Posted: 07 Mar 2011 10:46 PM PST I am thinking of switching from Airtel to BSNL using Mobile Number Portability next month when I become eligible. Mainly pissed off with the 3g in Airtel. If you are travelling by bus it goes on and off switching to GPRS at times. Also when it regains 3G it doesn't always work. Anyway, question is, is it easy to get a BSNL sim card for Mobile Number Portability or do I have to wait for customer centers to get sim cards? How is the 3g connectivity across Bangalore? Is it stable enough and reliable? |

Posted: 07 Mar 2011 06:50 PM PST I am using Airtel Broadband with Wi-Fi Roiter (ADSL) from last 2 years. Recently, I am facing problems with the signal strength of router. When I move from the room where router is installed to another room, the signal strength drops. The distance between two rooms is less than 6 meter. I called up the technical support and the guy who came to my place says this is fine and signal drops like this. He is not willing to replace the existing router with a new one and says he can replace my current router with old repaired router. Airtel confirmed that the router should work fine within 10 meters but signal strength drops after 4 meters. Is this normal? What are the options I have? Please help. |
Sony is pissing on famous hacker Geohotz. Posted: 07 Mar 2011 06:27 PM PST Starting of geohot 'downtime' Bad news for geohotz. Sony got enough evidence(IP logs) from geohotz website host(bluehost.com), twitter etc. See watch ....... It may lead to a big loss like when geohot asks for donation to public, first of all no host will be ready to host their website and second thing, if anybody(outside USA) is ready to host, no one will donate for him because he may fear to caught by authorities. geohot has to use his own computer as a server. He can use until his ISP got an order from authorities to disconnect geohot's service. Well, this type of order had issued in the past during hard time of thepiratebay, no ISP was ready to give service at any charge then they have to move their server from USA to canada and then may be in Germay, right now. ---------- Post added at 07:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:43 AM ---------- Poll started. I want to have an answer from you all compulsory. If you do not answer, does not matter I can not do anything to you. |

Apple iPad 2 with two cameras launched Posted: 07 Mar 2011 05:42 PM PST Srry for the late reply but I didnt realize there had been a post in this section... Anyway my frnd got his Ipad from an Apple store in New York in August 2010... He poped in a BSNL 3g sim into it & it worked flawlesly... About the AT&T/verizon versions... Well itsmpretty clear u should buy the GSM version (aka the AT&T one)... Just remember to buy it from the Apple Store & not the AT&T stores... Also We have seen a recent price drop on the original Ipad in india plus the Apple India site has an Ipad2 video on its main page... This coupled with the fact that Apple is looking to sell 40mil+ units of Ipad2 given me the feeling we might see a blanket worldwide launch(including India) very soon... I think it might be better to w8 for an India launch... BTW Ipad2 might not have the facetime problem like the IPhone4 had coz its based on email rather than ur Phone no... Also I personally prefer the Ipad 3g version rather using a phone as a router coz it eats up the battery of the phone very fast & the battery life of my phone is rather imp to me:)... |

Query regarding Spectranet Broadband Posted: 07 Mar 2011 10:24 AM PST Guys I am using BSNL BB 625 Unlimited plan and had a look at Spectranet BB plans and found it quite gud actually so decided to call them reg the availability in Hyderabad also the installation charges and all. I decided to go with Express 768 Kbps unlimted plans. Upon calling them, the guy said that the installation charges may range upto Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 and apart from the tariff we need to pay an additional Rs 100 per month towards maintainence charges to cable op :o My question is 1) What's the installation charges ? Does it depend uopn the feasabilty and area? 2) Why shud we pat extra maintainence charges? He said it becoz of feasabilty. :| Let me know is changing frm BSNL to Spectranet worth . How is the service of spectranet. |

Posted: 07 Mar 2011 07:39 AM PST CDMA networks are best [For city area ] . Superb voice quality even if signal is less and network coverage from a tower is more when compared to GSM signal . But our Indian companies are not interested in expanding network and releasing Good handsets . In my taluk [Tehsil](Has 30k+ population) Tata Indicom was launched in 2004 , they have only one tower . Not even interested in expanding their network . |
