Congrats.

When you connect to WAN Port and access the wifi router menu pages,
In LAN you may have to change the IP address from 192.168.1.1 ( used for BSNL)
and allot say 192.168.1.2. or 192.168.2.1 to access menu later.
2.
If "DynamicIP" option is selected , WAN port may function. Which mode you selected ?

3.
If possible upload screenshot of connection status, and the wifi page, and give the links here.

4. The ipconfig /all for LAN/WLAN will give a clear picture.

If a default SSID is seen with security key use it .
Firmware may not allow to change them. confirm.and give the link here.
If possible upload screenshot of the wifi page

To turn the wireless feature off on the Netgear VMDG280,
you have to press and hold the Wifi button in for 10 seconds,
release and it and the green light will go out, making it a
modem only.
Setup your existing/new router, connect the ethernet cable from
your existing/new router to no.1 ethernet port on the Netgear VMDG280,
and turn it on.

I'm gonna give this a try. I was so fed up of the new android market that I reverted to the old one (2.3.6) manually, and also deleted the marketupdater.apk to avoid the new one getting pushed time and again.
