Rs. 10220 crore/year IRCTC fraud? Possibly run by agents? Posted: 07 Mar 2011 02:35 AM PST Some years back, web booking opened at 4 am (or 6 am , I am not sure), but counter booking started at 8 am. So, people waiting in the Q in stations got wait listed tickets often. Hence online booking hours are synchronised to counte booking - 8 am to 8 pm. Only when there is a balance is supply-demand; 24 hour booking will make sense. |

Vodafone fooling again - 3G available in India, as per Vodafone India USB Modem Guide Posted: 07 Mar 2011 02:02 AM PST This makes me happy that I'm a Vodafone customer. This is the kind of speed and ping I'd expect in any other country on Vodafone - it seems that Vodafone might be doing 3G properly. Here's hoping it continues to perform this way. My phone supports 10.2mbit/s - I almost can't wait to test it on that. |

Dictators and the power of the web! Posted: 07 Mar 2011 01:38 AM PST The power of the web and its having a large role to play wrt to dictators is over-exaggerated IMO. What % of Tunisia & Egypt are on the web < 10%. Therefore what role can the web really have played in instigating riots there that endured for weeks at a time that too by poor-middle class people not the elite that are internet savy. Instead i would suggest it was mainly cellphones. The power of the mobile network and the cheap cost of a phone to send sms messages, video etc. I posted this over cpl of weeks ago elsewhere. On the weekend, in an interview with Saeed Naqvi of x-news, Shashi Taroor said the same thing :) |

Finally determined BSNL 3g Data cap of 4200Rs unlimited plan Posted: 07 Mar 2011 01:16 AM PST there is no 150gb or some fixed limit like that.. i enquired with bsnl ppl... actually i dloaded more than 1 tera byte with 500kbps speed.. but now reduced to 120kbps.. one reason might b th upgradaton to 14.4 mbps or bsnl might have downgraded their servers... wait until april 1 .. probably they might reallocate their servers to original speeds, or we will become fools on 1st of april , as usual by this idiotic bsnl... |

Posted: 07 Mar 2011 12:21 AM PST I got 3G activated on my number, but even after umpteen tries could not latch on to 3G network. Myself being technical guy, i tried everything, but in vain. My brother who uses a pre paid connection, was able to access 3G network ( from the same location) Have raised complaints, got new MO settings but nothing seems to be working. I also tried switching to pure UMTS, but then only the symbol 3.5G appears with no network coverage. Did anyone faced any similar issues? Solicit Help.. thanks |

Fivenet New Diwali Plan Rs. 5,999 for 1 Year, Upto 10 Mbps speed Posted: 06 Mar 2011 11:06 PM PST Update: I got the problem solved! i got hold of a person working for the operator... requested him and he was kind enough to invest some time of his, in solving my problem. BTW, even after so many repeated calls... still no call from Reliance BB for a possible new connection. Another trouble: In youtube videos, if i select HD videos.... internet traffic stops for 30sec-1min.... then the video loads normally. Now, why the internet stops for this short duration? I have installed a gadget and confirmed that this is happening... Any thing i can tweak from my side? I also would like to say, that if i open the video directly in HD resolution, then it loads normally. So the problem only occurs if i open the video in SD and click to HD later on.... |

Does the username / password change when changing to NIB-II network? Posted: 06 Mar 2011 09:02 PM PST I've been on Home Unlimited 1350 @ 512Kbps since two years. I just found out about the new plan at the same price on NIB-II (4Mbit until 20 GB) and I've submitted that complaint form asking them to change mine. Is that all that's required on my end or will I have to go to the exchange and give them a letter or whatever? How's the new network? Is it stable like the old one? How long did it take you guys to shift to the new network? |

Hayai Broadband Hardware Details Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:27 PM PST Correct. And if you use DC++ and whatnot that your overall spend could drop even further than that. I do hope that we will end up reducing the flat-rate tariffs soon but we have to ascertain what the average usage is going to be, and I think within the first 12 months we will have to introduce a 1Gbit/s service. |
Reliance Wireline Broadband: Any one needs help in getting a connection? Posted: 06 Mar 2011 06:06 PM PST Hi Auro, One of my friends, had applied for reliance wireline broadband connection in Koramangala 6th block, Bangalore. The person who came for installation after 1 week said that there is no connectivity to my apartment and he needs long cable which he doesn't have and asked him to call the sales person. He tried to reach out to that person, but didn't get a proper response and so he had to cancel the cheque for the installation charges. He is thinking of going with Airtel now. He would like to give Reliance another chance provided he gets a professional communication and service this time. Will PM you my contact details. - Ashish |

Help me change to an Unlimited plan Posted: 06 Mar 2011 09:38 AM PST Sure, you may find a good plan if you can increase your budget at some 500 - 800 Rupees. Try ULD 1350, but that too is a combo plan with free calls. All those combo plans I mentioned to have free calls in plenty. Check these links .:COMBO BB Unlimited:. |

Reliance 3G Plan and Recharge!! Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:47 AM PST I am using 2gb for 749/- plan. Welcome to Reliance Communications I think you can register an account online then you can recharge with net banking or credit card pay, I have not tried it yet. |
why broadband is costly in india???? Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:38 AM PST Well, it is old tuts but feeling lazy to read. Broadband in India why do you guys read this and post some brief idea on it? I have taken this article from someone's blog who is member on this forum. Credits goes to him. |
Re;iance 3G has max of 28mbps??? or 21.1 mbps?? Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:35 AM PST Their network is scalable to support speeds upto 28Mbps, but thats going to be 2-3 yrs before we get those speeds in affordable plans. I am using their 2gb data plan in data card & when I landed up in Mumbai, I was getting speeds upto 6.8Mbps for a short while, I was traveling on highway. Other companies will have to upgrade their network hardware whereas they already have it in place that s why they are advertising it. |
