Just like in Iran, Twitter may have played a major role in the successful Egyptian civil unrest against President Hosni Mubarak, but Facebook received the most coverage after the Mubarak was overthrown and Egypt limped back to normalcy. Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram reports that Jamal Ibrahim, in his twenties, has named his daughter "Facebook" Jamal Ibrahim after the social networking website.

Unfair practice being carried out by TATA SKY

Before i begin how one will be cheated by TATA SKY if one upgrade to TATA SKY PLUS HD, i want to ask those who have upgraded to TATA SKY PLUS HD:

Have the TATA SKY engineer who came to install the HD box, has taken away the existing box or left it to you only?

In any case, here are the issues :

1) While we paid Rs. 8,999 for TATA SKY PLUS, why they are charing only Rs. 3,999 (which is less than half) for something which has 5 times higher capacity hard-disk and is HD capable? It should be double not half. It means Rs. 9000 charged to tata sky plus customer was extremely exorbitant, absolutely disproportionate and therefore, highly unfair.

2) How come they have the audacity to say that for both new and old customers the prices will be the same for Tata Sky plus HD? That means are those who are loyal customers since many months or even years and have invested upto Rs. 9000 in tata sky plus, Tata Sky or Tata sky HD are of no value to them? They have not become as same as a new customer as soon as they want to upgrade from tata sky or tata sky HD or tata sky plus to tata sky plus HD?

3) How can they take away the existing box for free which the customer have paid upto Rs. 9000 for (if they are taking it away with them) OR, what is their explanation of what we should do with those existing boxes (if they are leaving it to us) - Should we just throw it to the dustbin or should be reverse engineer it by tearing it apart? Will it make a good brand value to their own product?

Though it is exciting to know that Tata Sky has finally launched HD with PVR, but with such hypocrisy and unfair practice they are leaving good reasons for the consumers to do something about it.

I have bought the new HD Plus box from Tatasky & using a HDMI cable to connect it to my LG 32le4600 LED TV. I understand that we need to use a separate coaxial cable to get 5.1 output from the speakers. Friends plz guide me as to what brand of coaxial cable is best & the cost for the same if possible. Also i need instructions on where to connect it on TS HD+ box & my led tv. If anyone can post pictures for the same it would be great help.

I am sure there would be many members looking for above solution.

While it would be a slightly longer route for India-US traffic, for example, it would be extremely uncongested given the limited populations in between: no competition with Singapore, Indonesia, Phillippines, Hong Kong, China, Tokyo etc as there is now.

Oh so you would prefer we have a uniform civil code then because there is seperate personal law in India for Hindus, Muslims & Christians. The muslims here follow sharia.

I'm skeptical about this. All those laws you refer to were brought in during Zia's time and were encourgaed by the war in Afghanistan in the late 70s. All this extremism was used to counter the soviets. It was a cheap way to motivate people. A dictator was responsible for bringing in these laws not democracy.

But where is the need to do that today in Egypt or Tunisia. If you repress people then they become more extreme. Let them come out and try to run for the ballot instead of resorting to the bullet. Religious parties as it is in Pakistan can never get very far, that is why they take to the streets.

Basically your contention is because Pakistan is like this all the other Arab countries will follow. This is not true. If Egypt gets it right, then it becomes the template for all the other arab world to immitate, who knows even Pakistan will face pressure to do so as well.

Its a big stakes game here :)

I agree. I've used tata indicom broband at two different location in mumbai for a period of a year each and the experience was very frustrating. The nodal officers are also of no help at all. I had to escalate problems to them atleast 4 - 5 times before i got any response from their side.

Better stay away from them. The only time they talk to you politely is when you ask them to disconnect their services.

I did have a good experience with them in bangalore which was the reason why i first took up tata after coming to mumbai but their service levels have gone down heavily over the years

Just called up Airtel support and they said that recorder will support HD channels...very weird...no where in there site have they mentioned that the Airtel recorder supports HD.

our cause against Fair Usage Policy has been seriously compromised by a lone individual masquerading as as the second coming of christ on this forum.The article is not only lame but compromised.


Our only option is protest in front of TRAI building and in delhi you need to seek a permit(made a right into privileged).

HOW the hell isp compute the Fair Usage Policy based on average!.This is a self limiting system as you cannot enjoy HD internet as no one will be able to consume more than the allotted limit.

India has 10million bb users whereas USA,EU has 100+ million.If isps say that there system are constraint in 10million then they should stop giving connection and commit bankruptcy.

Airtel is giving Tees Mar Khan @ 25 wherein TataSky is giving @50. Airtel is giving Social Network @ 50 but TataSky is giving at 75.

Tatasky is charging premium for this as usual. Airtel is even giving some good movies for Rs10/- .... Better than our next door DVD library.

A suggestion:
List out all your complaint numbers with the dates of resolution given.
Call the Nodal officer, calmly explain the whole story to him/her.
If she still doesnt agree, play the conversations you have recorded over the phone.
And, when you call up, first the phone will be received by a secretary type of person, so make sure you are talking to the nodal officer(ask clearly "Are you the Nodal officer?" ) before explaining everything
It took me ~30 mins, but I did manage to receive a refund of approx Rs 800 when my photon was giving pathetic speeds for about 3 months

Just noticed: you didnt get any mail from TATA confirming your recharge?
If so, it means your recharge never went from ichoose's accounts to TATA accounts.
unless you get a mail from tata photon systems that the recharge is successful, you cannot be sure. Its unlikely you will receive any help from the nodal officer then, but still try

I applied for plan change on 25.10.2010 and submitted the application on the same day at BSNL office Chittoor; the concerned staff told me my plan will be changed from 01.11.2010. But without any prior notice on 28.10.2010 my HOME 500UL (RURAL) was changed to HOME 500 Night free (2.00A.M. to 8.00 A.M) as I requested. I downloaded heavily from 6.00 P.M. on 28.10.2010 to 31.10.2010 as usually because I was having unlimited home plan. The download speed was very good up to 240KBPS against 25 to 30KBPS previously.When I checked my bill amount by dialing to 1500 on 29.10.2010 they told me my request to plan change with effect from 7.15 P.M. on 28.10.2010. Do you know how much bill got for that month? Instead of Rs.500/- I got Rs.3,111/-. When I questioned about this to SDOT he simply said the rules have been changed now and they will change the plan request immediately as soon as they receive request fro customers.
Most of the official at BSNL don't have technical knowledge about computers and broad band service.
I suggest the customers if you want to download more night unlimitted plan is the best. All the other unlimited plans are waste in my opinion.

Hi, I too have the same problem..

When I connect the Mblaze to my Acer Aspire One Netbook (D255), it appears as a Removable Drive..

If I try to open the drive, it never opens and the computer hangs unless I unplug the USB..

ESPN/Star Cric HD . . anyone noticing the following . . . ??

Well, got ESPN HD activated. Its definitely a relief to watch the matches ad free . . .that alone i guess is worth the 165 bucks airtel's charging.

There is definitely more detail . . but the difference from SD is not exponential . .as was in the case of the commonwealth HD broadcast viz a vis the DD SD channel. Anyone else feeling the same?

Also the all the cricketers seem too tall and lanky. Couldn't put my finger on it but something about the picture just seemed wrong. Then it hit me as I was watching a HD .mkv video.

Apparently it seems to me that the HD cam/equipment/broadcast is of a wider aspect ratio that the 16:9 that almost all HD televisions are. Its seems to be a 21:9 broadcast.

While watching the above mentioned .mkv video i had letterboxing (1280 x 528 resolution 21:9 format) and using the stretch to fit windows option the characters in the video appeared tall and unusual . . similar to how it seems on ESPN HD.

Anyone else noticing this . . or is it just in me head?:confuse:

Ah cool thanks! Wish these plans were not LIMITED :( My avg usage on my UNLIMITED 1 Mbps plan is around 8-10 GB per month, so I guess I'd be better off with the 2 Mbps speed since it catches good speed as you say, but the downside is that
it is LIMITED and any extra usage would shoot up the cost tremendously.

you have to increase your slots to 6 or more than 6.
just go to settings, upload slots and just increase it to 6 then you just close dc++ and restart it.
and if same errors comes na you have to change some settings in ur dc++ and will work fine.

hey your ip may be set automatically.......
first of all you have to get your ip and have to set ip manually accordingly.
you can get the ip from your fivenet cable wala just tell him that my hub is not working just please give me ip address and note it down and set it to manually and insert the ip address along with other details like gateway,dns address.etc
