Broadband connectivity options in Delhi Posted: 20 Oct 2010 03:05 AM PDT It has improved a little... but not that much..... i mean the uptime has gone from 50% in the last 6 years to 99.9% ( though the service may crap out if you have like a thunderstorm in your area ) the infamous CC still remains as stupid as beant and meant singh.. but you can go around hurling abuses at the MTNL broadband GM to get your connection working in 1~2 hours..

1.5 months of tata photon plus - Now I know why airtel is best of the worst Posted: 20 Oct 2010 03:01 AM PDT @anupam, 1st of all, please dont quote yourself when you have so many images in your post, it is not so good for those on Data based plans, and also makes it difficult to follow the text. You can edit your previous post if you want to make any changes. Also, they do mention on their website that expected speed is 500kbps only. As for the 3 months rule, ask them where it is mentioned on the website. If it is there, then you cannot do anything about it, but you may get lucky and it may not be there. As you have all your complaint numbers, you can try contacting the nodal officer as well. In fact, to change my bill plan, the conversation was as follows(me:M , TATA CC:T) M: Pls change my bill plan to ... T:Then u will lose ur discount M:Where does it say so? T: On the website M: where on the website T:(guides me to postpaid plans section and asks me to read the T&C below the plans) M: (read them to him) T: Sir, there must be a condition with a '*' saying T&C apply M: I just told you the T&C ( had the same conversation 5-6 times and complaint here, followed by a complaint to Nodal officer, they managed to fix my day time speed(to 500-1000kbps), but night time cannot be fixed--I do understand the reason why it cannot be fixed) and adjusted my bill plan, in addition to some refund amount ---------- Post added at 03:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:25 PM ---------- @anupam, also you can use the speedtest image link instead of full screenshots, much lighter and provide the same info.
What would you do with a 100mbit/s or 1Gbit/s connection? Posted: 20 Oct 2010 03:00 AM PDT HD Streaming would require like i guess 10~15mbits.... @svk is right ... IPTV should not be considered as a service provided by the ISP to the consumer under the normal broadband connection since he would have to pay extra and hence it should be considered as a Value Added service... but yes the advantage of having a 100mbits line is that if the consumer decides to use IPTV... he can do that without having to pay extra for installation(line) and disrupted broadband service while the IPTV works...

Nokia Siemens Networks Readies Time Division Duplex version-LTE for India Posted: 20 Oct 2010 02:38 AM PDT Nokia Siemens Networks is the first company to successfully demonstrate the Time Division Duplex version of LTE (TD-LTE) using broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum in India. The first video call was made by Gurdeep Singh, chief operating officer of Aircel. The call was conducted with the 4G mobile technology running on commercial hardware at the Nokia Siemens Networks' Bengaluru R&D facility. It marks an important milestone moving 2.3 GHz TD-LTE closer to commercial availability. During the test, Nokia Siemens Networks demonstrated high-definition video streaming and three-way video conferencing. Using interoperable TD-LTE dongles from Samsung, the demo showcased a peak throughput speed of 110 megabits per second (Mbps) and low latency in the range of 10-20 milliseconds. The end-to-end demonstration was based on Nokia Siemens Networks' LTE equipment and software. These include the company's award-winning Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Evolved Packet Core which comprises Flexi NS(Network Server) and Flexi NG (Network Gateway) and standard-compliant software. TD-LTE technology promises enhanced delivery of broadband to laptops on the move and smartphone services, thanks to increased data rates, reduced latency and its scalable all-IP flat network architecture. This technology ensures high-speed mobile broadband connectivity and a superior performance from mobile applications across a wide range of devices. "Today's demo reiterates our leadership and commitment to getting TD-LTE into new market. It also demonstrates our regional and global progress in this area," said Juha Lappalainen, head of mobile broadband sales at Nokia Siemens Networks. "Our TD-LTE trials across the globe prove our capability in driving rapid commercial TD-LTE network deployments aimed at facilitating a new wave of advanced mobile broadband services." "This is an important milestone in building the TD-LTE ecosystem in India," added Urs Pennanen, head of India region, Nokia Siemens Networks. "TD-LTE over the Broadband Wireless Access spectrum is important for the country, as it will allow operators to offer voice and data to the masses. We are ready to collaborate with partners to accelerate our progress toward a comprehensive deployment of TD-LTE in India." Source :: Telecom Talk
