Since it is few and far between, why are we talking about it ? Again i am saying that VDSL will be deployed when it will be deployed...presently for most users even on Airtel bandwidth on copper cable (not theoretical but practical) over ADSL/ADSL2+ is a big issue with IPTV..if u read about IPTV connections globally u will find that till fibre was been deployed last-mile bandwidth was major bottleneck for IPTV..same thing applies to India. MTNL when it enables IPTV, reduces teh internet speed to 256 Kbps why is that if bandwidth over ADSL/ADSL2+ is not a problem? FYI MTNL has ADSL 2+ enabled for most DSLAM's

Well the STB's being sold as of now are not internet capable..so why would the regulation apply to them? Yes they work on IP but working on IP and being an internet device are two different things..they dont go beyond the co's local server to access the net. Frankly the whole idea of having to get a second connection just coz of some regulation seems absurd..techically non-feasibility is a much more rational explanation. I dont know whether a second STB on IPTV accessing the co's local server would qualify as multiple internet logins..apart from being a technical question, it is also a legal moot point.

Company policy or technical non-feasibility is what i would put my money on.Again this is practical non-feasibility (not theoretical) in cases where the line length is long and there is no fibre which i think is still the case with majority of installations even with Airtel. Case in point...my home..it does not have fibre anywhere near it. It was dug up before me so i know.

Misleading Information in BIG TV website

Firstly, let me clarify that Ive started this thread NOT to defame BIG or something like dat. Please do not make this a HOT thread, those interested ur presence is most unwelcome here :D

To topic, Yesterday I was surfing websites of all DTH ops to look for their Entry offers (Airtel, Videocon and D2H) for my frnd who wants to purchase new DTH connection. Didnt recommend him TS(Expensive) and Dish TV(NEO channels).

So got in BIG TV website, hmm 1st time I was seeing the big tv website after they changed :D got to dis link

Why BIG TV - BIG TV vs Others

Now several misleading information is been given by BIG TV in terms of other operators.

1) No. of Channels: 150 in Tata Sky which is wrong , TS has currently 180 channels. They almost left one MPEG-4 transponder :D
Even Airtel has more channels which is mentioned in BG TV website

2) Parental Control: They have mentioned dis features :

* Enables to lock a channel
* Block programs based on their content rating
* Can be unlocked only by using your unique PIN

These features are present in Tata Sky also, dont know abt others.

Interactive TV, control what your children watch on your TV, satellite television India

3) Guide : They have mentioned 2 days advance programming and have not selected Tata sky. Infact, Tata Sky has 4 days EPG. So dont know what made BIG TV unselect dat option too. Maybe for Dish tv too.



So why is BIG TV giving wrong information abt other DTH's in their website? Just to mislead the customers? I have already forwarded dis to higher officials of Tata Sky and they wud love to register a case against dem :P

How to active GPRS 54 plan on my bsnl mobile

hi just came across on bsnl website saying there is this plan on gprs Rs 54 with free usage of 300 MB per day 2 GB at night Rs.0.01/10KB Additional usage charge with 30 days validity how do get the recharge done.. do i have to go to mobile shop and tell him to do 54 rupees recharge and it will start or do i have to send any sms like GPRS54 that will deduct from my balance.. kindly tell me what is procedure..

The common APN for BSNL GPRS/3G is the same bsnlnet.
gprsnorth,south,east,west etc all are outdated now.

Were u using GPRS before taking the Rs35 Pack. If Yes ten the problem would be that some of your application would be using the Airtel Live to access the net. Make sure that u delete the Airtel Live setting and use the Mobile Office setting that Airtel might have send to you.
