Hey Hi, I am currently on Bsnl 750

it would be better if you stay on same plan cause the speed in my plan is very less about 55-60 not much,I too download much so i got this i i download about 2 gb in a day (not night)so i use this but if you download in day you need this plan (at night this plan is not for you)you can have more speed than this if you stay on that plan .

Here are my few suggestions.

1) Do not change the order (sequence) of channels. MOD channels should be placed in the list as per their number.

2) Write the number of channels in brackets in front of the category, like you have done in Tatasky. e.g. Showcase (6) , Hindi News (12).

3) Following info is missing which you have given in Tatasky.
Main TV Channels including HD : 179
Interactive Services : 10
Showcase Channels : 6
Help Channel : 1

Total : 196 Channels & Services

I do understand that placing channels as per their numbers is difficult, because sorting of channels in Dish TV is very wrong. :madness:

In between properly placing Shakti TV and Care World in lifestyle section proves your depth of knowledge. But still I will recommend not to change the sequence.

Also "lifestyle" and "spiritual" category is missing from Tatasky menu also. They can move "favourite channels" elsewhere or "showcase VOD" to Movies, and make 0 and 9 available for "LIFESTYLE" and "SPIRITUAL" categories.

@anant.del lol that's why I said I didn't take their (unf-Airtel's) BS and stuck with my decision flat out. Well but there are pains included of taking new connections again, but hopefully should be worth the wait though I'm not having high hopes given it's our country's nature to disappoint. First up, I had to back out on Reliance because they have logging in through site and don't provide wireless modem. And the dude called me real late saying there is availability for my location etc. and basically he didn't even know the difference between static and dynamic IP lol

Oh and @dhananjayk that is some issue with the modem settings or something man, the guy should come and set it right for you, if he does come that is, and hopefully should be slightly technically bright, I wouldn't say sound that's too much to ask for from BSNL. Something about changing the settings to get more than 2mbps or something I guess. My cousin with the same plan faced this issue and said it was sorted out by the technician. So hope your problem gets solved soon.

After speaking to the Reliance guy and educating him on what his own company does and should do, he said sir you are the only person who has told me the entire list of faults we have at a go, but unfortunately what can we do sir, we don't make the decisions, our higher officers etc should!!! lol WTF?! I said well what do you expect you walk into RELIANCE WORLD, there is a not a single person for RELIANCE wired broadband, but you have a counter even for mobile repair(seriously) leave alone not having even the damn brochures for wired broadband. I told him why would you tell a person log on to so and so site and "Apply for a connection" when first of all if he had the internet connection to do that would he even fcuking bother to apply for one?

Well as of now looks like I have to go the BSNL way 512 kbps for now and monthly rental wireless modem bcoz free modem option comes only for higher plans, which obviously does have the ULF(FUP), basically the same s#it, and that too those who choose annual payment option only avail that benefit so not interested in opting for that right now. Best bet would be use this BSNL connection for some time get a damn Reliance wired broadband connection as a back up once work is in full flow, oh and more importantly, finances are steady, and then swap the damn modems and be done.

Reliance wired broadband prices for plans are real cool no doubt with no FUP and all, but the technical aspect of things are real fcuked up! I mean what's the use of having fiber optic and s#it and then have the most fcuked up access systems, auto log off crap, sick modems, lack of Static IP, most ignorant of customer service. I mean do you even know what the reason he gave for late reply was?!! I quote, "I thought you will be angry with me sir, since I did not respond properly the first few times you called"?!! WTF?!!!

Yeah right and I guess if he called me even more later I am only going to smile showing my 32 teeth (oh wait, actually 30, 2 were removed) and give him a bunch of flowers and ask him to marry me?!! (When neither am I gay or in California) Sheesh! Pointless to the core! As pointless as the whole "I'm sorry I fcuked your daughter and she died, but I have to tend to my crops statement" Now I know why no one trusts the law nor will wanna waste time trying to sue these corporate biggies, because we'll eventually be digging our own freakin' graves. Slightly out of context, but nonetheless, Don't miss the point:

"Law should Govern the Government and the Government should not Govern the Law!" coz if it does, then your only left with the option of "Do It Yourself and Hope to Die A Peaceful Death."(which actually I am bound to follow now since I've given up hope and some one might end my life with a painful death for doing so ;) lol) First Law should be corrected to close all loopholes for a*$eholes and then imposed as "Law of the Land" and be FOLLOWED by each and everyone of its citizens regardless of politician or whoever! So too many bad points on Reliance side and well not that there are any good points on BSNL's side either. Here's a version of how things went for me on Thursday.(Government Holidays were coming up) I go at 1:30 p.m. to a BSNL branch office on N.H. Road, Ayanavaram (Chennai). It has all the ads etc, for broadband, but only a security guy who gapes at me like as if I was speaking to him in Greek(probably effects of a heavy lunch) when inquiring about broadband application. Thankfully a guy(maybe a pitiful customer) told me don't waste your time go straight to Kelly's office.

There are two BSNL offices in the same area(Kellys, Pursawalkam) mind you (of course which I didn't know) I went down to the main road one, which is just approaching Pursawalkam, but they said go to customer care center inside one of the streets in Kellys next to AVP Nursing home or something so I did now with all this loitering I finally came to the place and got down to the business of filling the forms as usual and then I was told you have to pay Rs. 500 refundable deposit since you HAVE to take the telephone connection when it says on site NO INITIAL CHARGES till November 15th, 2010. I realized I had put the cash in the bank since Reliance only takes cheque so had to make a quick dash to the ATM and back, now it was 4:00 p.m. and guess what, counters closed!!! FCUKING SCREWED and definitely pissed off!!! And guess what the board outside on the main gate says?! "8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m." - My fcuking Bollocks?!!

Now why in fcuk's sake would someone put 8 to 8 on a board and have the counters only till 4 p.m. when whatever you do, even applications or bill payments, you definitely NEED the counter to pay right?! So ALL LOGIC ends right there. So now I will actually have to be going there again and man I tell you I was even pissed off enough to want to go with the fcuking Reliance connection and be done, but then I had already withdrawn the cash and the hassle of going back to the ATM and depositing put me off of it. So let's see if my patience was worth it. As always we can all only Hope and Pray that God Saves Our Country!!!

I bought a MTNL 3G Dolphin SIM card with a iLemon HSDPA modem. I spent Rs. 2500 to buy that and I posted some time back my inability to use it on Linux (which haven't been fixed yet :frown:), however, I lived with it... used it on Windows.

Coming to the main topic: Recharge plans of MTNL 3G. Please visit this link to see the present pre-paid advertised rates on MTNL's website.

To quickly summarize: A new iLemon Modem comes at a cost of Rs. 2500 with a 15 GB recharge coupon. The validity of this coupon is 2 months. Presently MTNL's website shows recharge plans of Rs. 99, 250, 450, 750, 2500 and you get data usage of 130 MB to 25 GB with a validity of just 30 days.

Now for a typical user who recharges for a Rs. 99 - Rs. 750 amount will get 1 month validity and a usage of 130 MB to 2 GB, the person in all likely hood consume that data with the validity of 1 month.

However, people who want a higher data usage like 10 GB, 15GB, 20GB and 25GB don't have any option left but to spend Rs. 2500 / month and consume 25GB and if you are not able to consume that, then your data is wasted and so is your money.

Below is a solution / HACK on MTNL's plan and make money, untill MTNL comes up with a smarter recharge option or validity periods.

Buy a new connection every time, you will get a new modem + 15GB recharge coupon with a validity of 2 months. :happy:

Actually, you can make a good business out of it. Buy these modems from MTNL, take the SIM card and recharge coupons, use it for your personal use and sell the modems at 50% discounts and make money.


If someone is MTNL is reading this, a quick solution to avoid such a problem is:

Increase the validity of re-charge coupons from 1 month to 2 or 3 months depending on the size of the re-charge. Below is a suggestive break-up of what can work in favour of you:

10 GB recharge - Rs. 1750 - Validity 45 Days
20 GB recharge - Rs. 2250 - Validity 2 months
25 GB recharge - Rs. 2500 - Validity 3 months

In this way, you are giving the benefit of higher amount spent to the user (i.e. extended validity) also, incentive to buy higher amounts of recharge in one go.

I hope this helps and some action is taken soon.

MTNL Wimax

I'm pretty sure I know who who is involved in building this: it's my understanding that there are supposed to be 1,200 base stations going in around the city [Mumbai], and the service is meant to be fully mobile (as in, usable on the move).

I don't know about MTNL's pricing, but if I'm correctly informed, our prices should be pretty good. I look forward to some reviews ;)

What about fiber optic cable right to our homes + increased speeds :D . In fact MTNL MD (Mumbai) last year had given a interview that FO cabling would start in Dec 2009 but as usual no sign of it yet :icry::@:wall: When I had mentioned this to the DE for my area he had doubled up in laughter.

Hey, thans friend for ur reply!!

So i think, Big TV is better than Cable.....coz when our cable goes out, it never returns for a minimum of 15-20 minutes, or after we call up our cable guy.

This comes back in 2 odd minutes, thats superb.....this was what i was looking fo. Coz at many places, irate customers clearly appeared to hype the issue saying "Until it rains, the Signal remains dead"...!!
