Google Hindi keyboard app

Google releases Hindi keyboard app with transliteration support

Want to type in Hindi on your Android phone, Google has a solution for you. The search giant has finally released a dedicated Hindi keyboard app in the form on Google Hindi Input in Google Play. The app is compatible with any Android smartphone or tablet running on FroYo or above, which includes almost everyone. Apart from the Hindi language keyboard, the Google Hindi Input also adds English to Hindi transliteration mode in the stock keyboard. So, if you don't want to actually spend lots of time in figuring out the Hindi keyboard and typing on it, you can simply switch on the transliteration mode and start typing Hindi as you would type English. Transliteration mode basically converts the Hindi words written in English (Roman/Latin) script to actual words in Devnagari script.

Internet Problems

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 01:35 AM PST

I am using MTNL Triband (Mumbai) since 5 years with GLB-502t model. Untill this December, my internet was working fine, no problems whatsoever. In December my net started disconnecting whenever i picked up the phone. Despite having a splitter my net was dcing. I changed my splitter 2 times, told lineman to see the cable fault, changed my wall sockets, changed cables, tried different phone model, tried different modulations but nothing the problem still persists. In January i began to get random dc's as well. I have tried everything i can from my side to rectify the problem. At first the splitter was connected to the phone and was acting as a adsl filter. When problem started i changed it and connected to the starting point and connected phone and modem directly through splitter, but no the problem still persist. Finally i complained and all they do is call back asking whether your internet is working or not. Despite explaining everything, all i get is return calls asking the same again and again. By far i have complained 4 times, replied to atleast 12 calls and still nothing. Final option is to get a separate line and use combo plan with it hence separating the whole problem from active phone line.

I asked them to send somebody to check but as you can read, 4 complaints, 12 calls returned, nobody came.

Best affordable MTNL Broadband plan for heavy downloaders in Delhi?

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 01:08 AM PST

In my opinion, Freedom 800 Combo plan (with 100 local calls free) is best plan for heavy downloaders right now.

In this plan
1. Download speed from 2300hrs to 0800hrs is 2 mbps
2. Download speed from 0800hrs am to 2300hrs is 512 kbps

Now the best part, If you got this plan, PM me to know something special about this plan.
(pujaari , is it now OK?)

So let's check why I am saying this plan as Cheapest.
In Ideal conditions

1. Assume you are getting exact speed, that MTNL is advertising i.e. for 599 UL plan - 512kbps, for 999 UL - 1024 kbps, for 1899 UL plan - 2048 kbps, and for Freedom 800 plan - 512kbps for 08:00 am to 11:00 pm and 2048kbps for 11:00 pm to 08:00 am.

2. Assume you download 24x7 without break for a 30 days month.

Now for 599 plan you will download = 512kbps => 512x60x60 => 1843200kilo bits per hour => 1843200/8 => 230400 kilo bytes per hour => 23040x24x30 => 165888000 kilo bytes per month => 165888000/1024 => 162000 mega Bytes per month i.e. 162000/599 =270.45 mega Bytes per Rupees you spent.

For Rs. 999 plan you will download = 1024kbps => 1024x60x60x24x30/8 => 331776000 kilo Bytes per month => 331776000/1024 => 324000 mega Bytes per month i.e. 324000/999 = 324.32 mega Bytes per Rupees you spent.

For Rs. 1899 plan you will download 648000 mega Bytes per month i.e. 648000/1899 = 341.23 mega Bytes per Rupees you spent.

For Rs. 3499 plan you will download 1296000 mega Bytes per month i.e. 129000/3499 = 370.39 mega Bytes per Rupees you spent.

For Rs 800 Freedom plan, you will download 512kbps from 08:00 am to 11:00 pm => 512x60x60x15x30/8 = 103680000 kilo Bytes per month => 103680000/1024 = 101250 mega Bytes per month.

and 2040kbps from 11:00 pm to 08:00 am => 2048x60x60x9x30/8 => 248832000 kilo Bytes per month => 248832000/1024 => 243000 mega Bytes per month

Total Download in one month = 243000 mega Bytes + 101250 mega Bytes = 344250 mega Bytes per month i.e 430.31 mega Bytes per Rupees you spent

So it is clear that you will get high downloadable volume for your money spent in Freedom 800 plan even there is not speed hike or anything else.

1.5 Ton Panasonic Cube AC?

Posted: 28 Feb 2013 11:37 PM PST

I finally saw the 1.5 Ton Panasonic Cube AC in a store.

I see it is around Rs 5000 cheaper than a 1.5T non inverter split.

And it seems to have a much larger surface area.

BUT it has no swing at all. most split ACs have only a 2 way swing, ie up and down. a few have a 4 way, side to side.

But the Cube has no swing. Which must be why its cheaper. Will the lack of swing be a serious problem? I suppose because of the lack of swing it will take longer to cool a room? those who are in the direct line of the Cube wil get cool but those at one side of the room will not.

Has anyone had a Cube AC and can you tell me how well it works to cool the entire room? thanks.

My room is 25 by 12 feet, so 300 sq feet. I know every dealer says buy a 2 ton Ac for it. But I have had a 1.5T window AC in tshi room for the last 18 years and it did cool the room except in the last few years when we also needed a fan since it had grown so old.
