Facebook Friend Exporter Google Chrome Extension / Plugin Blocked

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 08:31 AM PDT

Facebook has been identified to block the popular Google Chrome Friend Exporter plugin. Extension developer Mohamed Mansour claimed that the leading social networking site is blocking the plugin. "Facebook is trying so hard to not allow you to export your friends. They started to remove emails of your friends from your profile by today July 5th 2011. (The extension) will no longer work for many people," Mansour wrote on the extension's homepage.

The plugin helps people to grab all the Facebook friends data (phone numbers, email etc.) and export it to Google. Mansour is now working on fixing the plugin to make it work again. CNET claimed that the plugin works against Facebook's Terms Of Service.

No doubt Facebook is trying hard not to lose to the new kid on the block - Google Plus.

Verizon Data Caps Coming: How To Budget Your Wireless Usage

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 08:30 AM PDT

Verizon, one of the largest wireless carrier is set to introduce data plans with monthly usage caps.
Verizon hasn't said what its plans will look like. The new Verizon plans will most likely apply only to new customers or people trading up to smartphones. They could also apply to smartphone users buying new phones. The tricky thing about capped data plans is that few people have a clue how much a megabyte of data is, so they don't know much to sign up for. The phones themselves aren't much help: Although they can tell you how much data you've consumed so far this month, they can't tell you which of your smartphone's myriad functions are responsible.
By contrast, a minute spent talking on the phone is easy to understand, and many people have learned roughly how many minutes they use every month.

Microsoft to power Baidu’s English-language searches

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 07:49 AM PDT

Technology giant Microsoft has signed a deal with Baidu, China's leading search engine, to power the company's English-language searches—and, presumably, censor them to comply with Chinese government policies.
The deal should be in place by the end of 2011.

Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed, but typically a back-end search engine provider handles keyboard-based advertising that accompanies the search results, with a portion of ad revenue going back to whoever brought in the search term.

Improving The Range Of Wireless Signal For Home Routers

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 06:24 AM PDT

I believe it's a commonly searched problem - improving the range of wireless router installed in home. Typically there are multiple obstructions in a typical home environment (walls!) which weaken the Wi-Fi signal strength. I've read about installing another wi-fi router to extend the range, but don't know recall how to do it. Can someone post a solution, tips and tricks to do it? I'm sure large number of our CEans will benefit :)

Motorcycle ECU Discussions

I stumbled upon the term 'Motorcycle ECU' aka Electronic Control Unit. Today's sophisticated motorcycles have lot of components electronic controlled and it makes sense to have an ECU installed to keep check on everything. Can someone talk about the primary functions of ECU and why it's installed? Insights on ECU are welcome. :)

Content Management System

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 06:06 AM PDT

Difference Between Joomla and Drupal (Content Management System)
1.Drupal is much more flexible when it comes to the development and setting up the theme and layout of the website. Joomla! is known to be surrounded by the paradigms set by itself, and offers less scope to be flexible.
2. Joomla! is easy and fast to operate and implement. On the other hand, Drupal is quite a tough nut and have always been the choice of comprehensive businesses and enterprises.
3. If we put it in a precise manner then, Joomla! offers a nice, professional looking website with a slow, categorised, and limited options, while its actually vice versa with Drupal.
4.Backend admin functionality with the Drupal is not that good, while Joomla! is comparatively better.
5.The Drupal codes are more professional and skilled and of a quality, while it lacks in the case of Joomla!.
6.With Drupal, you are able to use the same log-in-details for every different site.
7.SEO has always and will always remain the key concern of these open source software. Therefore, this point should be of utmost importance that Drupal has SEO friendly URLs, while with Joomla!, one needs a commercial component.
8.While Joomla! makes use of the plug-ins for the additional functionality, but Drupal uses modules.
