Unbelievable - Bsnl Wimax 2mbps Unlimited at 999 Posted: 19 Sep 2010 02:06 AM PDT Well...I am currently posting from WiMaX connection (in Kozhikode)...and its really good. Getting around 2.2Mbps. But I think I must be one of the few subscribers in this areas. I live within 2 KMs of the base station so had to get an Outdoor CPE. But the signal strengths (can be seen in CPE admin interface) are steady. The good news is the SDE told me they are going to reduce the plan charges from 999 to 750. Now that would make it on par with wired BB (unlimited plan). Folks living nearer to the tower (<0.5 KMs) can go for USB CPE.

Airtel cannot give you 2mbps service Posted: 19 Sep 2010 12:44 AM PDT thank you all for replying , Airtel service is a good in responding however it may not be good in rectifying the problem. The speed issue is still the same and i cannot view youtube videos without buffering even at 480 res. I am seriously contemplating shifting to BSNL 4mbps plan which is for 1400 pm. Taken annualling it amounts to 14000/- with free modem which costs about 2000/- so its about 1000/- pm. FUP is 25GB which though not high maybe sufficient. Can anyone give me any feedback on BSNL service at 4MBPS ? Also Funkatrnic what do u mean by "Btw, did you try to see your routing to youtube?" I dont know about that. Ping times are 315ms though

Airtel Broadband to double broadband speeds by June 2010 #airtelsucks Posted: 18 Sep 2010 11:00 PM PDT Same plan as you and I can confirm that I have been officially reduced to the fair usage policy speed according to my plan.i.e 1 Mbps. Was redirected to a page stating the same(mentioned happy browsing at the end too:o ) Downloads + Uploads in this billing(22nd of august to 23rd of september) period were close to 100 Gb or even slightly more than that. If that is my final plan then I am happy with that. 2 Mbps till 100 Gb's then 1Mbps for the rest of the billing period. Since my billing period starts in 3 days, I'll get a fair idea then I guess. @admin Hard luck!Perhaps you have a plan which might not have been considered for upgradation since its not a stand alone broadband plan?Is that right? Atleast, you can not be fooled into accepting some plan that you wouldn't even want.I still don't have much of an idea about mine.If they reduce me to 256Kbps tomorrow then there's not much I can do then to threaten Airtel with disconnection again.
