Can't find Dell online warranty check Posted: 18 Aug 2013 02:37 AM PDT Dear Friends,
I have been trying to look for an online service on Dell's India/Global site so that I can check the warranty status of my newly bought LED monitor. I only have the serial no of this monitor and no service tag etc as asked by Dell website somewhere I just looked at. I am surprised to see that there is no simple online facility by Dell to check warranty status of any of their products simple by entering a long serial no, often made available by other manufactures online namle Seagate as this link below is an evidence of that. One can easily find the warranty status of any Seagate products if he has got the serial no handy. Thanks.

Posted: 18 Aug 2013 02:26 AM PDT Google launches a new invite only beta augmented reality game INGRESS (http://pulse.me/s/fpavx) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nianticproject.ingress Ingress is a game that uses real world locations to allow you play a global game via an Android smartphone, which is not unlike Shadow Cities, an Android game we looked at earlier. The goal in Ingress is to discover augmented reality clues and messages embedded in physical locales, and gather virtual energy which allows you to continue playing the game. The fictional premise of the game is centered on a conspiracy originating in Europe dealing with some new form of energy being released into various locations around the planet. In order to gain access to the game you need to first sign up for an invite and have an Android smartphone available (the game isn't optimized for tablets). And while the game is currently set up for Android smartphones, it's hard to look at the game's promotional video and not instantly think of the Google Glass videos that have popped up since the introduction of the device. If that sounds like a stretch, keep in mind that Google has reportedly already made deals with real world stores to take advantage of the game, and secured in-game promotional relationships with companies like Jamba Juice, Hint Water, and Zipcar. How do you get people to use and enjoy a product based on embedded advertisements in everything around you? Make it fun by making the process a game. Next step: Port the entire thing over to Google Glass. Genius. The game is available now for free in the Google Play store. This looks awesome! I signed up for the beta. |
Buying and Selling products through OLX Posted: 18 Aug 2013 02:19 AM PDT I am giving it a second try. I listed my 2012 Google Nexus 7 3G 2 days ago. Just got one query. But as expected, it was quite absurd. He wants me to drop the price 40%. Claims to have Google as his client. Says Google is offering him the 2013 edition of the 3G variant for Rs. 18000 (US price is going to be above Rs. 22000). It's fun. I told him to get it because it is an excellent deal. He said he is planning on getting that but wanted a backup device for testing. I am assuming he is an Android developer and if he is right, Google seems to be offering the new model at pretty amazing prices to developers here in India even before it is launched in the US market.
Listed two more products for variety. I know people here have had much success with OLX. Share your stories! |
How to get wifi password from a router? Posted: 18 Aug 2013 02:13 AM PDT My office doesn't have a wi fi access. So i gave my spare wi fi (beetel 450tc1)router(3 months back) to them so that i too can access it. Last month someone misused it and gone beyond the FUP resulting in slow speed which is difficult to check even emails.
Now they have changed the wifi password. How to know that? I have the access to the main computer to which router is connected. Even the router settings is restricted with a personal username and password.
Anyone here know how to get the wifi password or the router user and pass?
The last thing to do is disconnect the router and bring it to my home
P.S. Hope this thread is legal and dont come under hacking category |

Unable to use Tata Sky Wifi Remote Posted: 18 Aug 2013 01:09 AM PDT Hi
I've a TataSky HD+ box, and I downloaded the new TataSky App from the AppStore.
The STB is connected to my WiFi router with the TataSky Wifi Dongle. I am unable to use the feature of WiFi remote provided by the TataSky App.
On trying to connect I get an error '0xfd2002 : Wi-Fi signal not available, Please ensure your TataSky + HD set top box and this device are currently connected to the same Wi-Fi router.'
Has anyone in the forum faced the issue? Any solution?
The TataSky helpline is clueless about this... |

GSM 2G network Shutdown, Transition to 4G -VoLTE Posted: 18 Aug 2013 12:17 AM PDT How to Track 2G Network Shutdown AT&T, which is shutting down its 2G network three years earlier than other networks, has launched a website to geographically track the shutdown. By Jason Knott The transition to 3G/4G wireless from 2G cellular networks is beginning early at AT&T. The telecom giant has launched a new website to geographically track the migration, which will begin on January 1, 2017.
Integrators that have installed primary or secondary cellular monitoring modules in their alarm panels need to begin swapping out those modules or clients will lose their communications. The website does not yet contain the geographic tracking mechanism, but AT&T has informed the Central Station Alarm Association that will be an element on the site. Other wireless networks have announced that they will not begin shutting down 2G until 2020, but AT&T says its early move is necessitated by the extreme amount of data clogging its network. "Our data traffic has grown at a staggering rate—by 30,000 percent from 2007-2012 - and will continue to increase dramatically in the foreseeable future," AT&T notes. "Migrating to faster, higher-capacity networks will help us ensure that we're using our available bandwidth as efficiently as possible to serve all our customers." In cases where the AT&T owned and operated 2G network is being shut down earlier than the original 2020 date, AT&T says it will be communicating in advance with those given markets. Meanwhile, manufacturer Telguard has created a website that plans to track information from all the carriers. |

Posted: 17 Aug 2013 11:28 PM PDT Dear ACT,
I've had ACT broadband connection in Indiranagar for the past 8 months now.Since the past 24 hours, my broadband hasn't been working and issue is unresolved till now. The complain id is 0001141783. This is the first major outage I've had which has stayed beyond 1 hour and is affecting my work badly as I need to rely on slow speed connections. I don't mind restarting my modem every 24 hours which I have been doing since the beginning to resolve the issue whenever I experienced lack of connectivity. But this time it has extended far too long. Request you to look into this urgently and resolve the issue. |

Posted: 17 Aug 2013 09:56 PM PDT I had two BSNL broadband connections, one of which dated back to 2004-5. Since last two years one of my connection was giving problem during rainy season, during rains it used to frequently disconnect and my complaint to them met deaf ears. Once a pro BSNL customer, I finally decided to get rid of them and shift to airtel, I applied for surrender of both my connections and two new connections from airtel. Got the airtel connection the very next day, where BSNL took 10 days and various visits to get one of my connection disconnected, while they refuse to disconnect another one on the pre-text that they need the modem they had provided me to be returned. The modem in question was given to me in 2010 upon opting for 1yr committed period ( I had disconnected my line for a year in 2009, so it was kind of new connection in 2010), their service record shows "FREE" modem, and they saying that I need to return them the "FREE" modem. Hilarious, I know, I went and spoke to the DE who is not willing to listen, spoke to the CO, who says she cant do anything and I need to speak to the DE, at the end frustrated I was, I requested the CO to charge me for the modem in the next bill but at least disconnect the broadband. She says she will try to speak to the DE and get it charged in the next bill and let me know. They don't even understand the meaning of "FREE".
Finally, good riddance ! (provided they disconnect by charging me for the modem Rs 1000/-) |

Modem Router that works both on BSNL & ACT Broadband Posted: 17 Aug 2013 02:39 PM PDT HI, I'm currently using BSNL BB with BSNL modem, since couple of months connection is getting worse day by day. I'm planning to move to ACT BB in couple of months, prior to that I would like to change the modem which works both on BSNL and ACT BB.
Let me know whether "TP-LINK TD-W8968 300 Mbps Wireless N USB ADSL2+ Modem Router" works on both? or suggest me any other. Thank you. |
Posted: 17 Aug 2013 02:16 PM PDT Micromax data cards sim socket is so fragile. I am using Micromax MMX 353 G data card. Its sim socket is very weak and fragile. Little rough handling can break its socket. I wonder whether the sim sockets of other universal dongles (supporting all networks) are equally weak and fragile. Please share your experience with other data cards.
