Posted: 24 Feb 2011 02:59 AM PST Yes, I've heard that kind of thing also. It's my understanding that they use local cablewalas to provide service anyway, so if they don't have agreements with your local provider, you probably don't have a hope in hell. They told me I could get Railwire service in Mumbai in September 2009 when I spoke to them in early 2009. Then when I spoke to Railtel's Western Office when I first started getting things together for Hayai they told me they are having too many problems with local providers, so if I was able to build this network and get the license and so forth that they would be able to (and I'm paraphrasing) provide me as much bandwidth as I need, to anywhere in the country. |

Important news for all bsnl broadband changes plans 1 feb 2011 Posted: 24 Feb 2011 02:56 AM PST Its just the lazy attitude of the BSNL staff. If complaints to exchange and CSC don't work , contact the nodal officer in charge of your city / area along with the details of all the complaints you have filed and then see them work. I upgraded from Home 1000 to ULD 1400 and then to ULD1350 . When upgrading from Home 1000 to ULD 1400 i was supposed to get a speed upgrade from 2 Mbps to 4 Mbps .. None of the complaints to exchange and Customer Care center and broadband helpline worked. After complaining to nodal officer the issue was resolved and I got discounts also on subsequent 2 month bills as well for their fault ... Hope this helps for you |

Which broadband is best for Ghaziabad Delhi Posted: 24 Feb 2011 02:31 AM PST U can expect quality service from reliance broadband but at the same time u will hve to face the worst customer care in INDIA. They are some ill- mannered staffs working there in reliance. ---------- Post added at 04:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:59 PM ---------- U can go for the 1 mbps package in reliance. There is also night booster plan @ 1599 that will give u 1 mbps speed in morning & 2 mbps night. |
Tata is worst service provider Posted: 24 Feb 2011 02:19 AM PST I purchased tata photon plus and after one days the speed was very low and I tried to contact the customer executive but not result when I talked the executive after hours of waiting they say they cant do any thing.Speed is very low. I have similar experience in the past when I got my tata walky talky telephone bill of Rs5000 instead of monthly average of Rs600/-. And I had to submit that bill because they threatened me to sue in the court and I didn't have enough time to fight them legally or to go to consumer court so I paid that bill but the next month I removed that connection from my house. |
Post your internet budget with your usage and speed requirement. Posted: 24 Feb 2011 02:07 AM PST If you play on MMOs/Games that we can put in our Hayai Zone, you could probably get away with a data plan at 100mbit/s - Infrastructure costs Rs550, and you just add whatever your usage is - you can choose any amount of usage from 1 to 1000GB at Rs10/GB. To make it easy, let's say 45GB of usage and round-off the price at Rs1000 per month including tax. If you wanted the peace of mind of flat-rate, probably a 5mbit/s or 10mbit/s plan would suit you fine (1999 and 2999 including tax respectively). I wouldn't put you on Hayai Lite only because of the game thing, even though it's theoretically an option, with plans up to a maximum of 30GB per month at Rs649 including tax. |

Hayai Broadband Hardware Details Posted: 24 Feb 2011 01:59 AM PST If by "everyone" you mean Reliance Infocomm, then yeah... but no-one else really is. As far as I'm aware, we don't have the right paperwork for deploying LTE, because of what LTE is - to the best of my knowledge we'd have to get another license essentially allowing us to operate as a cellular operator, and to be honest I'm not 100% interested in becoming one at the moment. We're deploying a version of Wimax which does allow for tower handovers, in a similar way to cellphones (so it can be used on the move and it has been tested by how well it works in a Mumbai local), which I think should allow us to compete with the real-world speeds of LTE. 80mbit/s is all very good and well in tests, but even in Sweden real-world speeds are significantly less than that on Sonera's LTE network, and we think by following in their footsteps and ONLY having data plans up to 30GB per month, we should be able to keep our wireless network's performance at a very high level. Even if we're only promising ~8mbit/s, most of the people on Hayai Lite (your parents, for example), probably don't care too much about 8 versus 30mbit/s, so long as it's not too slow, and the things they want to do just work. |
Posted: 24 Feb 2011 01:45 AM PST City: Ghaziabad Package: Home 899 (256kbps Unlimited) Cost: 899 + tax Positive points: Unlimited data transfer, excellent speeds 280Kbps Up and Down some time. Negative points: I am satisfied with the speed but , they provide 200 free local calls and incoming calls and I am not taking benefit of such phone call service still they are charging me same amount and not giving me any discount. Another addition of LTE project from , Alcatel-Lucent come with altair semiconductor for test LTE in india market. Railwire Broadband launched in Gulbarga - Karnataka Posted: 24 Feb 2011 12:45 AM PST We all have read about A. Raja giving franchises of BSNL wimax to his associates and relatives. No surprise that BSNL wimax has turned out to be flop show. Going by the precedent and prevailing best practices of the Congress government in Delhi, I won't be surprised a bit if the 'Pandit Enterprises' turned out to be an associate or friend of a congress party politician. Anyway their plan are similar to what MTNL is already offering in Delhi/Mumbai. Nothing earth shattering here folks. Move on. Offer 2 mbps unlimited without Fair Usage Policy for under Rs 1000 and we will talk. |

Posted: 23 Feb 2011 11:05 PM PST I watch Hindi, English & Malayalam channels. I don't watch channels of any other region. I was wondering if there is a difference between going for a North India Pack & taking Malayalam1 as a Al-a-Carte Pack or alternatively going with a South India pack and taking Malayalam1 as a free Al-a-carte pack. For the same price as South Gold, I can get North Gold Cricket - so I don't mind paying for the extra Malayalam1 a-la-carte pack. Will I miss any Malayalam channel if I go the North Pack way? I watch only cricket & Gold Cricket pack shows any channel which has cricket, so that's good. I also get Sony Max, Star Gold, Colors & many other channels extra if I go the North way. Does this sound right? |

Posted: 23 Feb 2011 01:24 PM PST I am planning to switch to Idea once my current balance is utilised..... Coz Idea is way too cheaper than Vodafone. I have 3 reasons to shift to Idea.... 1) I dont remember what pack i had taken on my existing Idea connection, that from June 2010, till date, i am charged: 1p/sec on outgoing - ROAMING Nil on Incoming - ROAMING..... Whereas Vodafone - it charged me Re.1/min on both In & out.......that too, wasnt per second billing - talk for 1 second also and that Rupee is charged. 2) STD calling also is @ 1p/sec from my home circle or even on roaming. But on Vodafone, it becomes Rs.1.3/sec on Home circle, and never dared STD on roaming - so dont know the charges. 3) Network......i have noticed tis many times - Call dropping is very less in Idea. I have to call up 3-4 times if i call up using Vodafone (Ofcourse, that costs extra because every 1st second of a call i am charged 1 Re.) Whereas in Idea - once i call up, the call doesnt drop, until i disconnect the fone. There were many other features which i had received on my fone via sms, due to which i have made up my mind to switch to Idea. |
