody has bothered to contact. If this is what happens before sales imagine what it would be like if you need to contact them if your net is down.
Is there some number I can call if I want to switch to Reliance broadband?

Questions about Mini laptops

Posted: 10 Nov 2010 02:08 AM PST

Hi,

I have a few questions regarding the mini laptops sold these days by a number of brands. I am talking about these 10" (10 inch screen size) laptops. Are they any good? They do not have a DVD-ROM/Writer as far as I know. How do they show a website on a small screen of 10"? I think one has to scroll a lot- up and down, right and left to view a page. If I want to install Linux, how do I do so? Can I install it from a USB pen drive with a capactity of 10 GB? If you have used them, please post screen shots of website. Tell me more about them based on your own experience as I want to gift it to my cousin. Thanks.

Want to test Tata Photon Plus modem

Posted: 10 Nov 2010 01:36 AM PST

Hi,

I live in Bhayander (a Mumbai suburb) and would like to use Tata Photon Plus USB modem for internet access. Since I am not sure whether it is a risk worth taking considering its cost which is around rs. 2400-2500, I would like to test its signal strength in my area which happens to be Bhayander east. I would like to request someone to lend me his Tata Photon Plus modem for a couple of days. I do not wish to download anything from the net. I just want to test its signal strength before spending the money. I am willing to pay some amount for using it for a couple of days. If you want a deposit for security that can also be taken care of. Please reply soon. I am a genuine person and not a fraud. Thanks.
