Flipkart and Snapdeal are no longer authorized partners/dealers in India for Nikon Products Posted: 16 Sep 2013 03:00 AM PDT Flipkart is no longer an authorized partner/dealer in India for Nikon Products. So, after 19/07/2013, I don't think it would be a good idea to buy Nikon products from Flipkart since Nikon might refuse warranty or free service to the product. Not sure about products bought before 19/07/2013 though. Another setback for Flipkart it seems.

Airtel Broadband: A Money Fleecing Scheme Posted: 16 Sep 2013 02:42 AM PDT In first quarter of the year 2013 India's average internet speed was 1.3 mbps; far below the speed of developed countries and to some extent even some of the developing countries. To prove my point anyone can read a few news articles on the internet, and compare India's average internet speed with that of other countries, and on that list India would appear at the bottom.
In most developed countries the minimum broadband speed set for ISP's (Internet service providers) to sell broadband internet plans are at minimum 1-2mbps. In January, 2011, TRAI(Telecom regulatory Authority of India) had raised the minimum broadband speed requirement to 512kbps, but malpractices still continue, I shall share an example here latter.
Internet holds a great potential and can mean business to many. Many people make their living out of internet, and internet means money. But corporates like Airtel (one of India's leading telecom provider), and its competitors try to fleece as much money as they can from users. I have to say it's not just Airtel Broadband (mention Airtel here on), but other ISP's too. I will take Airtel's example, as I am its customer and a disappointed and helpless one.
People use internet for different purposes, some are termed as heavy users, others as light users. Heavy users are those who use up most of the internet bandwidth. Problem for ISP's are these heavy users, who clutter their networks. The only way out is by providing them with limited bandwidth since no one else is able to use up the bandwidth meant for all. But this is not the correct way as adopted by companies like Airtel -adding more user to the network rather than upgrading their broadband infrastructure for being able to handle higher bandwidth. So how does Airtel limit the bandwidth? By adding Fair usage policy (FUP) clause, or as most people call it F**k user policy. Worst so ISP's sell unlimited internet plans with FUP, in technical terms its limited to, because FUP is a limit itself.
There are many other unfair practices, but I will just tell you few of the problems I faced, and its something all future and current Airtel customers or other ISP's customer should know.
We have been using Airtel broadband services for very long, 5-6 years tops, really can't recall when exactly. It was a Rs. 649 plans at first 256Kbps internet speed, we had this plan for a 4-5years, even after discontinued selling that plan, as I was away, and parents were light users. Some time ago they changed the plan to Rs.849 (I can't recall the exact price, it was about this much), with 512kbps speed, and FUP limit of 8 GB, beyond which the speed used to go below 256kbps. This is totally an unfair practice, as TRAI has set a minimum broadband speed limit of 512kpbs.
Now once you are about to reach the said FUP limit, in my case 8GB, they you get a lot of pop up, saying you are reaching the FUP limit, and consider buying additional bandwidth, which thay call SmartBytes. So these pop-up just keeps coming, and spoils the internet experience. i.e. If I am on a skype call, the call is disrupted, etc. So Airtel is just nuisance to customer, and trying to fleece $$$$. I have read a few articles on people being charged wrongly for SmartBytes,I didn't happen to me. But I was charged twice for Airtel PC secure
So I did finally fell for it, I needed a better plan, Rs. 2599 for Rapid 175, with 8mbps internet speed. Well, it was great, 8mbps speed was just awesome, was downloading content at 1mbps speed, but the real downside was the upload speed, it was too less usually 60-80kbps, to upload content! Now that was really sad, I paid Rs 2500 for 8mbps plan, which gave me a content upload rate of 80kbps! At first I thought it was a mistake, so I checked with customer care, and all he could say was 'Airtel only guarantees download speed and not upload speed'. Frankly this is sh**, 8mpbs plan for this upload speed.
I manage a few website, and one of the larger one has 8gb data, which I download to my PC, as back up. So downloading usually takes 2-3 hours, now uploading that content back to the web server will take me more than 1 day. This is bad for business.
In the end all I can conclude is by saying Airtel and many other ISP's are not really upgrading their infrastructure, cluttering their network by adding more customers, fleecing money from the customer, and doing malpractices, etc. In time I hope these problems are addressed to, and TRAI is able to act on it, and work towards customers benefit and not towards the ISP's.
My intention here was not to defame Airtel or any organization, all I trying to educate the current and the future customer the problem that exists. Also leave you with a image, with details on average internet speed, and average price for it in various countries. This would give most of a bit of idea what we people are missing.

EVERYDAY I mean seriously Everyday Net is down and it doesnt even come back till we call customer care. But again after one day the same continues. Seriously These ASSH**ES are just fraud !I cant even work i mean icant even access the Reliancebroadband.co.in for login. Whenever i try to login it say webpage cannot be displayed. I live in Dattawadi,Pune so my question is Is there any good internet with No FUP and Good Speed like 100-500 kbps download speed. My budget is till 1200.
- Thanks for your time. Seems like they are shutting down connection after every 10 GB i download. It doesn't even come back till 48 hours been passed. |
Posted: 16 Sep 2013 01:27 AM PDT I have been a customer of airtel broadband for about 6-7 years.Initially i had 256 kbps plan and then they automatically upgraded it to 512 after a few months with no extra charge (i don't remember the tariff).then after some time i wanted more speed to download torrents and so i changed to swift 1099 ;then they fuped it with post fup 512kbps and i felt it was acceptable. Then again they discontinued the plan upgraded my plan to a 2mbps with 512kbps after (25gb) fup at 200 rs extra charge. All was going well until two months ago when they changed my plan to 2mbps for 30gb with 256 kbps post fup. Now my speed gets downgraded within few days and 256 kbps is a pain. When i reached CC they are responding that a 2mbps plan with post FUP 512 kbps never existed. What is airtel thinking?????? |
Reliance Strikes Yet Again This Time GSM Prepaid Account Posted: 16 Sep 2013 01:25 AM PDT Ok after breaking my head with their broadband company 2 years back another Crap Reliance product is back to break my head this time GSM prepaid account ... Here is my query ..
I had taken the new 3g mobile internet plan of reliance 2gb @ 246 Rs ... I had about 290 Rs balance and I recharged with 500 making my balance 790/-. .. Since one month was over the mobile net plan was about to expire on 14/9/2013 ...
I woke up midnight of 15/9/2013 and saw Rs 30/- deducted from my account and went back to sleep .. In the morning at 7am another 50 had been knocked off .. I called up RSCC ( Reliance Shit Customer Care ) and they said they cant pull up my records as server is slow .. This took 12 mins so 12rs more knocked off .. By 12pm they had reduced around 300Rs .. my balance was now 490/- ...
I called CC again and this time guy tells me that reliance mobilenet was not on autorenew and since I used on Saturday money has been cut .. I was like whoaa 300 rs for one day usage so he said no around 30-50 rs .. So i asked him why is 300 cut ?? So he said 300 is not cut just 30 rs is and my balance is 750/- .. I said no my balance is 490 and he refused to accept it saying that balance is 750 so I gave up .. another 20rs knocked off for speaking to CC so new balance is 470/- ..
While all this was on I was checking my usage status of mobile net which was down to few Mbs and like a fool i decided to manually renew for 1 month costing me another 250 approx .. After renewing I dont know how but my balance dropped to 90/- Rs and when I checked mobile net data status I was suddenly stuck with 4GB data .. I swear before renewing my balance was a few Mbs ..
So now im tired of emailing them .... There is no reply .. CC is not agreeing to rectify anything .. I wont die if I lose 600Rs ,Anil Ambani can transfer that to his swiss account or feed Tina an ice cream for all I care ...
My question is that Till June I had reliance cdma which I converted to Ril GSM .. Now I want to port out of Ril GSM to say Vodafone GSM can I ?? Im told by a friend im stuck till Dec 2013 as there is a 6 month wait unless rules are changed which hes not sure of ?? Somebody pleaseeeeeeeeee help me ... |

Best Broadband Options in Chennai Posted: 15 Sep 2013 11:33 PM PDT Hi all,
Rite now iam on Airtel 1MBPS in day 2MBPS in night unlimited(NO FUP as well) legacy plan. This plan is costing me around 1900rs per month so i want to change my ISP. I dont download constantly (only when there is a new game or a tv show season is out) so i dont consume that much. Hence please suggest me a ISP who provides good speed and reasonable FUP at reasonable price.

Should I switch from Airtel to Docomo? Posted: 15 Sep 2013 11:31 PM PDT Hi, I saw the broadband plans offered by DOCOMO and they seemed really good. Currently I have Airtel 4 Mbps and I am paying 1799 per month. ( Great connection & customer service ) What do I do with my internet? 1. I download upto 50-60 gb a month. 2. I browse the net for atleast 4-5 hours a day . 3. I have a part time job that requires a lot of uploading and so I need to be online a lot. 4. I play a lot of online games during the weekends So overall Airtel 4 Mbps Vs Docomo 16 Mbps. Which should I choose? |
