100 gbps submarine cable in ??????? Posted: 28 May 2011 01:52 AM PDT Not really. I came up with it by adding together the collective capacity all of the cables that touch Indian shores and subtracting those that are run/owned/operated by more than one company (such as Sea-Me-We 4, which has ownership by both Bharti and Tata). As for the lit amount, that's an educated guess based on known approximate traffic levels from the ASN information of the larger Indian ISPs (which may or may not include the traffic that's resold to smaller ISPs, so there's a margin of error of maybe 20-30%) ---------- Post added at 02:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 PM ---------- ...also, it's not that precious - new cables are landing in India about every 18 months, adding anything from 1-3.5Tbit/s depending on the design capacity. |
