Queries Before Taking BSNL 3G? Posted: 28 Feb 2011 02:12 AM PST I have purchased a Prepaid 3G SIM of BSNL today. I think both prepaid and postpaid are equally priced. The 500 MB plan costs Rs.275/- in prepaid and Rs.249/- + service taxes in postpaid(SOURCE). Now waiting for SIM to be get activated. What should I do after that? The franchisee of BSNL told me that I have to buy a FRC after activation. What is FRC? Can anyone tell me how long it will take SIM to get activated? Actually I am little bit confused between these two pages: 3G Postpaid and Prepaid Data Service FRCs offered under 3G Services Lastly Will I get any special offer after I activate the 3G service as a new user? The franchisee also told me that BSNL 3G card(Micromax) he has been selling can be used with any other 3G service provider. The card costs Rs.2,500/- and has 7.2 MBPS Download Speed. |
BSNL 3g PPP link control protocol was terminated ? Posted: 28 Feb 2011 01:32 AM PST |
Posted: 28 Feb 2011 01:22 AM PST I usually set my TV volume at 30 units and TS + STB volume at 3 units. This works fine for almost all channels. However, while switching channels, the STB volume goes up to 10-12 on its own. When I reduce it to 0 and increase to 3, it gives same volume as it used to give while it was at 12! This happens when I switch from non-HD channel to HD channel. |

In the name of national security... Indian government is taking a lot of our liberties... Posted: 28 Feb 2011 01:14 AM PST what can we do.Well for starters sue the govt against IT act 2008.It was passed witout debate.I am in touch with various advocacy groups and finally ,FINALLY we have a website dedicated to this.IT is PRIVACY INDIA which was setup in collaboration with center for internet and society Home Page — Centre for Internet and Society. Look what the SC has said Privacy disappearing due to technology: SC - CIOL News Reports FILE PIL.Ratan tata has at least filed a case against phone tapping. All we need to for some big NGO to file amicus curie(friend of the court) and ask the SC to interpret "right against unreasonable search and seizure" under article 21. Already i am overloaded with airtel Fair Usage Policy.p2p throttling now you have DOT silently blocking websites. ADMIN i am begging you to create a site www.savetheinternet.in and hire a lawyer. We will donate,File cases against airtel for Fair Usage Policy or atleast secret p2p throttle.FILE RTI and ask how many websites has the govt blocked. All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for men of good conscience to remain silent-thomas jefferson |

Posted: 27 Feb 2011 11:20 PM PST Did you enquire in the local market for this model ? A wifi model New )was quoted in ebay.in for Rs 1300/= same model. BSNL cost Rs 1800/= I was charged Rs 1100/= for Huawei Ax Mt882 when i opted for outright purchase with 50% concession on rental paid for almost three years. I had the option to change the unit if not working at any time. Since you purchased outright the facility will be for 6 months or one year. Your telephone bill will be proof that you paid Rs 1100/= plus 10.3% taxes. Usually, BSNL issues tenders and buys lakhs of units. for a greatly reduced price. Probably the supplier has included the unit which were not sold earlier! ITI is also a PSU !!! Who will bell the cat ? |

Help Me choosing the Best Plan Posted: 27 Feb 2011 08:27 PM PST It is BBG FN Combo 600 which gives Rs. 0.20/- per MB for usage upto 5 GB ; Rs. 0.10/- per MB thereafter. Source : .:BB COMBO:. BBG Combo ULD 1350 has 4 Mbps upto 20 GB, 512 Kbps beyond 20 GB. Not all are lucky enough to get 4 Mbps as the speed depends heavily on line condition. Expect somewhere around 2 Mbps. But if you are lucky, you may even get 4 Mbps. |

Videocon D2H HD DVR User Experience and Review Posted: 27 Feb 2011 02:33 PM PST @ admin I suggest we can change the title of this thread to somewhat like "Share your first hand experiences of HD DVR"...... I thought of starting a new thread, but there are so relating to this thing, that a new user will only get confused, as to where to find the relevant stuff!! @ Thread I am sharing my first hand experience of this product....... I booked my connection through Online Team on Friday night & the installation was completed yesterday. About time taken for installation, i was a bit disappointed.....coz the 2 guys came at 2:30 in the afternoon, & the final testing and all was completed by 6:45 PM or so.....the "Senior" of the 2 said that HD DVR installation normally takes 4-5 hours [:O]. I want to ask other users of D2h & also of other DTH providers, is this ture?? Frankly speaking i felt he took me for a ride.....anyways, it was done in the end. The demo is pending, coz he said his senior had better idea so it is advisable to get it from that person - fine enough - should be today or so. As regards channels......i also feel HD is worth spending the money. never seen such sharp content on Live TV!! PACKAGE CONTENTS 1) 1 GOLD Plated HDMI cable. 2) Standard A/V Cable too is there if you dont have HDMI in TV. 3) 1 USB Cable - I think it is the 1 meant to be used as extension.....USB port is situated at the back, so may be to avoid those hassles, this cable can come in handy. 4) The STB of course - Manufactured by Altech UEC (Pty) Ltd, South Africa, Model 4611. (for those who want to Google it up) 5) The Remote Control & Adaptor for Power Supply. 6) User Guide 7) And yes, 1 month Platinum HD pack worth 440 is free. All the functions are same as offered by other DTH providers - Play/Pause live TV, Rewind/Forward, Record/Schedule Recording of shows...... But 1 thing that i am really curious about is - There's a Purple button at the bottom of the remote.....the User Guide named it as "Motion Sensor button". But i havent gone thru it much due to lack of time......It will be known only when the person comes for demo. HD Channels available - 1) NGC HD 2) Discovery HD 3) Movies Now HD 4) Travel XP HD 5) D2h Movies HD 6) D2h Music HD (Video Songs channel) 7) Test Channel - I saw Zee over here, but i think it may be due to glitch.....coz i couldnt make out much difference between normal Zee, and this channel. So, the mystery remains as to which is this channel - Zee TV HD or some other. 8) Test Feed - It showed me the standard message about "Not subscribed.......blah blah". Even this remains a mystery. And deep within, i hope that 1 of them is Star Cricket HD......coz without that, their product wont be sold - atleast new buyers will think twice as we all know TS is offering it for Free, along with Active services!! All in all - i would feel that the effective cost would fall to around 5.5k given the added benefits. I am not making any judgments here - i dont know what others are offering, and what is their "Effective Cost"....... Will post things as & when anything comes to my mind. Or may be if anyone requires further info, can post their queries. ---------- Post added at 04:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 AM ---------- Thanks for updating!! |
Posted: 27 Feb 2011 01:45 PM PST Ur job again Jignesh......updating the 10 odd channels that are added + the HD Channels. And 1 editing to be done - Planet M Music Space Hitz is now on channel no. 550 instead of 290 earlier...... PS: Can you check which HD channels are on test on D2h?? I saw 2 channels on "Test" in the STB's channel list....... |

FUTURE of BB in India: Will Reliance 4G-LTE be a gamechanger ? Posted: 27 Feb 2011 01:10 PM PST Ahh yes, you're quite right. So we re-calc all that but the tax-bill is only about halved. Tax Computation Step 1 Select assessment year = 2011-2012 Step 2 Select type of Assessee = Domestic Companies Step 3 Enter Net Income = 10,000,000.00 Income-tax(Including surcharge,EC & SHEC) on Rs. 10,000,000.00 is Rs. 3,399,000.00 Surcharge Rs. 300,000.00 Education Cess Rs. 66,000.00 Secondary and Higher Education Cess Rs. 33,000.00 So... If they charge Rs1000/subscriber for 100GB we can work backwards: Rs940 after 6% of revenue for the license Rs740 after 20% overheads (labour, operations, MAYBE they can include equipment in there, and I'm being rather stingy even then) Rs440 after bandwidth Rs290 left after corporate tax. ============== Rs160k divided by 290 = 551 = 55100GB = about 185mbit/s CBR but that still seems a tiny bit high just to break even. I didn't even count service tax at 10.3% because that complicates matters even further. |
